Raphael General Discussion

everyone has turtled up when i hit them with 44AB(on block), which on the brightside means it's basically a free soul guage damaging move if you just want to randomly throw it out.

Well yeah. Let them turtle..it's free soul gauge damage and if their gauge is already flashing they are more likely to attack/GI which opens it up for more damaging options. One of my favorite thing's about the soul gauge system in SC4 is how you can immedietly see the difference in an opponent's playstyle once their gauge starts flashing and you can start to exploit those things.

p.s. dont mind tiamat. He's a closet bully

Uhhh..... use horizontals and kicks? Seriously, if he consistently counters your verticals with it, it's because you're being too predictable with them (Other characters could often step you in the same situation).

so could u name any good a moves besides a4 and 1k to help me against the stance ?

Fffffffff....... you have a whole repertoire of horizontals and kicks to use, if Yun just enters the stance. If it's still giving you issues, then tell us what situations he specifically uses it.

against yun :
After crane K is blocked by raph, a 2A usually scores me a CH, though i also use 6K. In fact use 6K once he is close enough. It's possible to TJ against crane 2K too!

Careful, Yun can use CR B+K G after CR K is blocked to leap over any mid that's i15 or slower. I don't know if 6K can knock him out of it, but it'd be worth testing what your options are (Assuming you'll have to fight competent Yun players, lol).

Here's a comprehensive list of Yun's CR options: http://www.8wayrun.com/f49/cr-transition-analysis-thread-t1817/

What's a good opening move for Raphael? I usually open with 236 B since it's very fast. Does anybody else have a good opener?

22_88 VE B:B starts good faster then 236B and is an auto step with about the same range

heh according to frame data 236B should be faster..but it may be an input problem.

Ivy is the only character i have trouble hitting with 236B if they backstep (may be an online thing)

yeah your right

but it takes less effort to pull 236B out

plus people like AIN666 will block and punish

About the only way you're going to punish 236B (-12, iirc) is if you're using Setsuka, and can properly use the JF umbrella. VE BB is -20 or something, which is much worse.
