Final Fantasy 7 is the greatest game ever it only makes sense to have the two best characters cloud and sephiroth fight it out for soul calibur.
 
They didn't confirm anything, your following up on what you want to believe. You don't "know" anything, you just want to believe it's true.

That said, I guess whatever makes the fanboys buy the game is fine with me, as long as I don't have to see that trash in tournaments.

also we have no clue who the guests are, but they are almost guaranteed to be banned anyway.

I'm the first that don't want horrible too colourfull anime shit in SC

But please,be objective

A- Not all anime/manga got that trash childish too-colourfull-for-SC style, things like Berserk,Ninja Scroll,Vagabond or Pigrim Jager are waaaaay more fitting with SC style (even with the best,SC1) than 99% of western things.
Idem for games,from KUF to Castelvania to many other, the right asian game character will fit probably better than any other guest from western games. Where dumb anime look is simply dumb on the other side western chara design tend (with exception) to be too fucking weak and anonimous for SC.
Even in his best and "more western" form, SC1, the saga's design is ever been clearly jap

B- The worst unfitting for SC things ever, that burn the eyes of people with decent tastes? Star Wars trash, easily.

So is not about western vs jap,is just about have decent taste, you can find it in both worlds

In the actual VG situation the most fitting with SC chara design actual choices are two western char: Ezio (from AC2) or Gabriel Belmont (japanese SH,but CLoS is made by spanish guys)

If end up being a FF char i hope is'nt Lighting and is'nt from FF13. FF may offer some decent fitting design for SC (Lol, Gilgamesh VS Yoshi),but are probably not enough epic famous. Actually i think/fear is going to be Lighting(X-2 version) or the ridicolous dumb kid from FF13x-2 trailers at E3
Both sad,but at least are'nt Star Wars bs
 
If the guest character is consistent across the platforms and has a unique style there's an off chance they won't be banned.
I'm still hoping for XIII-2's Lightning. Out of all the likely options, I think she fits best with the rest of the cast visually.

I'd be A-OK with no guest character... but that seems unlikely, marketing and all.

la edit: A Tsuiokuhen styled Kenshin or part of the Berserk cast would be pretty epic if Namco goes and consults mangaka again. Really going back to the games design roots. I don't consider this part of the 'likely' category though.

Although I stated that I think the Kenshin OVA series is a good example of anime fights done right, that doesn’t mean I’d like Kenshin to be a guest character in SC. For one thing, his visual design works well in context but it a bit too simple and generic for SC. Anyway I agree that it’s highly unlikely; Namco will almost certainly choose a more topical character, one whose franchise stands to benefit from the cross-publicity.

I think the hatred for guest characters is misplaced. The problem is getting a guest character that actually fits the SC universe well - Star Wars being the most jarring mistake by that measure. If you think about it, Yoshimitsu is technically a “guest” character, yet nobody questions his place in the SC roster because he is a good fit stylistically and conceptually.

Besides, in my own case, I don’t consider the SC universe to be so especially cohesive and important to the games’ effectiveness that it is ruined by such a silly inclusion as Darth Vader. I’m not drawn into or invested in a world described merely by a handful of stages and a fighting game’s paper-thin “story mode," and so something as context-breaking as a random space cyborg doesn’t directly undo the specific experience I seek from SC, namely spectacular fantasy duels. Now, if Vader suddenly made an appearance in, say, L.A. Noire (a game which I haven’t even played btw), you can bet I’d be disgusted as it would shatter the experience which is the primary purpose of that game.

Now, as I mentioned the specific experience I seek from SC (and which I think is the series’s primary purpose) are those tightly balanced duels, ideally with an historical-fantastical veneer. In that respect, Yoda is a complete eyesore because he breaks those carefully tuned mechanics and is just plain unenjoyable to fight against. Matches against him devolve into awkward pokes and slashes because you cannot properly combo off of him. It’s like playing a completely different game.

Does all this mean that I don’t understand or sympathize with people who prefer to keep the SC series free of such bizarre interlopers on purely aesthetic / conceptual grounds? Of course not. I’d vastly prefer that any guest characters already match SC’s setting. But I think it is a mistake to consider guest characters inherently bad (again, see Yoshimitsu as a counter-example).

I still don’t have a good suggestion for a guest character myself, but that’s a separate matter.
 
I don't want to see any guest characters, but if there were to be some it must be Ezio or Altair. They would fit perfectly into the story.

EDIT: Ontopic// Isn't it true that Namco bought the rights to Power Rangers?! CALM DOWN!!! I'm not saying that i wish or think that it's a possibility for them in 5 but just imagine the reveal trailer... *cough*
 
Well, that does make perfect sense. I honestly wouldn't have expected anything else unless the guest was from a Namdai game. They are using a guest character on a limited license, not purchasing the rights to the character.
