my main problem with the new haruhi season is that i never know when a new ep is out since i'm not actually following the japanese re-broadcast. Other than that, it's really just more of the same, so it doesn't have quite the impact of watching haruhi for the first time. And the OP/ED are nowhere near as awesome or memorable as bouken deshou deshou or hare hare yukai.

Currently watching Bleach, Code Geass, and Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. Let's hope they finish the latter this time. :p

But I also gotta watch Darker than Black, due to very heavy persistence by the guy who recommended it to me. XD

And Claymore, if I can get lucky. Seems like FUNimation already staked their claim on it.

well i agree with the songs, but i LOVE the new OP also, the new OP is pretty cool.

but ya,i mean 6 eps of Endless Eight is too much, the previous director of Haruhi thought so too, the director that left Kyo-Ani after it and the first 4 eps of Lucky Star. He said it shouldn't be more than 3 eps, as it's only a 30 page short story.....but alas he left and they went with 6 whole eps..... and he's disappointed in them for it

@SSJ, both Darker than BLACK and Claymore are pretty good, and both are licensed by FUNimation and are already being put out on DVD, if not finished

I love the new Haruhi OP. The ED song is good; the animation itself is a bit seizure-inducing but it's not bad. Technically it's a better ED than the actual ED of the first season (not the full hare hare yukai, but the version with the credits).

Umineko, the anime is pretty good. First 2 eps were rushed adaptions but it picks up heavily from there. Don't go into it thinking it's Higurashi, though. It's not. And if you like the anime, play the game. It's a lot better. :D I'm surprised it's totally ignored here.

I would assume that a lot of people are watching it. It's arguably the best show this season, though I think I'm liking bakemonogatari more. Haven't read the novel, but imo, as an anime, it has pretty much perfect pacing. I'm not really digging the characters very much, but it does so many things right that I just can't help really liking the show.

The anime skipped a lot in the first 2 episodes, a lot of development and shit. The anime's worst problem so far is that, skipping too much shit. The novels are a lot more complete. You'd dig 'em more in that, trust me.

Ok, i figured I should ask here because you people seem normal. Not like total idiots like regular anime people.
I swear - people who like Lucky Star and the Melancholy of Haruhi-fuck-my-asshole and anime's like them REALLY piss me off.

Im looking for an anime thats similar to Beck - meaning it features a realistic depiction of slice of life and the main character isn't a girl or a fucking retarded boy.

Come on animefreak... i know u know some.

A show like Beck happens maybe once every 3 years. For every Beck, you have maybe 4 or 5 slice of life shows featuring 4 (or maybe 5 if they're feeling really creative) girls doing random stuff in a single season. You can thank Azumanga Daioh for that probably. The worst culprit is K-On! which is absolutely atrocious if you watch it expecting it to be anything about playing music.

As for a recommendation, you should probably be more specific as to what kind of show you're looking at and be willing to be more flexible, as you generally only see male protagonists in action/mech/harem anime, none of which I would characterize as realistic, and most of which the male characters are totally douches.

wow Funk...... a reality based slice of life NOT maining a female AT ALL or a boy who isn't a complete retard? WTF Panda, i dunno if you get how seriously difficult that is.

uhh let me see.........Genshiken? Main is a dude, not a complete loser but it's heavily anime based and aimed already existing anime fans. ugh...... Air, Kanon or Clannad, but those sorta dabble in fantasy or magic a bit and also drama heavy towards the ends. Nodame Cantabile. another music heavy one about a good composer student and his life through conducting and much much more. The Legend of Black Heaven? NOT really down to earth, but it's a very good music show that is mainly slice of life but turns into a cool little sci-fi twist that i like. lol Bartender maybe? An anime about bartending and different drinks.

but you can take these lightly since you need to know..... I too like Lucky Star and Haruhi

So yeah. Minami Kana beat Mio in this year's Saimoe. I'm happy with the result, but seriously, who would have predicted that? My guess...a lot of people realized that Mio is hands down one of the most popular characters this year and decided to vote against her to give their own favorites a fucking chance. Minami-ke is ridiculously popular, but beating out Mio from a show that just ended a month ago is insane.

The main problem I have with Saimoe is the insane amount of repeat appearances we see every year. This will be the third year in a row of Lucky Star, since the first season qualified for two years because it went from April to September, and this year the OVA qualifies. Imo, you should get one appearance per season, any more is just dumb.

An interesting observation, the two most represented voice actors by far are kugimiya rie and mamiko noto, pretty much my 2 favorite. This year's brackets are loaded though with random OVA's and second seasons letting in a ridiculous amount of old names. Lucky Star, Clannad, Hayate no Gotoku, Higurashi, Haruhi, Zero no Tsukaima, School Rumble, Minami-ke, (hidamari sketch, though I didn't really like it) not to even mention all the new shows this season. Even ancient anime like Evangelion are in the mix.

Seriously, the only shows missing that could have made this year bigger would have been Rozen Maiden and Nanoha (both seriously needing sequels anyways). I'll be rooting for Kotomi and Katagiri Yuuhi, but there are so many good characters that I'll probably be happy with most of the likely results to actually win the stupid thing.

Fate and Nanoha everytime, Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura i vote for and Mei from Clannad, after that it's whether i like someone over someone else.

Pretty much its a stupid internet popularity contest done on 2ch every year where a bunch of otaku try to decide which anime character was the most moe that year. It is in general, utterly dominated by lolis and characters with rabid fanbases, and most of all, lolis with rabid fanbases. Seriously, last year Hinagiku, Tomoyo, Nagisa, and Fuuko all made top 8, and top 2 were kagami and tsukasa (which is really lame because although Kagami is awesome, Tsukasa only beat Hinagiku because a lot of people wanted to watch Kagami destroy Tsukasa).

and on top of this it doesn't matter at all? it's just a high end poll, just take it for fun. Hell i vote for Ryogi Shiki almost everytime although she isn't really Moe at all, just cuz
