I'd certainly hope so. I remember now that I was partway through the next episode with the racecar (or was it a motorcycle?) guy and he was just doing the most awful penis jokes (or where they even jokes?)
 
Um well i do agree that Panty and Stocking gets better, but it never loses that style of humor. It's a lot of curse words, sex jokes and movie references.... lot's of em. The dub reflects that admirably lol.

I like Gundam X quite a bit i will say, definitely my favorite non UC Gundam. Gundam Wing was cool too, one of the first espionage style shows i ever watched and it happened to be a Gundam.
Gundam 00 reflects the same style well too, season 2 didn't do it justice though....... the MOVIE on the other hand had the coolest 20 minute space battle scene i'd seen in years so kudos to Gundam 00 for not being total ass.

To be fair you probably can't expect too much from a show called "Panty and Stocking".

There's a difference between nudity/rape and fan service. Chiefly being that one is meant to titillate for it's own sake and the other isn't. To cite an example for a comparison between the two, the Goat orgy in berserk served to portray the people of the church encampment as being not much better than the demons at the eclipse, equally profane, delighting in their profanity and their baseness and carnality. On the other hand that scene in highschool of the dead where the one girl's boobs are super duper jiggly and the sniper shoots through them serves to portray that that character's boobs are super duper jiggly. There's nothing added to the plot and no statement made. Just as violence is used in Berserk between characters because it is how these violent characters communicate, nudity serves as a plot or symbolic device. Most often I've noticed it used as a visual metaphor for vulnerability. I never surmised that it was supposed to be any more arousing than an anatomy textbook, and if it is to somebody, they probably have some strange fetishes. "Ooooh look at all those naked, emaciated corpses, *FAP FAP FAP*" Does that make sense?

It's going somewhere... just... verrrrry.... slowly. Honestly, you may have done yourself a favor considering it saved you from waiting around on a series that thinks it's pushing itself to release six chapters in a year. That said you can probably catch back up with it in an afternoon or two if it ever strikes you to.

Which is the arrival shortly of Slan, who's sphere is depravity, rape and lust. The cave cultists you referenced earlier btw were worshippers of Slan, who appeared in the flames of thier bonfire in a similar fashion to her troll den, entrails appearance. Thematic recall. Thumbs up to you, AF.
 
Has anyone tried out that new App that was released on the PS3 from Crunchyroll? Just wondering if people checked it out. From what i understand, its an App that is now letting you stream Anime straight to your PS3.
 
It's interesting the difference between Berserk's nudity and Gantz's nudity. IMO I don't consider Berserk's nudity to be fanservice. It's more of an imagery thing, where the world seems to be really fucked up. Gantz's nudity is so obscure you might say it sets the mood/tone...but to me it's just fanservice.

Claymore also has nudity, but I have never really found it fap friendly.

That's your opinion. Fan service in my opinion serves nothing other than sexual appeal to sell shit. Now of course if you're immature then I guess any kind of nudity can turn you on, and I can see how you would consider all nudity as fanservice.

Berserk and Claymore fall into this middle age setting. Where armies/bandits etc attacked villages pillaging and raping women. And they both having these biblical demonic themes going for them. Very Conan the barbarian esque if you will. So having those mangas/anime with nudity/rape actually enhances the setting.

Like in Claymore the symbolism, I think is the word... giving into your desires turns you into a monster completely consumed by hunger and greed. The abyssal ones represent one who's consumed with lust, rage, greed etc. There nudity is symbolic to that point. But it's a grotesque nudity. The warriors themselves are almost never seen fully nude, because apparently their bodies are mutilated. The Juxtaposition of the abyssal ones, the claymores with Sainty names, completely covered up white costumes, represent hope, purity, etc.

So I don't really think that you would get the same depth from the mangas both claymore and berserk without the nudity/rape themes.

Gantz doesn't need the hundred titties alien thingy... it just doesn't.

i agree with KingAce. not everything is fanservice just because it's nudity. if that was the case then nude art and sketchs sole purpose is to arouse people sexually and for no other purpose (which kind of destroys the "art" concept). haven't watch Gantz or Berserk but i've seen movies where there's nudity but not for fan service. the world isn't Black & White
 
FANSERVICE isn't anything nudity related at all, it's anything put in to appease the fans. My opinion on it has nothing to do with the fact they're naked, only to appeal to the fans of each show, because it does.
 
I swear these days there are more UNCENSORED anime spawning, I don't even watch them, I only see the pics from sankakucomplex website, I watch hentai now and read more manga these days, It's just dry....I'm picking up One Piece and other ONGOING series that actually have MEANING!

Your description is different from the colloquial meaning of the word, which is pleasing or enjoyable in nature. By the literal meaning of the word just about anything featured in a work of fiction is service done for the fans, outside of anything created by George Lucas after 1990. The sex that takes place in Berserk during and after the Eclipse is 100 percent brutal and horrific, possibly the direct opposite of "fanservice," as we have come to know it.

Only the the character that it's being done too. It's nature only adds another brutal level of honesty to the show that pleases fans. Just another reason why Berserk is so famous/
