The same Jon Snow who attempted to challenge Ramsey to a 1on1 duel to leave out possible casualties.
Who also rushed ahead and challenged his charging cavalry solo and without signaling backup.
Also the same one who traveled south and meet face to face with a foreign queen usurper knowing damn well she would demand submission or face imprisonment.

....that Jon Snow is going to rely on Ghost as a primary backup for all of his duels in Soulcalibur? There is definitely something wrong with that.

SC doesn’t have the mass appeal that Tekken has had, and is continuing to gain, so I doubt someone outside a video game franchise will do much for the series.

I'm not sure. I think Tekken is popular with gamers, but Soul Calibur might be more popular with super casuals. In other words, if SC and Tekken had the same amount of success, which do you think would be more likely to see a Nintendo port?

Why are everyone so obsessed with GoT guest character? Just because of Negan in Tekken? That doesn't really make much sense.
It makes most sense to get a popular character that would attract NEW players. I get the feeling that most who want 2B are already SC fans and will buy it. They need people who aren’t already fans. Also, negan being in tekken was huge and people who like twd but not fighting games may buy it just to play him.

SC simply won't get this much money from Bamco to afford something like that.
And that's not even talking about how bland most GoT characters would look in SC universe, which is basically a high fantasy at this point, while GoT is more grounded in reality (at least in character's capabilities and fighting styles) despite whole dragons and magic stuff. At least Tekken still has a lot of "normal martial arts" characters in it, which is why Negan could work.

I dont know but if it really is Hwang and Lizardman on DLC they better have quite an ace up their sleeve for whoever this guest is. The customization options better be significantly better than the previous game. Like.... way better. Otherwise i dont see this going over too well for most people.

So... has any Soul Calibur entry NOT had bonus characters? Usually ones using existing animation sets with minor tweaks appear every game, no? Even SCV, a game that was rushed by quite a bit, had several of these. I see no reason why SC1/2 Lizardman as a more beast-like Sophitia with the signature bite attack would be excluded.

Some bad news for you if Vergeben is to be believed. Lizardman (hopefully Aeon), Hwang, and Guest Character 2 are quite likely to be the characters in the season pass. While you are right in that they lack popularity you assume that Namco actually wants this game to succeed.

I'm prepared for the worst...Bamco is such a retarded company..

Well, I can't say I'm surprised about Vergeben's leak. I've mentioned multiple times that at the rate we're seeing reveals, Hwang and Aeon has a good chance of being DLC due to not making it in time for release. Well, if we're lucky then the characters are free post-launch updates similar to what Ubisoft is doing with Assassin's Creed Odyssey with their free post-launch updates outside of their season pass DLC. Now the question is who Namco will choose to be their guest character for SoulCalibur VI season pass DLC.

Although I think it could either be Dante from Devil May Cry or 2B from NieR:Automata due to popular demand, we could be seeing someone else. Maybe it would be Sekiro from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice since Banda Namco worked with FromSoftware in creating the Dark Souls series. At this point, I think we're better off discussing the guest character than focus on the negativity behind cut content.

I think after CaSable Geralt we need to consider limiting likely guest character's to IP's likely to be open to CaSable versions of their character.

SoulCalibur V didn't have bonus characters.

Racking my head to try and determine a good character for Soul Calibur that isn't from an uninteresting television show perhaps they could finally go with a Blizzard character? I'm pretty sure that blizzard games are still quite popular and could potentially have a large enough user base and varied enough characters that perhaps one could work in the game. While I hate the dark souls series (because of the fans) a dark souls or bloodborne character would probably bring in some fans but not sure if it would be enough; same with 2B. While I think it could be quite interesting to grab a character from something like Divinity Original Sin II or something from a currently dead fighting game series (poor Darkstalkers) I don't know if they could grab enough attention. Marvel/Star Wars is a bad idea even though they are popular hmm...Honestly I'm at a loss who the guest character could be that could actually get a good amount of people to the game...better not be Game of Thrones. Honestly whoever it is hopefully it's a female guest character especially if the other DLC characters are a lizard and Hwang/Yun-Seong some variance would be nice (and female characters sell better among the casual crowd).

Didn't you have to unlock Alpha/Omega and the mimics? With the former two being based on older movesets.
I wouldn't say that's quite the same. SoulBlade's bonus character was Han-myeong, who was for all intents and purposes just Hwang with a different skin. SoulCalibur's bonus character was Inferno, who was just Edge Master but with a couple extra moves. SoulCalibur II's bonus characters were Berserker/Lizardman/Assassin, who were just stand-ins for Rock/Aeon/Hwang. SoulCalibur III's bonus characters were representing CaS styles. SoulCalibur IV's bonus characters were just proxies for Nightmare/Astaroth/Raphael/Cervantes/Seong Mi-na.

SoulCalibur V, Alpha Patroklos was Setsuka, and Pyrrha Omega was Angry Sophitia, and then the three mimics, which aren't in and of themselves "bonus", unless you're also saying Charade and Olcadan count for that, but they weren't in the bonus area. You also had to unlock Algol, but that hardly means he's a bonus character. Maybe my first paragraph cleared up the confusion, but I think you were taking a different definition? Alpha Patroklos and Pyrrha Omega might maybe apply to SoulCalibur II style guests, maybe, that's the only thing I could really see.

2B is the most requested character by pretty much all fighting game fans, not just for SC haha. But yeah, I think she would kind of go against the point of why they have in guest characters gaining new audiences. I feel like we're in for a surprise.

For GoT characters, it's too bad a lot of the cool people with more unique fighting styles died earlier. But, Arya could almost be like Shang Tsung where she has a sword style, but then can steal movesets from others. Or, the Night King could easily be an expansion of the puppet character design. People limit their creativity by perceiving characters as they are in their own media. If it's a fighting game character, sure, but otherwise, they can have some fun with the movesets.

For all the guests, Tekken, NRS, or SC, has anyone been at the height of their popularity when they were announced as a guest? I feel like most of their franchises were on the decline or had been dormant at that time.

Well, I was thinking of Alpha/Omega/Berserker/Lizardman/Assassin style "bonus characters", though maybe that is a poor term. Reused and slightly altered animation sets repurposed for a bonus slot, without the work that would normally go into a brand new character.

In this case, I was thinking Lizard could at least make it in similar to his SC1 and 2 appearances. Sophitia with some altered properties and animations, and his signature bite attack.

Illidan is i think the most obvious choice if you figure unique weapon and abilities, plus popularity. I'm not sure because i've never actually played WoW at all. My knowledge comes entirely from WC3. Otherwise Diablo would be interesting. First really big character for the series, i'm guessing similar in size to True Ogre.

See i'm not understanding what the hell people are thinking when they demand 2B. Do they expect to sprint around the stage, launch opponents into the sky for a 20+ hit combo with a shock wave shooting katana the length of Siegfried's sword and a pod for constant backup ranged damage? I mean this is the entire reason she is even likable to begin with unless its the heels and thong. None of that shit can happen in a Soulcalibur match. Or at least there is no way in hell they can give her that many options and still balance it with the rest of the cast.

I don't think that betting on anything western is a good idea.
It's more costly (getting Illidan or Diablo would be less expensive than something like GoT character, but still expensive AF, stay realistic - this is not Tekken, where Bamco are just ready to throw money at it no questions) and can cause a lot of meddling with rights.
