ah, i see. well, in my defense i didn't give up on Kension after that. i watch it a little more through and then caught the last episodes because everyone was saying it was so great. i still didn't like it that much though. i didn't like HOTD but i still watch a lot of it. i give things a chance no matter what they are.
 
I dropped Bleach and other things like it because I preferred to steer clear away from shonen yet I prefer some anime called The Knight in the Area(shonen soccer basically). Call me a hypocrite, but I prefer this anime over Bleach because it feels new to me. Of course I'll soon meet someone like animefreak who could tell me the 411 that certain anime have been done like that before. It's just regurgitated stuff. Well shoot, here comes the high and mighty yet unintentionally haughty(since online's tone of voice being anonymous) know it all of anime just to shoot me down.


I'll just say this. I find certain anime cliche/mediocre/guilty pleasure most times, then I actually find ones worth my time. What animefreak says may be as sweet as cake yet I'm leaning towards Kenjitsu on this one. Sure we should give anime a chance and all that, but sometimes I prefer to just drop something that doesn't suit me. It's just subjective preferences.


Nowadays, I'm just weeding out anime and enjoying it more than critiquing it. However, it becomes kinda hard to just enjoy anime with a certain scenario and watch it happen a million times over. Thus, I have to set my standards low just to enjoy meh-nime better. Still at times, I wish I could watch an anime that just blows me away. Until then, stuff like Clannad, Higurashi, Seto no Hanayome, G-Gundam, and Cross Game for instance have wowed me to call them my classic favs haha.
 
Lol i actually haven't seen Area no Kishi yet so i have no idea. Sports anime is a huge mixed bag because it ranges from stuff trying to be action like Eyeshield or PoT to something far greater and beyond the sport like Cross Game. So who knows. I have to see it.
But ya it could very well just be another Captain Tsubasa.

MOST anime is cliche and just knock offs of the next thing, as is MOST anything about anything ever. It's the world we live in. It's now about how they tell it over what it is, been that way for a while. So you can always quit something because you're not a fan of what it is, and nobody will (or should) call you out for it for any reason because it isn't your cup of tea. But it's a two way street, you quit it or even state you dislike it's genre and you don't have a say in how good it is.

I like how you through in G-Gundam with that list of fantastic shows.

G-Gundam was just so cheesy yet awesome. I'd facepalm, I'd cheer, I'd mope, and then I'd chuckle. So far it's the only Gundam show where I actually would act like an absolute seven year old and yell out "Burning finger". Oddly enough I shuffle in my memory banks and remember Zombie Desu Ka with the "Mystlelain kick" with the "that ain't a kick" retort. And just have to say "That ain't a burning finger, that's a burning hand to the face".

Lol i understand that entirely. I love G-Gundam myself, i mean it isn't amazing, but it's FUN and by god do i love me that Burning Finger chant.

Yeah, it's contagious. I remember reading a youtube comment like this:
Gundam saved my life. There was this bully in my school in which he would always pick on me and called me names because I was shy. Then one day, he went too far and a crowd started to form. The best Gundam show is easily Turn A. It's so good, and it's nowhere near as popular as it should be. I thought it would be terrible until I actually watched it myself. Bandai can go eat a dick for not giving it an American release.

Also, I definitely enjoy G Gundam, but it would be hard for me to honestly call it a fantastic anime, lol.

I might trust you and watch Turn A. I think it's stupid how the producers didn't allow the protagonist to be female. I heard Loran was supposed to be female. It would have been interesting. I think I'll give it a watch so I can claim I've watched all Gundam series.
 
It would actually be interesting to have a female protagonist instead of the typical male ones. A great combo breaker for the Gundam franchise.
 
I have also heard the rumor that Tomino or someone else high up wanted the protagonist to be female, but I don't think I've ever heard a confirmed source on that story. Loran is less of an effeminate male, and more of someone completely genderless anyway.

HARIMA MOTHA- KENJI!!!! That anime was made up of so much win. That is one anime series im waiting for to come out on blu ray.

PS: xD not a mecha fan but G gundam was amazing at times. I even watched nadesico and liked it to a extent. Panty and stockings also caught my interest. That had me dying xD.
 
I tried Panty and Stocking and thought it sucked. Admittedly I only gave it one episode but the humor was too much brainless potty humor. I don't even have anything about crude jokes it's just that in this case I didn't find it funny.
