Xbox 1 tidbits

Id like to know people's opinion in Xbox one's family plan to share with 10 people. Seems like one of its saving graces.
It is the main saving grace for me. Normally, I'd just go where the games I want are (which ironically happens to be X1) but with the restrictions they are imposing they better have something really good to offset it.

Every game getting dedicated servers is also a big bonus for me. I'd love to play Gears of War without lag and host advantage.

One of the most intriguing announcements in the Xbox One conference is Forza Motorsport where they announce a driving agent that utilizes cloud technology in order to learn your patterns of play.

Now if Soul Calibur or any fighting game has a fighting agent that does the same as Forza did, then I guess theoretically that it will enhance the skill of new players who have no local scene.

Wonder if PS3 will do the same.

That doesn't really take a cloud. Tekken's ghost data does that. VF2 had a learning mode as did vanilla VF4.

Let's be honest, we don't know WHAT they mean by using the cloud. It could be fantastic, it could be near useless, but we don't know until we see it.

I'm personally adopting a stance of pure caution. Not even optimism right now, I just HAVE to see where they are going to use the cloud.

The cloud is another form of DRM. That's pretty much all it is. You want to play this game? Oh well, it has cloud power. Can only do that while constantly connected! Sim City ought to demonstrate just how relevant this cloud is to running a game vs the local side.

It can offload only limited data from the hardware due to the slow transfer speeds etc.

Also, it looks like family sharing wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Your family members would gain access to a timed demo (hour max) then they'd get kicked to the marketplace to buy the full game if they wanted to play more.

i couldn't care less about the DRM issue or not since in reality it doesn't affect me at all. what's holding me getting a XB1 is the price difference between XB1 & PS4.

also fuck kinect.

I think Kinect is an asset for the Xbox One. I don't know why people think it will be spying on them, since it's not saving or uploading data. It's pretty awesome it's finally in 1080p and can track up to 6 people. Assuming you'd have 6 people playing a kinect game which would be insane!

If the Kinect breaks they confirmed that it won't effect how the Xbox One console is activated.

kinect snip

i don't hate it for the "spying" (i could care less about that to be honest), i hate it because it's a gimmicky piece of hardware. its games are just a big hand-waving extravaganza that i want no part of. i "have" a kinect, but all it does atm is sit in the corner being a dust magnet.
