Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I mean, besides his moveset being unique and him being a mainstay (never missing a game since his introduction) he's just kind of the dude who pierces Soul Edge and frees Siegfried at SCII's conclusion.

But sure. Totally unnecessary to a game that retells SC-SCII.
I wouldn't get so worked up

If you filter his posting history he's the only one who pretty much repeatedly doesn't want Raphael in (he has done this several posts)
Also, he thinks Frayhua should be working at Project Soul and thinks he's the greatest forum member.
Lastly, he's only now demanding accountability for lost data from the soulcalibur.com and guardimpact days.

You can judge the validity of his opinions and whether or not you wish to wipe it off the underside of your boot.
He's 3 for 3 in my book

Did anyone heard the special intro for Nightmare vs Ivy ? I dont even know what Nightmare is trying to say

A quick google shows that dexter and purpure both have something to do with heraldry. Though both as proper nouns is a little odd.

If I had to venture a guess, he's probably referring to her position in Schwarzstrom. Maybe Dexter Purpure is a codename. The "you ungrateful fool" is because they're fighting. So something had to happen to justify the conflict, and Nightmare is cranky that Ivy doesn't appreciate the position he's given her.

Yeah, I've noticed a certain pattern. Just can't help myself sometimes.

I don't think he's even won a tournament before or generated any hype whatsoever.

Yeah it would roughly translate to "Top right of the heraldry, purple"... Which you could do some Olympic-level mental gymnastics to assume it's a Cervantes joke based on Cerv having purple hair and that probably being where Ivy gets hers from but...

More than likely some writer is high.

Dayum! This pic's lighting and the cosplayer are so good that you can crop it and get an EPIC game cover!

Here's something: in the old art for Schwarzstrom, the four main players are presented on a heraldry shield.

latest

Ivy is on the right (left from our perspective), matching with the dexter position. As for purpure, purple was a rare color in olden times, so it's presence denoted a certain level of wealth. Ivy is a rich girl, so that association would make sense.

Guessing Astaroth will be called something like 'Sinister Gules'.

Looks like not many people noticed this Motohiro Okubo interview by SaudiGamer that happened at gamescom. I guess it's because it's in Arabic.

Anyways, there are some interesting bits and questions that he hasn't been asked before, so here's my rough translation:

Q: What can you tell us about SCVI?

A: When we started developing SCVI, we went back to the previous titles. As a team, we started discussing what's new among the other new fighters out there. In reality, the company (Bandai Namco) was hesitant in giving us the approval to create a new installment of the series. For that reason, the soulcalibur series went through a crisis. But in the end, we decided to create something very Soulcalibur-ish and that is Soulcalibur VI.

Q: What are the changes in game-play compared to SCV and SCIV?

A: What happened was that the gameplay speed has been slowed down from game to game and there's a reason for that. We wanted to make sure of the quality of the important moments in a fight. We decided that in this installement, we'll go back to the speed and smooth flow of SCII, and the weapon fighting mechanics of SCV.

Q: What do you think guest characters, like Geralt in SCVI and Ezio in SCV, can bring to SCVI?

A: In the previous titles, the guest characters were all well known characters from different franchises, and they definitely had a certain effect on the game that they were in. That is why we knew that the fans were expecting something big from SCVI. For us, it was important to choose a character who is very popular but who also fits the SC universe. That's why we went with Geralt from The Witcher. We're happy with the result of that decision and are sure that it'll be a wonderful addition to the game.

Q: Since Bandai Namco is the distributor of The Witcher 3, did that help in adding Geralt to SCVI?

A: Yes.

Q: Did Tekken 7's success help in getting the approval for creating SCVI?

A: The truth is, we started working on SCVI long before the release of Tekken 7. It didn't directly help us in getting the approval to start production. I'm actually new to Project Soul. I think that the faith project soul had in the soul series and the will to work on a new installment is what helped in getting the approval.

End of the interview.
