Siegfried vs IVY

Out of all of his matchups she seems to give me the most trouble. Up close she destorys him pretty much, at mid range he has the adv, but she has that insta SS move that really hurts his mid range game as well. What are some good ways to deal with ivy?

By SS do you mean side step? That junk is very unsafe on block, in general at most ranges beyond close Ivy has bad frames, block more if you think you can't beat the attacks and retort with aA+K or w/e other quick ranged move you can muster. In close dont do anything unsafe like 3 cause SW 6 will eat you alive. Instead use something really safe on block or that threatens another hit (such as 66K) then step and punish linear whiff.

I don't play seig so I can't give as many specifics as I'd like, but Ivy shouldn't be owning you at mid range, especially not with 214 unless you're being way too aggressive.

The thing to watch out up close is that Ivy doesn't use a whole lot of highs. Making your TC's, like 3B pratically useless. Keep at midrange and use (a+k)A and aga if you can. 3A isn't bad either.

ivy has alot of Horizontals so B+K should try to be used, mainly focus on safe moves with alot of range and then moves like 6k, 3k, 3A ect for when she is close

from my experience
coiled stance is the most difficult to deal with
the sword and whip also good but still conditional

so I think keep your distance and using a fast poke
like 1K , B6 , 4K etc will help
so u can interrupt and press her
try not too far away from Ivy
stay on sieg attack range will be good :)

Make sure you're paying attention to her stance in a fight. If you're have trouble with 214b or 214, block it and then punish her. 214b is something around -21 frames on block, and 214 is -26 on block.

SW should be a troubling stance, as she can punish most of your failed roulette tactics and blocked 3's up close with her 6, producing a shakable stun on hit. CL shouldn't be too big of a problem other than 214, but once again, highly punishable, and everything she does out of SE is easily blocked on reaction (I think SE A+K is a 29 frame low :P).

alright I just played an ivy today, and it was one of those pro ivy's wit like a billion combos, maybe even tech traps? any suggestions to defend? i couldnt even get a single hit in, I was all on the defensive, or do i just suck?

you have to pay attention to what stance shes in, each stance has strengths in different areas, just keep in mind which is good at long range, mid range, and short range. Which can lead to big combos, and two stances has their own designated command throw (meaning ivy can only do that throw from that stance, i.e.: CS can only be done when her sword is not in whip stance or semi whip stance)

The unblockable from SE is pretty fast and annoying, however, you can step right to dodge it, even after being hit by 214

be sure to try for yourself, as tight sidesteps like this are often character specific, though in this case I think it will be fine

Sidestepping can be dangerous, but learn to notice the punishable moves. For example, one of her moves (not sure what it's called or the input), Ivy steps forward while doing a 3 hit whip state combo. It may appear that all hits are mid, but the last hit of the combo is high. Duck, and WS B. If it's somehow on counter, follow up with the familiar slide input combo; if not, just use SCH B.
