Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

How did you know it was called a snake sword?

I was so terrified AF of Cervantes’s laugh and his scene in the intro where he removed his face to become Inferno. Now he has my favorite style.

And then there was Siegfried becoming Nightmare and Hwang’s bad ending. I still don’t know why the former became blue instead of red. And Taki’s stage scared me as well. To a lesser extent the coliseum music.
SAME! When I was younger I had to mute the TV when Cervantes turned into Inferno in SE xD

8 month after the reveal of the game, and i think this is easily the best explanation of the reversal edge system to date:

There's still a lot he missed out that was explained in the stream, he didn't talk about the Reversal Edge having a maximum of two phases and the fact whoever is the aggressor is the one with the offence advantage if both of you do the same move. There's also more than just A, B, K attacks, Guard Impact can be used as well as directional input for positioning.

Well, he specifically said you can go somewhere else for that, and he's right. Those kinds of things would actuallybe better broken down by looking at a graphic.

But what he kind of alluded to there is how, clearly, it's a way to teach newbs about matchups. It's a simple enough built-in tutorial that people can continually teach themselves with for every character. However if you flip over the pyramid, it presents a massive layer of mind games that goes beyond a simple RPS for high level players. Really, the more they understand the system, the more it can be used against them.

I think what he brought up about cinematics is a good point though. There should actually be negative consequences for stalemating the first time. A failed RE in general should have a more significant negative effect on your guard gauge. If they want to teach consequences they should in every phase. If you stalemate the first RE sequence both characters should suffer an impact to their guard gauge, and the positive benefits on the second sequence should always be less, or at least heavily scale a CE.

Anybody else have guesses what other CEs could be?

I have a feeling Cervantes will end up dealing with telekinetic swords.

And I have a funny feeling that since Verge may have said "one of the bosses" with Groh's father (who seems aligned with Calibur) that Cervantes is another one of the bosses and they're both going to be in the upper corners.

Hope we'll still be able to CaS with them.

They stopped being a thing after SoulCalibur III. Which is sad, because I wanted to see one for Hilde and Amy.

I doubt Katas could return... Project Soul doesn't seem to care anymore which is sad... I hope to be wrong.

In case Katas return they should do new Motion Capture for them but I bet they do not have talented people in the team to perform these kind of moves. That's why they have been reusing the same old assets since the first one.

This is the closest thing you'll see, at least for now (for Amy and Hilde):

I want Katas back... and I also want the shop back:

When I am refering to the shop I am talking about in-game cash shop. To unlock things that are supposed to be in-game.

Not shop with real money cash which seems to be the case lately in videogames. You know, those "fake-DLCs" which are in-game content that has been cut from launch.

Unfortunately it seems those days from Soul Calibur III are long gone.

I am eagerly waiting for Project Soul and Bamco prove me wrong. To make me eat my own words. But that won't happen... I've been waiting a decade.

This is the definition of video game industry nowadays:

I could see that working. His swords fly around and slice up the opponent, bringing them up in the air, and his pistol sword flies back into his hand just in time to shoot them as they fall back down.

I feel like most of them will be similar their previous critical edges/finishes, much like how Sophitia's is reminiscent of her CF. Seems to be the case thus far anyway, with a few exceptions. I really do hope Cassandra gets something better than her CF if she's in the game though.

I want him to teleport to his ship and yell "FIRE!!!"

Then he teleports back after the aftermath and says "Beautiful carnage."

I started to love Tira with SC4.
Tira is always an interesting char but that SC3 P1 costume was too much horrid for me to start playing with her.

It's so funny because Tira's SC3 P1 could've been interesting but it seemed so jumbled up together and it's like, what? That said, I absolutely loved her 2P in that game. And as bad as her P1 costume was, I like it more than her P1 in SC4, the only interesting thing about that look was her hair but everything else was just too tacky for my taste. And her 2P in 4, it looked better in the concept art lol

They stopped being a thing after SoulCalibur III. Which is sad, because I wanted to see one for Hilde and Amy.

I KNOW! It would've been so cool to see a Kata for Hilde and Amy and I'm also going to throw in Viola (*coughAmycough*) in Soul Calibur 5, I could picture her doing some kind of belly-dancing just like how Raphael did the Flamenco in his Katas back in SCII & III.

I seriously hope Project Soul reconsiders and brings them back because there's plenty of people who would love to see them again.

III 1P Tira looked cool to me but seems inconsistent with her general looks in later games. Even so it probably suits a planted based character for Mortal Kombat more.

The thing I don't like specifically about Tira's outfits is that they have always been so inconsistent and I'm never quite sure what they wanna do with her, aside from a very general theme of 1P being mismatched and/or torn up and destroyed, while her 2P is more put together and prim and proper to an extent.

Her SCIII 1P, she looked like a knock off Poison Ivy who used too much green. Hideous and outlandish; I understand her motif was supposed to be Cirque du Soleil, but looking at her now, I get the same kind of knee-jerk reaction as I originally did when I first saw Z.W.E.I.

SCIV 1P seemed like a much better step in the right direction, retaining the feathers look, but I still don't know what kind of overall motif she was supposed to go for with the funky red jumpsuit. Child's play?

SCV 1P is just a rehashed version of her SCIV 2P. Next. (Her SCV 2P is flawless, however; props to the artist for that)

There's been a lot of talk about how Tira's always associated with birds, ravens, specifically, but the bird she's closely resembled the most throughout the series has been a bright green parrot. If she does make it into the SCVI, I really wish that they can home on a more specific and less mishmashed aesthetic because her costumes always seem thematically all over the place in comparison to other iconic characters from the series.

I'm gonna sound like a contrarian with all these responses about Tira's SC3 1P outfit but I love it. She has this wild woman of the forrest look that really makes her visually striking from the rest of the cast. I hope it returns if she returns.

I rate my favorite Tira's outfits, if anyone is interested in my fashion taste, but I did not justify it.

I still try to understand what she is wearing, I would not recommend that stylist.

All these sketchs are from Project Soul.

They seem to be taking from several outfits, so I could see something like the multi-colored hair and pigtails, dark outfit wrapped around, feathers here and there, pale skin.
