Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

For some reason I kind of think he'll have a mace and a tome. But Geralt makes me find it harder to believe he'll have magic. But he's a guest so I doubt that would really matter.

Groh's father probably will have a somewhat realistic weapon with a fantasy twist, a single spear like the rhongomiant, which is a neat possibility as a single spear style would be more practical than Hilde's and still fairly different.

Considering the backlash of replacing staple characters and planting their moves onto their new counterparts, Groh's father being a spear user would no doubt steal some of Hilde's moves which will piss so many people off. A bit of a stupid move considering this is kind of a soft reboot. It would be far better if Project Soul gave him his own unique moveset. I'm all for the speculation of him being a mace user seeing as we don't have that class of fighter in the Soul Calibur series.

Not even kinda a soft reboot, this is consider a full continuity reboot ala MK9.

if there is another guest character coming as dlc.

he has my nomination.

Edit: For those unfamiliar his name is Lancer from the Fate/Stay Night series.

He would just die horribly before he could become a guest character in a Soul Calibur game (as is the "fate" with all Lancers).

Unlike MK9, though, it doesn't seem to be changing much of anything. You weren't here when we had a lot of back and forth but I have a post here that goes into detail. I'm not going to go into more, you can read the posts that came before that one if you want the full discussion, but until they actually show us a timeline paradox contradiction, this is just a retelling, a soft reboot. Okubo even questions whether or not reboot was the right word here.

If we still can put our wishes for guests, I want Clare from underrated Claymore manga.

Her Soul Charge would be either turning into Teresa, or, to add some flavour, she could use two gauges (just like Algol did): the 1st one would buff her (maybe bring her near awakening?) and the second one would turn her into Teresa. The character would suit the game o so well <3

Concerning this Groh's Father character, i brought up Cervantes a while ago and i was half joking about it because i know the leak supposedly states "new character". Then recently i thought if Edgemaster was in this game, i'd like to see a unique movelist from him using an assortment of weapons, similar to Ezio. Then i thought... "hmm maybe PS could simplify things and use Edgemaster for that role." Thing is... depending on who you talk to, new movelist means new character for some people and not to others.

By the way where does the info / confirmation about the 2nd Season pass come from, how sure is that?
I know @Hayate talked about it in his video but I don't know how sure about it is he.
I mean for Tekken it took a year to even hear about it so it's kinda weird to me that we know about it before the release of the game.

I’m lost there’s talk of second season DLC and Okubo has said there are no plans for it.
Tekken’s Harada has said season two was ONLY possible because of sales.

I’m going to assume SC Is in the same predicament.

Also, the official character poll conducted in 2015 which quoted Namco wanting the information to make a meaningful SC, sighted Tira as 10th place.
Not only that she’s supported Nightmare for three games has had HEAVY interaction with other characters and killed off one of the main characters, and has a unique weapon.

HOW is she DLC, how sway?!
Tira is base roster end of, Namco are trying to get this game to make money not win an Oscar with ‘best screen play’ (aka only SC 1 characters allowed)

No new female character
Tira DLC - with possibly no story
Rock is still gonna make base roster before better and more popular characters despite already having Astaroth.

Wow! ...I’m glad Okubo is in charge lol

I personally have a massive distaste for Rock, but I will be respectful: To Rock fans, what exactly is it that you like about him, and what is it that makes it seem like him making it in over other more popular characters would be a good idea? He seems like a genuine waste of a slot to me, he's never had an interesting personality or storyline (ie outshined by other characters who would be a better fit in the restricted base roster), he's never exactly been top of the tiers in gameplay (which I know is half-irrelevant as they can fix this), and he just is not as popular as other characters who could be sacrificed if he was to make it in. So why do you guys think it's a good idea for him to be here instead of someone else? Genuinely curious and admittedly would be quite annoyed if he was to be in the base roster instead of someone like Cassandra or Tira or Raphael, speaking for myself.

My new roster prediction:
Code:
            Rock Siegfried Zasalamel Nightmare Aeon
            Xianghua Maxi Sophitia Astaroth Ivy
            Yoshimitsu Kilik INFERNO Grøh Voldo
Hwang Mitsurugi Geralt Taki Seong Mi-na
CaS Talim Raphael Azwel Cervantes Tira Random

My guess is that the two circles at the bottom is actually where Create-a-Soul and Random Select will be. If I recall, it was stated that the current character select screen isn't an indicator to how much character will be in the game and it could be that we will see the Random Select moved to that circle. This would be the perfect spot to be toggled off when viewing some kind of Gallery Mode where Created Characters and Random Select buttons aren't necessary.

This roster would make a lot of sense since it would bring back all the characters from the original SoulCalibur and would total to 24 Core Characters + Inferno making 25. A roster of 25 is enough to fit in all original SoulCalibur characters and add in favorites with unique weapons such as Raphael and Tira. DLC is a little hard to predict but if I would guess that we would have a pre-order DLC in Cassandra. One of the DLC is likely going to be a guest and the last two DLC will be a toss-up between Yun-Seong, Setsuka, and Hilde.

As for placements, I have Inferno at the center where he will only appear in some modes like Versus Battle but not Story related modes. I have Aeon the Lizardman placed at the top right corner where he belongs, which is with his Schwarzstrom allies: Nightmare, Ivy, and Astaroth. Rock will be his rival since he was responsible for kidnapping Bangoo so Rock will be placed at the opposite end. Seong Mi-na is placed at the right side since she is seeking Soul Edge while Hwang is placed opposite of her as her rival who is searching for her. Azwel or whatever the name of the new character is being a boss would be placed at the middle spot, while SoulCalibur II veterans are placed at the bottom left. That leaves Cervantes and Tira who are servants of Soul Edge placed at the bottom right.

Um, we do know there are deviations what with Grøh being involved and all. Plus, I highly doubt we're ever going to be returning to the SCV era again.

The reason why I would like to see Rock is more for consistency and completeness since they are going back to the events of the original SoulCalibur for the Dreamcast. It's similar to how Capcom added Dee Jay and T.Hawk to Super Street Fighter IV even though they weren't really popular characters but instead because they were in Street Fighter II.

Another reason why I want to see Rock is the lack of "big man" with Astaroth being the only one. I would like to see another grappler or big man added to the game. He also uses a different weapon type which is a warhammer instead of an axe.

Lastly, if Rock is to be added, we could be seeing a completely revamped character. Rather than dwelling on his failure as a character in the past, think about the possibilities that Namco could do with him in the future. Seong Mi-na is made to be different from Kilik, so I don't see why they can't do the same for Rock. Although he is a "returning" character, my hope is to see a revamped character that feels fresh and new. It's also similar to how I would like to see Li Long in the future: revamped with a three-section staff instead of using nunchucks.

I mean yea a new grappler would be sick. But they should rather make a new one instead of trying to somehow make rock work. They've been dragging that character along for way too long already.
