Okay... I should clarify the relationships part under Nightmare.

I can't quite translate the Earl of Dumas part yet, but I made a mistake on his forces. Nightmare has a number of malfested under his control AND has a private army.

Thank you very much for the translation!

So he is indeed male, has taken the body of a swordsman, and is plotting behind the scenes to get Soul Edge back to full power. Like someone mentioned, this Soul Edge is completely different-looking than the short sword Soul Edge we've been seeing since the beginning. To me, this further enforces the idea that Soul Edge might have split into male and female once again (like it did for Cervantes).

Since Soul Edge male has always been Nightmare until SC4 where it's Soul Edge complete, and here he's trying to recover its full power, I assume that the short sword is Soul Edge female and might be wielded by Sophitia, due to that trailer. In other words, I have put aside the SophiNightmare idea since we've seen Nightmare completely, but still think that Sophitia is a host, though to Soul Edge female.

To continue on REPROBEAN_CHILD's theory, this time maybe instead of splitting half-half, the small SE might be more powerful than this one, hence making the small one more important (and being the "poster SE"). This might be further argued by comparing it with Soul Edge Complete from SC4 and its "glass" blade.

Dear God he's formed his own Schwarzwind! Nightmare and Siegfried are going to clash on a whole new level now.

I'm not a fan of this new design but maybe it will grow on me. Glad he's back for real, and without any extreme image or weapon change.

Blonde hair, soft eyes, lashes.

I'm not convinced Sophiemare is dead

I feel that most of people's worries of the sophimare theory was that there would be a radical re-imagining of the characters image or style. Seeing as this has been proven false, that could be Sophitia or Rothion for all we know, but at this point it has completely moved onto to story based speculation.

It would be an awesome twist to the story if there were two hosts :)

I'm convinced you're delusional.
Ditto. I don't think those are nearly enough. It still looks very masculine. If Sophitia has that same voice as in the trailer, it doesn't stick with Nightmare at all. I prefer a sexy possessed Sophitia fitting that maniacal tone she had, another "Soul Edge being" than Nightmare, but that's me.

In any case, I'm quite interested to see his 2P outfit. I wonder if it will be a bit like SC2 where he doesn't have his helmet on, though it seems highly unlikely because his host identity still is mysterious.

Soul Edge completely doesn't exist in SC3 or SC4...but in SC2 it does.
The story of SC4 is stupid anyway so you can forget it.

Dumas is a French name, isn't it? Nightmare took Raphael's original body when he died (since Nightmare is now Raphael's height).

Nightmare and Siegfried were the same person in SoulCalibur 1 with two separate slots. Nightmare is now Patroklos.

Rothion never died, he just got tired of his wife and her dumbass kid sister leaving him to take care of the kids and is now Nightmare.

Or something.
