I think we should avoid putting too much stock in which every weapons are placed when they weren't even too consistent about it in SCV either. This might be a side effect of the fact that weapons are purely cosmetic now instead of offering stats like they did in SCIII and before.

I know they are, but it seems like different people/gaming publications and even random players are focusing all of their allotted time into whatever they can get their hands on, aka the 15 min of Geralt's story mode from Kayane or the hugely spoilerrific Soul Chronicle leading up to the Inferno battle. We might expect more unlockables in the very near future if this keeps up.

I would like to think so, but I'm also hot holding out hope. :sc4amy1: Libra of Soul seems to unlock the same weapons in a different order.

They pretty much did follow a specific pattern in SoulCalibur V, though, didn't they? It was 1p, 2p (some people had a secondary weapon instead of a 2p, like Alpha Patroklos, but still same principle, it was the weapon used by the 2p costume), 3 alternate weapons, joke weapon, ultimate weapon, The Master.

The order used by most characters was: 1P, 2P, Generic, Generic, Generic, Ultimate Weapon, Joke, Generic Blank, Master. For example, Pyrrha had: Omega Sword/Elk Shield 1P, Omega Sword/Elk Shield 2P, Gladiatrix, Aeneas, Soul Edge, Baker's Daughter, Brave One, The Master.

However, some characters had their weapons switched around, like Patroklos's Soul Calibur and Skull's Horn, Leixia's No Name and Makhaira, Siegfried's Flamberge and Soul Calibur (Hidden), and Mitsurugi's Hide in Shadow and Damascus Sword.

This was right in SC4, but in 5 the last three were always the joke weapon, the most plain and basic weapon, and The Master. Looks like I've been ninja'd.

Oh, yeah, I guess you're right. They swapped up the third generic and ultimate in some cases, and some other oddities still. Still, there was somewhat of a pattern. I don't see why it would just be totally "wrong", for lack of a better word, here though, unless like you said, too much stock, that's always possible.
I guess my inner desire for order just won't allow me to accept it. :sc5sc:

The next to last weapon is new, I'm pretty sure? The golden one. I don't believe I've seen that one before.

Ack, @LisaK ninja'd me. But yeah, I'd much rather have seen Fire Blade and/or Orichalcum, just personally. I'm really not a fan of Gladiatrix, in particular, since it looks like a stiletto cheap knockoff of Valkyrie, so that one could have easily gotten the axe. Aeneas also looks like a Master Sword knockoff...

That's what I thought you meant, for some reason I recognise it (or maybe one very similar, perhaps from Lost Swords) I can't remember but I'm sure I've seen it haha! Maybe not?

I wish they brought Orichalcum back! It was one of my favourites. Like someone else mentioned, it would have been awesome if they brought back the huge amount of weapons they had in Lost Swords.
 
I'm fairly certain that shield at the very least has appeared in a previous Soul Calibur game, either SCIII, SCI, or even SB, though it's hard to confirm what exactly it is since there's no pictures nor footage that can easily be found at the moment.
 
I don't remember that honey-pizza shield in Soul Edge, most of the SC II weapons are the same as SCIII. Lost Swords maybe?
 
If it's anything reused, I think it's a recolor/retexture of the sword of Katzbalger and the shield of Ice Blade: But the sword looks closer than the shield.

The ninjaing continues. @Norik got it, Katzbalger from SoulCalibur IV. I guess Cassandra didn't like the shield and replaced it with her own? Weird.
 
It's so good to see SC back, remembering the SC5 days where i'm just in practice with Ivy first weeks, then Siegfried and Mitsurugi for the most part, ending realizing that some OST were super great then after stop playing keep in listening the SC5 ost. Soul Calibur IS BACK!!
