Contrary to what we may have all assumed. Despite the fact the game was confirmed to have gone gold a while back. All of the footage we've been seing the last few weeks has been from a preview build, not the final game. Towards the end of this video the guy states that it is a preview build with limitations and restrictions and that certain changes were to be made in the final release build, confirmed to him by Bandai Namco. So despite the latest footage and leaks having the appearance appearance of the final game, there are still going to be changes in the final version.

So all of our assumptions about the amount of content In the final build could be premature with regards to the amount of stages, characters and CaS. Even the 129 weapons may not be final which opens up the entire possibility of more characters being revealed in the next 2 weeks before release. Not saying its a liklihood, but just that it's possible.

Just thought I'd throw that out there on a positive note!

Let it go, let it go.

I won't be surprised if SP DLC 1 is Tira, Hwang, Lizardman, and guest/Edge/Cassandra/Amy, especially considering the debacle that was Tekken 7 Season Pass 1.

Season Pass 2 might finally have other characters besides Tira with unique weapons.

If it's really true that Liz and Hwang were meant to be in the main game then it makes sense to profit from them being cut by making them DLC.

but I don't know. Remember the game originally had like 20 slots when they were showing the early builds...

there are things working in Hwang and Liz favor and not whether they will be in the game in any form (whether DLC or base I won't consider)

Lizardman Likelihood Positives
-Screenshot with Axe
-In Game Already as Henchman
-CaS Race
-Were around SC I/II
-Can be given a unique weapon
-"Leaked" early on to be a character

Lizardman Likelihood Negatives
-Screenshot might just be Sophitia version with Axe variant
-Maybe they are only Henchmen, and is seen as a way to placate Liz fans
-CaS Race (similar to above)
-Not as popular as many other characters
-Leak might just be stating their inclusion in the game in some form

Hwang Likelihood Positives
-Screenshot of Hwang in story art
-No korean male currently in
-Original chinese sword user, even from Soul Edge, and predates Yunseong
-Even though seen as variant of Xianghua, can also be made distinct enough, just like Kilik & Mi-na
-"Leaked" early on

Hwang Likelihood Negatives
-Less popular than Yun and other characters
-Is seen as a clone/variant of Xianghua
-No screenshot
-Leak might just be stating their inclusion in the game in some form

If tekken was that bad, is it assumed they never learn?

Yes, because if it sold well enough despite shithole user reviews, then it wont matter hehe.

No but really, it just depends on sales and strategy. If they wanna duplicate T7 then we might get a shithole first season, but at least that increases chances for a good season two. But my hope is that they do something different and put out a very solid first season of dlc that sells well, and thus are encouraged to put out a season two that is also well made.

Lizardman will be in the base game. I mean, wouldn't make sense introducing his moves only for them to be part of a single random henchmen like it was in the Killik story. Also, his pose is waaay different than Sophitia, with his right arm being way back when compared to her. If he is to be a clone of her with just some new moves, wouldn't that difference mess up some of her animations? And why go the extra mile and change his pose, again, just for a single random henchmen?
I mean, if Inferno is playable, doesn't that signal a change in design philosophy? We weren't able to play as Night Terror back in the day. I don't remember a OP boss being playable in the history of the franchise. To me that shows us that if we see it, we can play it.
I may be jumping the gun here, that is obvious: put I am pretty sure of what I'm talking about.

I think the main roster is determined by whether they get a story mode. Lizardman probably won’t get a story. So I think if he is in the base game he will be a CaS character move set.

This can all be explained via CaS. There is a lizzie race. However, I could see lizzy as an unlockable, if they want to have him available for tournaments.

I have to agree with you on this build that appears to be the final game is actual an old build from June given to Nvidea because Astaroth's stage was shown. That stage & Astral Chaos aren't in the E3 Build. This build also added all the announced characters except Tira, but she's fightable in the build's arcade mode. I was expecting Azwel to be an unlockable boss in the final game that isn't banned from Online & Tournaments like Inferno is. I watched a special video that Namco uploaded last night showed the Character Select without Azwel and his slot is like all the other empty slots. I think Azwel in the current build for jornos was just their because of the Soul Chronicle Character order & Namco told people not to play as him because he was too powerful in this build and will be adjusted in the final game.

I honestly don't think Bandai Namco finished the roster so I believe that the Season Pass will be Hwang, Aeon, and a guest character. Hopefully we see Season 2 earlier than expected so we can get Setsuka and Hilde soon.

If I recall, Abyss was playable in the console version of SoulCaibur III and was removed from being playable in Arcade Edition while Hwang, Li Long, and Amy were promoted from Bonus Characters to Standard Characters. There is also Algol if you count him as a Boss Character except he was playable online.

As for Lizardman, he used to be a clone of Sophitia and they were very similar, not exactly the same but very similar. I think it took until SoulCalibur III or SoulCalibur IV when he was given an axe to make him a lot more different. Personally, I think that the moveset we see from the generic Lizardman in the story mode is a work in progress and that Aeon is still being worked on to be released for the Season Pass. Maybe we will see a mix between his moveset from SoulCalibur IV and SoulCalibur V reworked into a newer moveset for SoulCalibur VI.

Any "base game Lizardman" we've been expecting we likely would have seen by now. The gameplay of Lizardman being shown off by Hayate a few weeks back had more in common with Sophitia as we see her now than the original Lizardman we all know and are used to by now. It's a tired argument, but the implications are there: if they had intended for Lizardman to be part of the roster, he'd drastically be different from his closest common factor (Sophitia) in spite of him using or not using a sword and shield like he did in the original SCI. Even Inferno looks drastically different in more advanced combo strings than Nightmare as shown off in his reveal trailer (and that's likely because he's an overpowered bonus character not meant to be used competitively).

Technically speaking, that wasn't really a CaS trailer so much as a Libra of Soul trailer. Yes, Libra of Soul has a strong CaS focus, but the Lizardman opponent seen can just as easily be an enemy in Libra of Soul as the other one in Hayate's video was an enemy for Kilik's story.

The possibility also exists that we won't get the second guest as part of the season pass, and the remaining season pass characters are Hwang, Lizardman, and Rock, to actually fully complete the SoulCalibur original roster. Edge Master would be an unlockable in-game for the mimic, since Inferno isn't one.

I doubt Edgemaster will show up since that one shirtless, blindfolded Mitsurugi user seen in the Lizardman video seems to be the dummy for the training videos from what I saw.

Unless, of course, it's because Edge Master isn't finished in the current build, and that Mitsurugi user is just a placeholder. Edge Master dummy in SoulCalibur V always used Mitsurugi's style, you know.

I guess if you’re feeling optimistic.

Kilik is implied to fight Edgemaster in the main story but it just fades to black. Unless it’s in his actual story chapters for some reason.

I'm watching the character poll right now and I don't believe that Setsuka has a great fandom 80% votes for her? And also Hwang/Lizardman, Cassandra and Hilde have many votes! I hope that Namco and Okubo-san are watching this thread with this poll and include them in the game! I'm so anxious and curious if these characters will be in the game!
