Just guard 1B:B second hit next time.
It is at least -15 on JG and can be done on reaction.
In alpha mirrors that's a 70-80 dmg punish.

Yeah, JG will really change how the game is played as time goes on, that aPat player JGed a lot of moves. I think he is just really good with timing. 70-80 punish = 2x JF twister? Most characters can't punish -15 for anything close to 70-80. Risk/reward is still really skewed to aPat's fav compare to any other character. A few month down the line we should see some crazy aPat in tournaments.

Omega Pyrrha can - DNS B:4. In fact, she gets more than aPat without him getting clean hits.
As for 'that aPat player' that was Whoaahhz - of course he'd look strong, lol.
Finally, aPat is the best low -frame punisher in the game, what were you expecting? =P

Would it work if QS4G and step bG were nerfed (effectively making step/qs like they intended) but allowing you to attack early if the game detects the other player whiffed? Kinda need to keep the reward for a correct read since it would be a commital defense. I know namco already knows how to detects whiffs because of SC4 Mitsu's 22/88 A.

An even better StepG is QS4G. The beginning of a Quick Step is backdash cancellable, and guarding after allows you block i13 AAs if you do this at +0. So basically, StepG is back and better than ever, it just takes timing and execution now. Things are the way they should be :)
If you block Omega's 66B and then step, can you block her 236A using this method?

Can someone test this? I can't do it right now.

That's actually kind of ass, if that's true.

Her 66B is -2. 236 is i16. So yes, It should be possible to block it using that technique.

Also, StepG sucks retarded seadonkey labia and has never NEVER done the game any good. If Namco has any semblance of care left for the game, they will fix this.

Didn't want to be the first to post this for.. obvious reasons, but to be frank, this has taken the wind out of my sails about this game in a big way.

I can live with the high damage to cover up imbalances (as high damage is often a "patch job" for character imbalance).

I can live with G8 nullifying the already weak m/l mixup present in the game.

I can live with jG watering down option choices as the proficiency in it's use increased. I can even live with the idea that some moves were designed intentionally to tell you "learn to just guard" (Hilde C3A, I'm looking at you.)

But QStep-G on top of that?

I don't know if I can live with that.

The people crying about Step-G, never really played Soul Calibur properly. They want step-G to be the be-all end-all like in SC2. You scrubs need to learn how to play the game properly. You don't even need Step-G or quick step, as long as you step LATER. ie. Right before the attack.

When you step/quick step too early, the moves will be given enough time to track and stuff you. Step at the last moment and you will leave them wide open for punishes.

Its really, REALLY pathetic when people see something change that they relied so heavily on, and cry that it needs a patch, or needs a fix, or Why Namdai Why.

Adapt or Die. Bitchez.

Noob question since Pocky Yoshi is very curious: What character do you think you'll see a lot in majors?

I'm guessing Omega will be around a lot. How about you guys?

I feel like Natsu will be a lot less viable down the road as people study her to death as almost every soul area has been doing in the past couple weeks. Maybe it's because of the character I play as, but I feel like Nightmare is incredibly easy to punish.

I say stepG's gotta go, and everyone who's with me should be annoying the ever-living shit out of Daishi and Project Soul to fix it, even if it's not easily fixed. A lot of people have put in a lot of their free time to get people to play this game, and I for one sure as hell don't want Namco to make us regret it.

inb4 litany of posts defending stepG and all the retardation that it implies...
