Yun-Seong General Discussion

2B,K blocked --> B+Kg

meh.. 2BK is a horrible stance move. you have to go into stance and the kick is high and if they are ducking it misses no matter what.

I know and still... I see the move in almost every veteran Yun vid. If you don't like the move at all, this escape pattern works with other transitions as well, it just tends to leave you further away from your opponent.

I know Yun but I'm new to fighting with him (I rarely use him online). But I feel 2BK is most effective after a 6A+B stun (like off a wall) or on a CH punishment rather than used out in the open. I know there are better options etc... but this is about 2BK...

I only chose 2B,K as an example because it leaves Yun in a position where a BT B+K hits without them moving towards you. However you can try it after every transition, even on wakeup since BT B+K hits grounded for some reason.
I've been messing around with the jump alot these days and if you don't overdo it, you can get a stuncombo or throw by surprise and it seems to be pretty safe. Did I mention the beauty of finishing somebody with BT B+K after jumping over their head? ^^

Alright, get me in the know. How to use Yun-se

wish someone would make a sound file of the noises for JF so you know when to press.

Just getting the timing without watching or listening to anything is what you want to achieve for the best results. If it helps, you could watch his legs until then, hit g right when the kicking one passes the one he stands on.

I just picked up Yun and I've been having trouble getting that extra guard break attack in A+K (hope I got the notation right). I press B repeatedly but I cant get the 3rd strike in. Any tips on how to do it?

I don't know why, but the only time I never mess up the mashing is when I count my inputs:

A+B(1), B(2), B(3), B(4), B(5)

I guess that's just a wierd habit but who knows... maybe it helps you as well.

I have a question. But just so it's known: I am fairly new to the game. Generally speaking, is there a hierarchy to the attacks in this game. I know there is a tier to the characters, but what about the moves. I'm only asking because I'm trying to understand, how i keep getting interrupted in mid-attack, but I can't seem to do the same back. Now I'm not talking about interrupting before a hit or counter hitting after, but actually canceling someone during mid-attack.

Kilik, is the best example of this: As long as Kilik has his stick out, you can't strike into him. But he can strike into Yun mid-swing and knock him down. Mitsu, Sophie, Sigfried, etc. do the same thing. Are there specific attacks that Yun does, that can strike into and cancel the other fighters attack? I think his strongest is the A+B, 6A+B, but they don't seem to be fast or strong enough, and they leave him vulnerable to be thrown.

it's range. Simply don't walk/attack into his pole

That's right. So, you understand what I'm saying.

You can't "walk/attack" into his pole.

But my question is why, if I'm attacking into him, can he stick out his pole and hit my blade or foot and cancel me? It just seems one sided.

Again, it's an issue of range. If your opponent whiffed a move, you possibly could 6B them in the face because of its range.

in general, longer range moves are SLOWER. So the kilik probably initiated his move earlier than you.

If you're asking for balance, long range moves are usually one of (or more)

1) slow
2) unsafe
3)duckable
4)easily stepped

I think he's talking about auto gi's. Yun's 6A+B has an auto gi and I think thats its. I don't think there's a few big window either for the agi.

Can it be possible that the weapons play a role? I know Yun can pick different swords. But does that matter outside of SPECIAL?

I soooo want Mitsuguri's sword. Fighting as Yun of course.

Oh. and what is the definition of "whiff"?
