I reallllyyy hope they go with Astaroth's I/II colour scheme over the newer, brighter versions. They're all charming (some for the wrong reasons), but the original design was by far his best and most menacing incarnation IMO.

Looking at their silhouettes, Cervantes and Astaroth's outfits look really prickly. Lizzy actually seems plain in comparison. But still the Alexandras have some stuff that's arguably too girly for him.

cross eyed or nah?

If they decided to change Cassandra to a shield and spear user (which is unlikely) then I'd be ok with it as long as it doesn't change the way she plays too much.
Her shield should also be bigger than the tiny shields that S&S use in the game (why are they so small when they are meant to protect you?) especially because a lot of her moves are shield based. Like this:

Does anyone think that Rock will make it into this game? I've haven't heard much discussed from fans about him & just wondered what you guys thought?

not gonna lie. if there is ONE guest character other than Artorias i want in the game it would:

we all wanted to be a keyblade wielder i dont even want to hear it

speaking of dlc where would that character you get when you preorder be placed on the character select screen?

Here's my stance on Rock -
A waste of a slot, even if they alter his style to be more different from Astaroth's. He lacks any kind of main plot relevance, he's extremely bland as a character, and the only reason I would ever be okay with him making it in would be if the roster was like 30+, but that's not happening. There are so many other fantastic characters that deserve a better shot than him that him making it in over them would infuriate me to my very core.

Okubo mentioned early on about avoiding characters with similar styles and Astaroth is essentially confirmed so chances of Rock are pretty low I think. He's also completely irrelevant to the story so we wouldn't miss much there without him.

Also barely anyone cares about him so it's not like you'll see much disappointment at his loss, in that official poll he even came behind a bunch of the SCV kids which is an achievement he only shares with three other proper non-SCV characters; Li-Long (who, console-wise, was only a full character in the first game everyone forgets about), Dampierre (who was only in the PSP game before V), and Algol.
Technically Lizardman was only slightly above him but his votes were split between his Lizardman and Aeon names so really he's above the SCV kids when you add the votes together.

Yeah I've rewatched the Groh/Nightmare/Xianghua/Kilik reveal and to me the Nightmare music didn't sound as complete as the one I heard in the Niche Gamer Xianghua vs Ivy match. While the lovebirds' "theme" does sound similar enough to Undying Legend. So much for more stages.

But how long will we be stuck with this build?

Another thought I had is that with the upper/mid/lower breaking returning, the way accessories work if they're still in might be a bit complicated or not be if it registers the body part. But still, things like the elf ears should be considered physical features that can't be broken which you modify outside of the clothing section. Along with beards. Shame Raph had to lose that one goatee he had. And Mitsurugi (mostly) and Siegfried lost theirs in the rewind. And our token Norse is a bishie.

Rhetorical questions:

1) How can this game avoid characters with similar styles yet get everyone's favorites in?

2) How outdated are certain tropes or characters (such as Rock) that must now either be translated into more modern forms, or just scrapped because they are no good?

... damn, man.

They kept the Evo Japan build for 4 months so I wouldn't be surprised if this build is it until we're near release and they've got a full beta version to test.

Is proof what we're presenting now? How about a lack of proof to the contrary then?

Watch the story trailer. Count the number of times Zas shows up. If he was in that trailer it would be proof that he was always planned for the base roster, but he does not. No art, no name, not even participating in a random normal gameplay fight.

The series has always contained characters that play a lesser role from a story perspective. Believe it or not, there's an entire game attached, and not all of the content has to be based around the canon story.

So yeah, proof is what we're presenting and I still see none.
