SCV Ivy Video Thread

It combos on NH with standard 22B. 22B itself KND on normal hit but has no guaranteed followups, 22B BE launches high and the GB move is guaranteed. The move is a mid and gives positive frames on block, also leaves the opponent close to Ivy.

At this moment it appears good but still needs more testing, I want to know if the opponent can interrupt or step it (both will render it completely useless so I hope not) BT mixup is weaker, though. BT 2K doesn't knockdown anymore in SCV.
 
Hmm this I notice SW 22k(now 1k I think), looks slower and is alot more punishable. Her SW 44k, is slower. And her old SW 3[K] has a weird start animation when you compare it to SC3 version (hope they change that to make it look the same in SC3). Her WR B is probably going to be one her is 10 ten moves in SC5

Also the more I see A+G (BE) and Ivy's CE, the more I think its not reactable. I think if Ivy has a move from netural that uses BE and where she glow yellow that can be mix up with SS grab. For 2A and CE looks like a very good set up.
 
1K is exactly SC4's SW 22_88K (NOT 2A+K), it's about i28 and -18 on block. It's gonna get blocked way more often and heavily punished.

Only 6B8 BE but it's high and probably punishable on hit.

Ring why do you duck so much against Pat, its quite untypical for you. Scared of 1K? Anything i dont know?

That was my first time playing against Patroklos. I had literally no idea what he was doing. I was punishing with BB and AA using my instincts, haha. I'm not sure about his lows, but I saw everyone whoring his and Pyrrha's super slow 1AA series in the casuals and no one could block them because of the new animation so I guess I panicked a bit ;)

My biggest problem was pad config and the lag on the main stage wasn't helping, too. I still did OK I think, considering Keysona had played the game many times before PGW.

I mean, come on guys the game is totally new. Ivy has changed, new moves, new inputs, new characters, the pace of the game has changed. It will take some time til everything is discovered.

Also one question, Ivy was glowing yellow while you did SS. Does SS still has the same input or has it changed?
Or is it a normal throw now just with BE?
 
It's a normal throw now. Also, in the newest build the BE effect has changed (to worse), now the entire screen shines yellow not only the character. Visually, the effect looks even worse than before.
 
lol, I saw 1K use only once in this video and it already got punished.

Ring, does it feel like at times you have to rush with Ivy more now?

Yeah, I think so.

She will require a totally new game plan because you can't play her like in SCIV. You can't just stay away all the time and build critical gauge with 6[ B ]2_8 since the move is so bad now and whiffs all the time + it can be Just Guarded on both hits = death.

The french are just really boring players lol (no offense, I appreciate you guys uploading videos). They don't take risks, even when the risk/reward is in their favor. They'd rather back off and have no chance of getting hit despite having better implied odds if they attack. Instead they get their damage from guaranteed situations like whiff punishes. This style offers some consistency since it never leaves anything to chance.

In SCV I plan to crush this style by step-in guarding at low disadvantage, seeing if they backed off and continuing my offense if they do, while guarding and possibly JGing in a good position if they decided to attack.

Check out the way the developers play in the recent stream, so much more fast paced and exciting.

The issue with A+G (BE) is that it's likely possible to break it on reaction. She doesn't have a B+G (BE). Mixing up a mid with a yellow flash and A+G (BE) is not a mixup.
 
so is cervantes not going to be in sc5? weird that they would have ivy and not cervantes, he's ivy's father, but isnt he like her nemesis too?
 
We don't know. Besides, this isn't the right place to ask such questions. You should check Soulcalibur casual or Soulcalibur V (Multi) sections.

On a side note, Namco should upload new direct-feed videos of me and Malek soon, stay tuned.
 
Am I the only that when I first saw Ivy, I thought, 'This is the one for me'. I love her design for SCV! Can't wait for a 2P costume that was also good in IV. Hope you and Malek did not disappoint us, Ring ;D

No you are not the only one. Ivy is my dream woman. =)
I try to find a woman who looks like her in real life but no success so far... lol.

And yes her design in SCV is really cool. More classy, so she can't get a cold lol.
 
I'm a little disappointed she doesn't have different whip states. It added a lot more to her arsenal. And also Serpents Embrace, I rather liked that stance...

Also

She's got a freaking magic bow.

i agree its really lame how she doesnt atleast have one other stance,some people like it more because she has everything all in one now but i dont because they have pretty much ruined the fun and diversity of using her along with it now, SE however would apparently make her worse now from what i gathered a while back,because she can do her SE moves from her normal stance now i guess that does add a hint of unpredictability

i woudnt have minded it all so much if you didnt have to friggin move right up to the opponent to fight well now,that is not ivy shes always been able to fight at different ranges well,its really put me off

I hope she doesn't get ten times easier and everywhere you go, Ivy's there customized as a barbie or something...
But we all complain now, I'm sure we'll get used to her then start bitching about how we ever managed to play her in any other game.
Currently doing that with SC2. <_>
