Patroklos Q&A/Discussion Thread

When in full crouch what's the best options when not punishing? I use wrA+B alot but when the person knows Pat, its gets punished, same with wrkA.

Full crouch, hm.

Well, lessee... wrA+B is a little safer than wrKA to just "throw out"... wrB is alright, it rarely gets punished... 4K/44A if you are close enough, CH 6BBB works sometimes.

Personally I like mashing the 2A/2K. Forward dash out if the other guy gets complacent.

...oh.
My mistake. I figured since the second hit was unsafe, doing only the first should be safe.. c:
Yeah, -18, it's only "safe" because of the threat of the followup hit... I think you can wait it out and confirm an AA or BB though, at least.

236AB works well for how much space it covers. Unsafe, but I catch people with empty 236A all the time. That's unsafe too, but the risk is not that bad (especially if they want to JG that B).

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can option select JG on 236AB. So you can tap for the second hit but punish if its just the A, as I said not 100% sure, but I think I heard a commentator say that's what a player was doing.

All depends on who you play. Most people aren't using JG right, much less option select JG.

If they were getting i16 punish off of that option select you might have to elaborate for me, but the risk is eating an AA or BB maximum, I'd say. If it gets to be a problem you can just stop using 236A, gotta work on your adaptation skills anyway, right?

True words. Tbh it might not have been full punish, I can't even remember the match so I can't go back and see.

:B:
break. Mash to increase number of hits. Opponent mashes to decrease # of hits. RO FORWARD
this was on the wiki, i dont know where to post this but whoever can edit it should change "mash" to "spin the joystick." even though we all of us already know that i play a lot of people who dont know how to reduce the number of hits properly

You can mash inputs to increase the amounts of hits/speed, sir.

Edit: Yeah, just went into training to make sure. You can get all seven hits without touching the joystick mashing directions.

Edit 2: And boy, oh boy, do I love the 66B+G tech traps.. CE (front/back/right), 3K (all), and 236B (front/back). c:

(236AB)

Gawd after all these months I use that move as much as I do 1k
Guys I need another move that will break this habit.

Seconded. 44A is great. -2 on block CE on CH? yes please.

3A also works well. Don't forget 4K up close.

Why are you trying to stay off of 236AB though? It's a very good move. Nice tech crouch, 50 DMG, catches sidestep and backstep at the right range, horizontal mid, reverse mixup on block...

I love the move but the thing is that Id like some different options. The liberal use of 236a for me is almost nauseating.
People at locals are like "USE A FUCKING DIFFERENT MOVE."

If it works,

use it

all day.

Tell them to go to hell. Then ask for their email and send them this link.

For real though, it sounds like the guys you play with don't like Pyrrha. Or Mitsurugi. Or Nightmare.
You don't how hard I laughed after watching that stuff. Funny thing the people I play with main those guys.
Since Pat's Oki game is very strong what do you think I should go for after a 236a hard kockdown? I usually follow up with Flipkick of Infinite Meter to catch people or 1B.

You can do whatever you like. 3B/1K/throw mixup is what I'd go for. You have a fair amount of advantage IIRC, and you're pretty close, so the other guy's pretty much yours.

You can use 1B/2B+K/44B/2K/throw if you wanna play safer.

Cool, and this is pretty off-topic but whats your main approach for getting in besides 66B dash gaurd

I'll be detailing that in an article around this Monday.

Basically, if I'm not using 66B, I'm usually either doing run-up guard, or bait a whiff and punish, or just balls-out run up in their grill and get close that way.
