Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

It's perfectly reasonable to believe that this is, or isn't, basically the final build/roster.

There is plenty of circumstantial evidence supporting either one. All the people claiming anything definite and engaging in anything other than fun speculation need to cool it.

The simple fact is nobody knows, not even the people who are really, really confident and sure of themselves.
Proof that it is:

1. 4 stars, 4 DLC. PATTERNZ!

Proof that it isn't:

1. Okubo stated there would be more than 20 forever ago.
2. This was an unfinished build, a fact.
3. Those are dots we've seen before in the last one only it was two that time.
4. We've had teases for characters that aren't on the select screen (ie. Lizardman, Hwang, Inferno).
5. It would be really dumb to make slots for DLC characters that won't appear for potentially months, and make the screen completely lopsided.
6. Most likely, the spots are there to include Tira (Day 1 DLC), Lizardman, Hwang and Inferno (in the center) and possibly one more. That would round it out very well, shown below.

I don't get the "evidence" you cite. It's just jumping to conclusions.

So did we get any impressions from the aussies and characters not in the E3 build?

From my understanding, only Cervantes and Raphael were focused on by the dedicated SC players for obvious reasons. Someone managed to get Talim's moveset onto her subforum, but no actual footage exists of any of the other characters beyond what's already been shared on this forum. Likely because the booth was shut down as soon as it was cleared to be a accident.

Some people distort the facts to validate their theories.

You're leaving out the fact that it has CaS, working movelists, and achievements. It's the most complete version of the game we've seen, barring the fact that there's some dummy text. And we're very close to the release date.

I didn't post any evidence or jump to any conclusions. I didn't even say what I thought was more likely either way. You're saying I'm jumping to conclusions but several of your points start with "it would be dumb..." or "most likely...". I could pull out a bunch of those to support the other side as well, but I'm trying to stay fair here.

You're free to believe whatever you want, all I'm trying to say is that anyone pretending to know for sure either way is full of it.

"Most complete version" doesn't translate to "the complete, definitive version". And dude, we still got 46 days until launch with at least one major event in between.

I think someone in here mentioned at some point or referenced an interview that said Libra of Souls would have shops. Is it feasible that most, if not all, CaS items (that aren't DLC of course) can only be accessed through the shops in that game mode?

I think some items will be exclusive to the shop, while you'll have to level up to gain some of the other items. Though it could be a possibility that everything is available in the shop at a higher price as to offer a short cut to just leveling up.

Oh I hadn't thought about levelling up as a means of getting items, perhaps as a reward. That makes sense, though I hope we don't have to go through some insane loops just to get to the really good CaS parts. Or maybe even gating some of the cooler weapons behind high prices.

I agree completely. That way you can just grind out money and pour it all into some really crazy looking gear instead of spending hours doing tasks you wouldnt want to just to gain levels.

I suspect you unlock the Soul Calibur version of every weapon by beating Libra of Souls aligned with Soul Calibur. You get the Soul Edge version of each weapon by beating Libra of Souls aligned with Soul Edge, and you get the Master version of Each weapon by beating it balanced and aligned with neither.

Addendum: I also suspect you get a character's outfit as CaS items by finishing their story mode rather than through Libra of Souls. A new version of "Unlocking" the character.

Addendum 2: I also suspect two character's in particular need to be unlocked. One is Inferno which requires winning the main story mode and the other is Azwel by winning Libra of Souls. I'm, however, less certain about Azwel.

Likely cancelled due to the wrong build fiasco.
I already told you guys: it was faked/staged - like 99% of all past terrorist attacks using stooges/"crisis actors" (yes - Google it!). There obviously never was any real Melbourne event. It's just a video to whet our appetite with Namco-hired Australians talking over it - probably done in the UK. You guys need to wake up. The next 10 years are not going to be the same as the last 10 years.

Isn't The Master Edge Master's weapon? Kind of like The Ancient is Olcadan's. I don't think we will get The Master version of weapons without Edge Master. Then again it's probably not a lot of effort to transfer his SCV model to SCVI.

I know there's currency in Libra of Soul and that'll be how you get new gear. I also hope Namco or someone representing them will confirm that it won't have microtransactions. It worries me in this day in age when any game uses a currency system.
