For those who don't know, Gamescom is an event similar to E3 where developers showcase their new video games. The event takes place in Cologne, Germany on August 18-21. A link to their website will be available below. Please note that tickets are currently sold out if you were planning on attending.
Bandai Namco will be presenting three different titles at this year's Gamescom. PS4Germany recently tweeted out that their titles will be Tekken 7, Xenoverse 2, and a new IP. Could this IP be the game we all know and love? We'll find out as time goes on.
As we all know, the social media outlets for Soulcalibur have been the home of Namco advertisements and Namco advertisements. However, the Facebook group is looking to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Soulcalibur series by updating their page regularly with fun posts.
You will also notice that they have updated their profile picture to celebrate as well. The future is looking good for our series if they are willing to put in this much effort today. It has been about two and a half years since SOULCALIBUR: Lost Swords was released. Let's see what news they have in store for us.
Comic-Con is taking place on July 21-24 in San Diego, California. Katsuhiro Harada, Michael Murray, and @MarkMan will be at the event to mainly discuss Tekken 7. However, during their segment on Friday, they will be talking about the Soulcalibur series due to the 20th anniversary of Soul Edge. Below is the information block taken directly from this link.
It is worth noting that live streams and recordings are not allowed at the panels in general, so I am assuming that it is a private event. If anyone has a link to a Comic-Con live stream that shows off this particular block, then please provide it in the comments so that I can update the original post with it.
(FaceBook Rumor) At a licensing expo, Namco has Soulcalibur listed on one of their investors only presentations. Further, someone captured this hyper enlightening image:
In summation, Namco may be doing something with Soulcalibur. Given that box, I'd guess some Soulcalibur costume DLC for Berseria, but the info's so thin that I'd strongly caution people hearing whiffs of rumors to keep their expectations in check at this time.
E3 takes place June 14-16 in Los Angeles, California. BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment has released what types of games that they plan to announce. You can follow this link to the list. There is a "Fighting / Wrestling" title that is TBA for PS4, XBONE, and PC. Maybe it will be a Tekken 7 console version, some anime game, or a new Soulcalibur. Time will tell!
As most of you may know by now, Hoshino (@hoshino_calibur), who is the director of the Soulcalibur series as of 2013, has not been actively communicating with other users on Twitter. It is currently a Soulcalibur news station and not the voice or thoughts of the director himself. We generally see Twitter accounts for both game news and for the leading director when we take a look at other fighting games.
Why is Soulcalibur so different in comparison? Katsuhiro Harada (@Harada_TEKKEN), the director of the TEKKEN series, had this to say on Twitter yesterday in reply to a comment aimed at him.
Namco Bandai has recently released a Lost Swords tribute video with the game's accolades. This video is closer to being a slideshow than a trailer, but that isn't what we all really care about.
The 2 million downloads is fantastic, but most North Americans don't actually want to play Lost Swords and are yearning for a traditional Soulcalibur game. Now that we have gotten the boring stuff out of the way, let's talk about the juicy parts of the news!
As we all know, Project Soul recently held a poll on the official Soulcalibur Facebook page asking which characters were your favorite ones, the list consisting of all playable characters throughout the series (not including bonus characters that were playable in Soulcalibur III and IV). Well, the poll has now closed and the results have been posted on the Facebook page for everyone to see! It has been speculated that this could influence the roster for a potential Soulcalibur VI so let's hope that Project Soul can revive some of those old souls for us.
The "older" characters of the Soulcalibur roster have seemingly dominated the top spots whilst the new breeds have filled up the bottom half of the table suggesting that people are craving for the returns of those who did not make the Soulcalibur V roster such as Talim, Zasalamel and Sophitia.
Some of you may have heard over the grapevine: Namco Bandai will be holding a Worldwide Finals for Soulcalibur V on April 10 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada! Namco Bandai is Working with community Tournament Organizers from around the world to bring forth a legitimate tournament with the best players from around the world to compete for $10,000!
Anyone can attend the tournament as a spectator, but only 8 players will be able to compete. Namco Bandai has yet to announce the invitees, but they will be tournament winners from all around the world including Final Round, NorCal Regionals and MLG Winter Championships. In addition to the $10,000 pot, the event will have both MadCatz and Hori sponsoring additional unannounced prizes at the event itself.
