Must watch! (For all hardcore SCers)

Recently, we (Hong Kong SC players) are very fortunate to have the opportunity to play against some of the BEST SC players in Korea (Kura & CrazyTaki).

Although we only get about 3 hours of gaming session against them, but we are all highly impress by the level of competition Korea has to offer, they are probably the BEST player we have ever seen so far (Is a big world out there).

Although the HK players put up are fairly good fight against them, but we all agree that they are at a whole different level in terms of knowledge, defense and execution. Their gameplay is a great example of how putting up a great defense does not equal to turtling... (Something intermediate players often misunderstand)

No video were recorded during their trip to HK, but we did convince them to put up some of their video on youtube.

Here's two recent gameplay video kura put up, I highly recommend it to every competitive player out there to watch. Their ability to put up a great defense while keeping up with intense pressuring is what impress me the most. (NOTE: Pay attention to their ability to read low out of no where)

Kura's Zas vs Seung chul's Yunseong

Edit:
Added two new vids from Kura's Youtube page

Taki vs Voldo

Tira vs Asty

ahh i think they put that kick just frame from crane stance in the game so that only one person in the entire world could use it... personally i think its bad ass but i have never seen a yun player do it in a match

geez too solid. They really do punish EVERYTHING. Very well played...not sylish but, overall some of the best solid play I've seen.
Always crouched CR A...it's like that move was useless vs that Zas

Very solid play in both vids. Execution of JFs, spacing, ducking/punishing was superb, and I like the aggressiveness / pressure you both present. Well done.

In response to WuHT and WingZero's PM:

The Korean players and 2 singapore players (Reinhart and Hiro) visit Hong Kong for the Asia Game Show SC4 exhibition match host by Sony. (They get free tickets and accommodation, but only for 1 day...)

The video for the game show event is here: http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=S3uJfYYi7Jc&feature=channel_page

The event itself is kind of a joke, since the elimination round is online, and in the actual event, you can only use start up characters, and the TV have a huge delay for some reason, so no one is really playing close to what they are capable of in the event... Anyway, after the event Lau invited the Korean players to join us for private gaming session, (we didn't invite the singapore players because they must go back to Singapore right after the event...)

As for the gaming session, the first thing we discover is that they don't fall for any tricks/set-up easily... when we play them, we have an impression that they have seen every single tricky set-up before, and they rarely fall for them more then once.

2) their defense against normal mid/low mix-up is AMAZING, I really don't know how to explain it, but it seems like they spend a lot of them to practice defend and read mix-up. Normal mix-up almost NEVER work. The best way to attack is probably anticpate when they will attack and strike when they are unable to defend.

3) Punishment, these guys knows how to punish... if you do a move that can be punish, then you can expect punishment from them coming 100% of the time. I'm not just talking about punishing a move after block, I'm talking about things like after blocking first hit of relic A, you can duck second hit and punish. Even if you do kilik A,A out of nowhere, they will be able to block the first hit, then duck the second A and punish on reaction. Yes I know many other player can do it against some specific move, but they do these kind of things all the time against so many different characters, this require great knowledge of the game as well as lot's to practice in order to perform.

And finally, as I mention before, these guys can be VERY aggressive to pressure you to a point where you don't have a moment to think, and yet maintain a very good defense at the same time. I know it seems fairly basic, but this require a very clear mind and confident to perform at high level gameplay. This is probably what impress me the most of their gameplay.

I like that Zasalamel vs. Yunsung match.

Very nice play. Almost tempted me to give Zasalamel another shot.

Kilik vs. Setsuka was ok.

I think both vids were impressive. The kilik and Sets though, that was rather amazing. Thats the best Sets I ever saw..

Ever. Everything was performed so well. Punishment was amazing. That kilik hit the hell out of those Asuras on point each time. Geez man, thats the level of play i want to play against all the damn time! I think everyone needs to see that video.

Damn I see what you mean KnightSpirit, these guys are super aggressive...no single back spacing for reseting, just forward aggressive gameplay. Punishment, step, JFs...their brains must be moving super fast during these fights. Especially Kilik vs Setsuka.

Very impressive.

From the Kilik vs Sets video, you can have an idea of how well they can punish...

example)
1) Kilik use a,a - Sets block first a, duck and punish second a
2) Kilik use A+B - Sets block, duck, punish
3) Kilik use WS K - Sets block first hit, duck and punish (I swear, I have almost never seen anyone able to punish this on reaction... even Chang's friend say he usually can duck the second k, but rarely able to punish in a real fight)
4) Kilik asura completely shut down sets's 1B,B and FC 3b,b which is two of her best move, the sets only use that move twice and it gets GI EVERYTIME.
5) Kilik ability to read low out of no where, sets only use 1a,a,a once and not even near the edge... and he is able to read and block it. (You can probably count the number to low that hit him with 1 hand during that entire match)

There is a lot to see in these 2 vids alone, it might not be the most stylish gameplay, but is very rare to find this level of gameplay on youtube.

I love the aggression of these guys. It really reminds me on the old french/belgium SC2 Videos when it comes to aggression and offense. Its actually fun to watch this vids.

If there is anything i really hate, its the endless stepping when people are like on other sides of the screen, very popular in U.S Vids :) These guys dont play around, they have Anti Strats, even more than the french guys, and show mad skillz with their chars. And of course i recognized all the stuff KnightSpirit mentioned, really really nice Antistrats.

Along with the french Vids the best ive seen so far. Fuckin entertaining.

Really nice stuff thanks knightspirit!

Way to raise the bar guys. I like to see that high level play isn't dead world wide in SC. This type of punish everything, knowledge based play used to be a standard and a must if you ever wanted to compete with the best of the best back in the sc1 early sc2 days. Laziness in SC4 is by design it seems. Victories usually just don't require this amount of dedication. Anyways, this is refreshing.

I seriously hope some more international tourneys rear their head this time around. I think it makes people want to play their best when they're fighting for their country and not personal pride. Though I've never been in top form when other countries visit, I always have the most fun playing...because they ALWAYS play to win.

That was really something different. Punishment from both sides, in both matches. Every GI attempt was successful and spot on. Even the soul gauge was pressured. Very, very nice vids.

I'd love to see one of Yoshi or Astaroth though...

I will comment only what i know :

Setsuka vs Kilik

- The using of Kilik's 3B Series was a mistake imo, if you can't CH confirm, don't do this shitty move!! He used it like 5 times, no one score hit, and 3BB attempt got punished.
- Iam sure that Side WS B 66B 66B is garanted, i don't how the hell Setsuka can Right Tech this one.
- 4K into 88B is a left tech punisher, so if he know that Setsuka will right tech, there was better options than miss 2 66B.
- Btw great using of iFC move, i noticed that althought with Zasalamel.
- And great bait use of 66B into Asura.

Zas vs Yunsung
- Can't really talk about this one, but this Zasa use iFC 3B quite well!!
