Namco Bandai held a special event for SOUL CALIBUR VI this passing Thursday in San Francisco, California. Fortunately for me, I was invited to attend and compete in the exhibition portion of the event. Though there was no announcements, or any sort of reveal, we did get to experience more coverage on gameplay.
As of today, Soulcalibur.com no longer exists. It instead forwards do BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America's brand website. What does this mean? Did BAMCO take the website down because they are prepping a new website in preparation for an announcement? Or did they just ghost us?
There have been rumblings during the past few months about an upcoming announcement for the series... especially with the attention BAMCO was giving the series last year during it's 20th anniversary. What's happening? Only time will tell... Discuss.
Bandai Namco has recently formed a licensing agreement with GameCo Inc to develop a SoulCalibur II gambling machine. It is claimed to be a "skill-based" game that remains similar to SoulCalibur II, but reduced to about 45-60 seconds. The game should be debuting in late 2017 according to the source links below. Here are some quotes that both Bandai Namco and GameCo Inc have to say about the game.
Bandai Namco is partnering with Orchestral Memories to perform their music live on February 4th in Paris, France. If you don't know who Orchestral Memories is, they are a live symphonic orchestra that perform video game music and are made up of about 80+ musicians.
You can expect to hear songs from Dark Souls, Tales of, TEKKEN, SoulCalibur, God Eater, Ace Combat and more. Go Shiina who is a music composer at BNES will be present at the event as well.
Today, Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a new SoulCalibur video that showcases the series. Take a look as the franchise evolves from Soul Blade to Lost Swords. As they say time and time again, "The Legend Will Never Die".
Recently, Bandai Namco has announced that they are adding a new Pachinko Slots game featuring SoulCalibur characters. This will be available to go alongside their Tekken and God Eater machines. Here is the trailer for the newest SoulCalibur game. The confirmed characters for the game are Nightmare, Sophitia, Patroklos, and Pyrrha.
Little Big Planet 3 is a puzzle-platformer video game on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. The game will be adding a BNES Costume Pack next month for purchase which will include costumes from Dark Souls 3 and SoulCalibur 5. The only confirmed sackfolk cosplays are for Voldo and Cervantes. According to the PlayStation article, you will also be able to use their weapons if you have their costumes equipped.
Today, the SoulCalibur twitter has tweeted out that we can buy some EXCLUSIVE SoulCalibur clothing and bags. Currently, all of the merchandise is available on their European store only, so foreigners will have a trickier time with payment methods (PayPal is accepted). If you want to check out the merchandise, then click the link on this tweet.
As most of you probably know by now, the "BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Fighting Games 2016" panel has recently taken place at San Diego Comic-Con. There was no stream for this event, but thanks to Twitter we have some information about what was discussed. Below you can see the tweets from a twitter user who was present at the event.
I currently have no other details from this panel, but if you were present at the event, then feel free to post in the comments and I will add it to the OP. The takeaway is that if you want a new SoulCalibur, then you should make sure to spam the SoulCalibur Facebook group to express your interest.
