RIP Team Edward
I agree that Raph is very linear, and that it is a weakness; however, Raph has always been linear, and that has always been his weakness. Keep in mind that 2A tracks, 66A tracks, throws track SE A tracks 8A+B tracks, etc. If someone knows how to deal with prep rush (which is terrible in this game) then don't use it. If they don't know what to do, then dominate the bajeesus out of them.
It is frustrating, and hard, I agree, and I don't play it to have fun, really, but I play it to be the best. Losing happens, losing to people that are worse than me also happens, but I gotta just suck it up, figure out wtf I did wrong, and try not to do it anymore. I keep tellign myself to use more 2A, more 8A+B, use 6K instead of 8K, stay the fuck out of prep - gotta change all the things I did in 4 (and other previous games) that are not as good and need to figure out new things, where necessary. Do I wanna ChaCha my controller across the room? Yes, very often, but I haven't yet, because I don't wanna lose $60 bucks (especially since I just had everything stolen out of my car, ghey).
TL;DR - Be patient, and you'll figure it out - there is no easy button on Raph.
