SC:BD Explained!

Look, I want to see the SC community make a huge comeback just as much as the next guy, but expecting this game to be ported to console is just ridiculous. Shoot, expecting another patch for SC4 is wishful thinking. The almighty $ says so.

Are you guys forgetting when Namco "confirmed" that Vader and Yoda would not be DLC?

Exactly!!! Lying and denying rumors is a company's way to create anticipation and hype.

Although on the negative side, Project Soul doesn't seem to be big in logic. A company should base most of it's decisions on the demand/supply thing but Namco failed to deliver before with SC3:AE for console. Most of us wanted this ported to console and it never happened.

However, there is also the positive, T5 DR. Namco must know, as ID said, that the PSP isn't the most profitable place to put this on. A game like this where is obvious that they spent time tweaking and refining details for characters come from the demand from most of us for a patch and if they want the big time $$$ for their efforts, the wisest move is to put this for the consoles with online play and people will pay for it instead of the PSP and it's troubles with the hackers which means loss of revenue.

Back to DR, DR came first for arcade, then PSP, then console. I think Namco wants to gain as most $$$ as possible before the inevitable move to console where the big revenue awaits. If they don't do this, we have to wonder if the different development teams have also different administrative liberties as well since Project Soul is ignoring twice the demand for this product on console which it isn't smart business on their part.

====== DOUBLE POST AUTO-MERGE ======
This fact alone really does help the argument that Namco will make BD downloadable eventually. They will realize they aren't making any money on BD because a fighting game on a handheld is pretty much always a bad idea for business. Especially when the DS sales compared to the PSP look like Usain Bolt running in the Special Olympics. You would have thought they learned their lesson from T5 but it looks like not. It probably didn't cost much to port SC4 and add 2 new characters and stages so it shouldn't cost much to port them in a patch and charge us 20 bucks for it. Who knows, maybe they'll port it over in the form of a brand new game and charge us MORE money! Although, I'd imagine they'll have to rehash some character they had before *cough Spawn, Necrid cough* cause I don't see Sony allowing them to have Kratos on Xbox.

Agreed!!!

As for the characters, that's no problem at all. Just remove Kratos and put the mimic character. (Edgemaster/Olcadan)

That's the easiest solution and the cheapest one without much effort from Project Soul. I wish they added Li and Hwang as well (especially Li) but that's just wishful thinking for me, but Kratos is easily subbed by any of these 3 and they avoid the mess of yet ANOTHER guest character scenario nonsense.

Seems like flashing red gauges wont be replenished by the next round. This guy got Soul crushed at the start of the final round lol. (2:50) Interesting. Ppl need to purge their armour at the start of the round?

Yeah. On the flip side, though: Armor Purge seems to jam your gauge into flashing blue and get it stuck there. It can still be worn back down, but it's not easy or likely.

SU, questions. Do you know the biggest damage and RO combo of FCC2B in SC:BD?
Does the C3->C3[A]->C2B->C2[A]A difficult to do? Does it still good for RO?
Thanks.

Not sure I will test today and have the answer for u later today!

PhilBond:

Fair enough I can see where ur coming from! As far as the info about the confirmation things like that happen for a number of games and it comes out true but in a number of cases it also comes out false. So it could really go either way. As far as people losing their job on the issue yeah I tend to read a number of forums etc. and I know the general rule. o basically i relayed what i heard but will not mention anything else in the slightest as thats the rule thats usually followed.

I was shown today that when you GI a TJing move in BD instead creating the normal post GI situation, it launches the attacker.

I'm not sure if ur talking about a third GI animation but the one Shenou was referring to u can't get any launchers from them as the character falls on their ass literally and u can't get anything but chip ground damage. Their may be one or two characters that could get something valuable from it though. Maybe Rock since he can grab u off the ground?

This is hot because its damn near impossible to get a CF now in this game. Last night I tested the CF guage and omg regular GI's thrash the guage in 10 which makes me think JI's thrash in 5 cause I could get 3 in a row at most since its hard to do consecutively and damn it wrecks that mf. So they are going crazy with the GI system in this game.

Wow, running forward replenishes your gauge REALLY fast.

Also, armor breaking not only causes more damage, but more SG damage too, and when you have a full, glowing gauge you also increase the SG damage done to your opponent. So if you have a full gauge and your opponent's armor is broken, A+B+K will take about 2 fewer hits to CF. Interesting.

Wow, I didn't think I would, but I found some changes to one of my characters, and I don't like them.

This has probably been posted elsewhere, but I'm not sure.

Nightmare:

1A,K has been replaced with 1aK. It only works as a slide input. Can't be delayed. I guess catching people trying to jump 1A was too awesome. :(

6B:B only works when soul charged. I guess since just frames are so easy now, they decided it was too good for ring-outs? Or maybe they wanted to make charged state seem like it had more uses? Booo.

Oh, and they gave the just frame flash look to Siegfried's ia:g:A or some other A. I didn't try to do it myself yet. Whatever.

No, not a parry. I know there's some confusion around here sometimes about which way is GI and which way is parry, but I'll just step around that with notation. If you 6G or 3G someone out of an attack that tech jumps, you'll launch them, possibly for a hilarious ring-out. I lol'ed when I first 3G'ed Raphael out of the move where he hops and tries to stomp on your toe.

Go into training and 6G Nightmare or Siegfried out of their 44K. You'll see it. Warbling a full speed aerial kick will never be the same.

Yes, you can still earn a CF with a launching GI, and I think a launching JI will actually send them higher, more like a good 3B would.

Like whoa ~ Interesting indeed =)

So a full gauge finally does something for you now!

Seems that a parry (4G) into the wall doesn't do damage anymore to the opponent.

At around 0:40, Mitsu parries NM into the wall and he receives no damage.

This explains why certain CF based characters have been changed so much.

I'm looking at you, Mina.

So, CF is for everyone now? Doesn't bother me a bit.

The way it's set up now, I've gotten CF with Maxi within one round. (Thanks in part I'm sure to the goofy turtling AI.)

Are you saying in the current SC4 build that when your guage is flashing blue that you will deal more soul damage?

Also, running forward charges up your guage as well?

Can someone answer me and confirm that in SC4's current form that a glowing blue SG (which you get from attacking a lot), leads to more SG damage? Also, does running forward cause the gauge to go blue as it does in BD?

I was saying that I've gotten a CF within one round with Maxi in BD. I drew no conclusions other than that you can build a CF much faster with Maxi in BD.

So far the change of mechanics in Broken Destiny looks interesting. The character balancing and changes would vary between characters and ppl would have very different views.

Im not gonna start a flame post about how Ivy is totally gimped here. As it has happened before when Taki, Zasalamel players saw their chars transition from SC3>SC4 and ppl got over it. Tho Im not gonna lie, but they did a horrendous job at patching Ivy, and mbe even Mina which she clearly doesnt need.

Tho imagine the following:

Seigfried stance roulette becomes a single path flowchart. Once you spin one direction, u have to keep spinning that way.
Setsuka's CH 33B gives you nothing? Nightmare's GS A gives u nothing?
Amy no longer gets 6BB? (The pissoff move)
I still dont qualify to feel for Maxi players SC3>SC4 but its that down feeling. :(

They turned Ivy's stance transition into shit, removed 4-5 decent tools, nerf damage, nerf options and her RO game. Is the guy doing this an amateur? Does the character direction have to follow their lame char ratings? Obscene.

They designed the char movelist. They had a vision. Why are they backlashing on good concepts and making the game dull for certain chars and players. People use time to research new and useful things. Its just ridiculous for them to withdraw it and give nothing in return.

For other ppl being happier with the game itself. Continue and have a Good day. Its a new game.

Tough breaks for Ivy and Mina huh?
Are Zas players the only ones who are dancing around singing?

Remember: It only takes 30min to figure out what no longer works. Figuring out new possibilities is a whole different matter.
