It does matter and DLC is optional... You don't have to buy it. Plus Cassandra is one of the more popular characters that have been left out of the base. If you want your DLC and season pass to sell you'll want to put the more popular characters in it. Fans should ask for the characters they want in the DLC as it's extra content that you pay for. So I'm going to continue to ask for Cassandra and make it known that I will buy the season pass if she's in it and hope that the devs are listening to me and the many other fans asking for her.

Well firstly, going with the characters who are most popular won’t necessarily sell the most as consumers will be looking for other features as well, such as unique fighting styles especially for cas.
I think we should all get to clamor who we want in the game, and I would love to see Hwang and Cass in Season 2, and would be okay with Cass in Season 1. But I think it’s also understandable to say you would rather have certain characters over other characters as well because there’s only a limited number of slots.
And while anyone can say DLC is optional to buy, so is the game, you don’t have to buy it, but the DLC is unarguably additional cost.

I personally don't care about Cassandra, Setsuka or Hilde and would LOVE to see Hwang.
That isnt the smart choice though. It wont sit well for the majority of fans nor would it push sales to neglect the popular characters. Therefore Namco/Bandai absolutely needs to prioritize those women first. Or at the very least do a mixture. Like for example Lizardman and Cassandra at season 1. Then Hwang and Setsuka for season 2.

I agree with that but I wouldn't put Aeon and Cassandra in the same season pass lol. It would be a Sophitia derivative followed by another Sophitia derivative.
Although I want Hwang to be in the game as soon as possible, I would have to say the safe choice would be Aeon and Setsuka at Season 1 then Hwang and Cassandra at Season 2 alongside Hilde. Or we could get Hwang and Setsuka for Season 1 then have a bigger Season 2 character additions with a release gap between Cassandra and Aeon.

With the official release of Inferno's trailer, I believe it's safe to say the main roster is now complete. Time to look forward to those Season Pass goodies! (Now if only we can see the damn select screen to see where Tira and Inferno go into.)

When are they going to reveal Season Pass though... that’s the real question. Either today or next Thursday if it’s before release. Seems like a wasted marketing opportunity for preorders to do it post release, unless of course the dlc is bad.

Nope he insisted that "Hwang and Lizardman are OBVIOUSLY CONFIRMED playable in the base game" and that we all are "jumping the gun with conclusions".

It would have been nice if we had more characters but the evidence just wasn’t there. The weapons don’t pan out because nightmare has 8. And inferno isn’t even a mimic so he just shares a weapon.

Nightmare and Xianghua seem to have 8 weapons. So 19 characters with 7 weapons and 2 characters with 8 weapons. That’s 149 total weapons.

This is the first time in the series that we’ll have characters with different numbers of weapons, through, unless you’re counting the Bonus Characters or Abyss from SoulCalibur III or the unobtainable weapons from SoulCalibur V, which not everyone had one. And why arbitrarily Nightmare and Xianghua just seems weird. I know they’re the wielders of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur, but it’s still a bit strange.

Is it possible that Lizardman and Hwang could be unlockable? Has anyone with a pre-release copy completed all the modes? If Hwang is not unlockable could he be one of the DLC characters?
What is the latest we could get news of the remaining DLC characters? Are they just going to release Tira by herself?

PLan has been some time now to release Tira by herself. The question is if she will be released with other DLC already announced.
If this Nyte fellow is right and the 4 dots really are unlockables, I would hope Hwang, Liz, and Cassandra are the remaining unlockables, just so everyone can stop asking about them and we can get to DLC with actual unique weapons/styles. :) S1: Setsuka, Hilde/Viola/new character, guest. S2: Hilde/Viola/new character, Hilde/Viola/new character, ZWEI, and Amy/guest/Yun. Don't get your hopes up though.

It'd be so hype if they started the DLC reveals with their themes. Like Cassandra's began with a new version of Unwavering Resolve, Setsuka with Ephemeral Dream etc.
The way they've revealed the base roster hasn't been very exciting with the same openings and music for everybody.
