Siegfried Vs. Thread

I'm getting a little more used to fighting that annoying brat, thanks. Another character I've been having trouble with is Siegfried...what's the best way to approach this mirror match? Using him is one thing but fighting him sometimes can be very tricky.

I'm the same way, but try to exploit what you know about him, his unsafety. If they play safe, mix them up.

From my experience, Sieg has the upper hand against Tira. Tira has some decent range that allows her to stand up against close and mid range, but against long range, she really only has JS 33_66_99AA, which is unsafe on block, but it can rape the shit out of sidestep. She also has UD (Updraft), with which she can cover impressive distance. UD B is +2 on block, if I recall correctly, so you can usually expect a grapple, 2K, BB, BT B+K, or 44K (if you're fighting a BF whore). When a Tira gets going, you have to be very cautious of what you do, because Tira has some really nice frame traps and grapple range (about equal to Siegfried's) to keep you in check. JS 6AB and JS 44AA are great for frame trapping with Tira, so try not no beat out their followup, unless you know your response will beat out their followup (quite unlikely). A lot of Tira's stuff is pretty punishable, JS 2AB and JS 33_66_99A guarantee free hits on block, and I think UD A and UD K might be punishable on block. Siegfried is usually safe against GS B+K, due to range causing the grapple to whiff (free 3B), the fact that Sieg has a decent balance of mids, lows, and highs, and the fact that if they whiff the impact, the Tira will suffer major damage. Watch out with SCH K and SCH B, because they are easy targets for GS B+K, so mixing in SCH A can stop their attempts to use the auto-impacter. Tira has a nice amount of tech jumping attacks, and your stances may end up being slaughtered by 6K if you're not careful. Tira's TC is decent, but she's no Sophitia, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm not sure how much Tira can do against a:g:A, so this might be a valid option. I also find 3B great for keeping the bitch out of your face, and I also often employ 3A, 6A, and a+kA.

How about some anti Kilik tactics. If the Kilik is using a lot of pokes and playing keep away it's hard for me to close ground. Up close I have a lot of trouble against a Kilik that is playing it safe.

You have to play safe too. Use a lot of B6 for attack, and keep evading all the way. Force then to hit you low and then pull 44BB to punish. You have to use yourself to find the perfect distance in the stage to evade and attack. Kilik's soul crushing game its not very good, so use this against it and abuse of the guard.

Always try to learn how to play with the characters that are giving you some bad moments. It will help you to find the true about the weak and strong points. At this point I know how to play with Asta, Ralph, Mitsu, Zaza, Night, Cervy, X, Sophitia and Hilde.

Any advice on Algol? I fought Crow Winters yesterday over in Ann Arbor, and I didn't do as well as I would've liked. I kept getting the shit beat out of me anytime I tried using stances.

Little advice on Amy and Algol.

Amy: 1KA 2nd hit is high and easily punishable. I heard this is a spammed move? Only on low level Amy players, Good Amy's use this move infrequently, or sparingly because of it's punishable qualities. Yes it's + on block, but it's still gets punished alot on high level play

Algol: Please, please, GI the bubbles back at him if you're playing a bubble spammer. Most Algol's have 2 play styles with bubbles

1) shoots lots of bubbles, when they're on screen, he comes in to start comboing you, hoping the bubbles stop any retaliation.

2) shoots lots of bubbles....then spaces you out and keeps doing it, going for a low attack/frame trap when you come in close.

GI the bubbles back at him, it's a VERY EASY GI, a caveman can do it. Don't let Algol's get away with this shit. I don't have experience with high level Algol's but DON'T LOSE to a spamming one.

Most of the bubbles Crow used were the 4[A+B] sideways kind, and he used them to keep me from controlling the pace of the match. His setups were fucking amazing.

BTW, I'll have some vids up soon.

with reguards to the 'Seig vs Kilik' matchup|

I feel that Seigs range is only slightly shorter than Kiliks in genral so i wouldnt have thought that would be a huge problem? 6b or 22_88b should kill Kilik.

I read someone before saying that when 22_88B is blocked its very punishable so he stopped using it. This i agree with but the thing is its a sidestepping move so if you time it correctly you opponent wont have a chance to block it. Considering the even chance that it will be a counter=devistating juggles for eg 22B SSH aa is a garenteed combo that does 60 something damage so yeah i feel that against Kiliks side steppable pokes its a great asset.

Furthermore a tactic i find common with Kilik vs Seig is 6 A+B against Seig during his roulet so its likely to be a counter. I find that this will only be used at certain parts of your roulet such as SCH A -SSH, to counter this i genrally use 2_8 B+K which steps out of the way and pretty much gives you a garanteed hit. Since 6 A+B goes for so long even SCH B(hold) is garanteed if you time it right!

These are just 2 examples I know but its what ive found to be most effective in past matchups with Kilik.

hey if some of the better Sieg players would give me some matchup rankings I'd like to hear them. like to use them in the SCIV Character matchup tier project. so far only sieg matchup I have up is sieg vs nm at 5-5. you can disagree with that if you want but there are just as many good players who say nm has advantage as ones who say sieg has advantage, and I think it's pretty even myself.

I'm having troubles fighting Astaroths in general, I somehow always get too far away to punish most asta's.
And even when using safe moves, this knee kick attack thing he does, always surprises me and this usually leads to poor siggy taking a lot of damage. Anyone got any tips?? Thanks in advance.

(Just realized he posted a thread about VS and missed this thread entirely :( )

I kinda just rush in with 66K (not the sliding move) its a good stun and usually when you get in real close to Astaroth thats where if you pull off the right moves you will be save, staying away from astaroth gets me killed, 1. because i can't just how far ranged his long ranged moves are and 2. Because Astaroth is just waiting for you to get in close enough to hit with one of those long-ranged moves.

anyways

Hi, im new to the forum, and I have never been to any tournaments or w/e i'm also new to the Soul Calibur Terminology. However im not to new with Soul Calibur i've played the $hit out of every game the come out for the series (except Soul Blade and SC: Legends) and i am a great Siegfried player (debatable since i've never played anyone on here but if it does help in anyway i'm lvl 140-something on standard match on SCIV xbox live, sorry i can't remember my exact level my xbox is broken). But one character is always a tough fight no matter if you're a good player or a newcomer, anyone using Cassandra = death for me. She's too fast and her rising moves (at least i think they are rising moves) always stun me and before i have time to shake out of it i get led up into a very damaging combo. 6B i usually use to interrupt her when she's in the middle but its not enough to kill her, i usually end up dying because she's too fast I can't even use 3B - Chief Hold K aganist her. and every Cassandra i've ever played is so aggresive i don't have a chance to fight back. Usually 6B, 9A are my saving grace but its still not enough for a girl with a short sword and a small shield she sure does allot of damage. Not to mention those low grabs, oh god i hate those. can anyone tell me of some kind of strategy or something to help me aganist her? Because i have been able to get around every character that people say is a bad matchup for siegfried as in Setsuka,Raphael,Mitsurugi. but i just can't get around her!.

plz help!

Edit1:
One thing I wanted to address for discussion, but didn't wanted to make a new topic for it, was...
Siegfried VS Auto-retreating moves like; Mitsu's 4B, Kilik's 4B+K, Yun's 44B, X's 44B, etc.
I think these can be bad situation when opponents balance their pokes/throw pressures. 3K and even b6 are too short sometimes depending on your opponent's distance from you after guarding their pokes. I'm using 22B to counter most of these situations.

What do you guys do in these situations?

Welcome to the forum, I'm the master of all Sig commands (heheheh j/k). If you ever buy a PS3 Slim, my PSN is JinkOfWar.
Cassandras are easy, just stay alter on your opponent, rehearse and set your punishments move and combos against in training with record mode, then apply them in battle. Provoke them to miss, example: Side-step a lot to promote them to 'A' you, then use B+K's GI on spot, crouch to make them use Bs and other mids, etc, etc. Then use their Guard disadvantage to interrupt with 1K, 2A, 3K, 4K, or b6...

I know this is off-topic but there isn't a Siegfried General discussion thread.

What works for siegfried online and works offline?

i fought someone recently who claimed i was doing allot of lag tactics (probably just allot of lows unintentionally) and that some of my moves would not work offline such as SCH AA.

Been awhile since I posted here. I was a mere noob but now I am A MAN! At First I had trouble with Cassandra now she's not too much of a threat, while others have gained my attention, Taki in this instance.

anyways now I am having trouble with Taki Now I can trash decent Takis quite well. and once I start pitbulling first in the match its over for the other Taki, but when the other player Pitbulls me im doomed to a perfect. I've had trouble knowing when to stop blocking and looking for unblockables

Because Taki's unblockable is very hidden seeing how her unblockeable (not the bomb unblockable) puts her in her neutral stance and the flames are hidden very well. Also that weird illusion teleport thing is very confusing, people says its a 50/50 But is Taki really up there? How do I hit her? is it just as simple as 3B or? Now that weird move where Taki hits you and jumps back and does a torpedo dive at you which usually does ALLOT of damage, which is often repeatedly done by decent Taki's is now GI on reaction from me. (well 80% of the time) I even got a few JI's from that. But Good Taki's barely ever use that move unless they get a counter hit on me, because I can't block it then. Also Ninja bombs I don't think there is a way to know when this is coming other than to fight Taki's all day and become used to seeing it happen, But Jumping these would save allot of trouble.

Players such as The_Shogun and L30F1R3 are amazing Taki's The_Shogun however is not a siegfried expert and I was able to get in on many hits on him including SRSH K he didn't even attempt to block it. However despite me trashing him when I had First attack he ended up owning me hard.

L30F1R3 on the other hand is a much MUCH better Taki one of the best i've ever seen yet I was able to own him in the end however that might have something to do with the fact that we had around 30 matches in one instance. I was able to jump his ninja bombs.

plz help kthxbai
