I watched Elfen Lied a few months ago. Some people call it a 'Masterpiece' others say it forced too much sympathy on Lucy.

I thought of it as 'unique' and 'addicting' because there aren't too many gory animes that I know of with a good quality story.

Dude I love the shit out of 20th Century Boys. Those guys are good. Never heard of Pluto, might check that out.

In the mean time watching Bersek Golden Age Egg of the High King...shit looks clean.

It's an entirely different universe really. Both movies were stories were in their universe and the series is in it's. And the 3rd movie, or SSS is in the series universe.
Also the title of the series hints at that also, STAND ALONE

I also believe that GiTS SAC , both seasons, is some of the best anime out there and wish it was still going on. It's everything Jdub said it was and more. It's also one of, if not THE, best US dubs of an anime ever. But again the show is full of itself, not in a bad way, but it creates it's own world so thoroughly that you need to pay attention.

The only thing that could've made it better is if it had Shirow Masamune's trademark cybersex sequences in it. But that's just me lol.

Just saw it myself, and I hate to say it but my prediction:


Shit will not end well.

At first I was like "good, they settled that pretty quickly without the usual will they, won't they runaround". But before the word "good" had even finished coming out I said "ooouhh No wait... Bad maybe? It's too soon. It's too much, too cheerful, too soon." Like he's gonna get to retire to an idyllic life away from fighting? No, he's the protagonist and it's too soon for the show to end. Between all the promises of sticking together, protecting each other, not dying, Asuna's ominous dreads and Kirito's advising Asuna to join a guild in the first place we have all the ingredients for a tragedy.

Did they go back to the guild and report what happened? Cause if they didn't the guild is probably gonna come calling. "You murdered two members of the guild." "No we didn't." "Who says, the renegade girl who wanted to leave anyhow and the stranger who wanted to take her?" That won't go well. They probably can't beat the whole guild let alone the fact tank dude can take Kirito one on one. Or could hire assassins. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. Because I can see it going that way.

Maybe the guild will just forget about them, or maybe they'll get attacked ending happy-peaceful-time but both survive... Damnit I'm speculating... And I hate speculation. Come to think of it, they kinda threw me a curveball by not dragging that romance out forever, maybe they'll throw me another one and avoid the obvious tragedy.

Hey chuck, I forgot to ask but have you seen "Baccano!"? It's about immortals and gangsters and immortal gangsters. Also the show is bloody and the dub is fantastic.

Pluto is pretty interesting. It's a reteing of an old Astro Boy arc as done by tr Monster author, though very dark and serious. It sounds weird, and it is, but you may be surprised how compelling it is.

I was in total agreement. I don't know what that's supposed to prove but with murderous guilds running about it seems like an especially bad idea. And if you've played an MMO before then you know exactly how quickly things can go from "jim-dandy" to "every man for themselves!".
