Gamescom trailers are starting to get pumped out by Bandai Namco and we got two awesome reveals. Libra of Soul is a new game mode for SOULCALIBUR VI where you make your own character for an alternate story. You will be able to travel, complete missions, and meet SOULCALIBUR VI characters along the way.
In the Libra of Souls trailer, we can see that there is a new antagonist that will be in SOULCALIBUR VI. Considering the quality of his details, it is safe to say that he will be a playable character. Based on appearances alone, he will most likely be a magic staff user.
Right before the Tekken finals at EVO 2018, Okubo stepped onto the stage and presented the world premiere for Astaroth and Seong Mi-Na! Sure, the appearance of Astaroth was a forgone conclusion the moment Maxi was revealed; but Mi-Na was not. In fact, I don't believe anyone thought she would actually be in the game with Kilik already being on the board.
Probably the most unique character and move-set on the stage of history, is returning for SOULCALIBUR VI. Voldo seems to have all his usual stuff; mantis crawl. caliostro rush, landfish, a fondness for leather, and a penis sheath.
The wind priestess makes her return to SOULCALIBUR VI after being absent from SOULCALIBUR V. From the trailer it seems that she is very capable of block string pressure and has a new parry where she has the option to blast you with wind after it. She looks like a good return to form for the character. How old is she in this game by the way? SOULCALIBUR VI comes out October 19th, 2018.
During E3's open floor day today, Namco unveiled a brand new trailer for SOULCALIBUR VI. This new trailer focuses directly on the story mode for the upcoming game. As you know, being a fan, the SOULCALIBUR series has always had a rich and featured story. While the story mode for the previous game was lackluster, focusing mostly on Patroklos and Pyrrha (who are not in SOULCALIBUR VI), it appears that this new game's story mode will span the gamut of characters. Probably similar to how story modes in NRS games work. The new trailer, also soft-reveals Inferno as the resident "random select" character, a collector's edition of the game... and a release date for October 19!
During E3 interviews, Motohiro Okubo was asked whether or not SOULCALIBUR VI would come out this year. He said with absolute certainty that it would be released before the end of 2018. Okubo was also asked if there would be other guest character beyond Geralt from The Witcher. It turns out that Geralt will be the only guest character in the story mode as well as the only character on the disc. He also said we should stay tuned for the appearance of other characters down the line.
Earlier this morning, Bandai Namco finally revealed the Nunchuk Pirate. In this trailer we can see that he has been changed to manage his stances for longer durations to get Maxi-mum flair. It seems that he has kept his previous voice actor, a positive demeanor, and gained a new tan. I'm a huge fan of his CE and I can't wait to see how he is played. Only thing that has left me curious is how often he will be able to discourage GI and RE in SOULCALIBUR VI. Enjoy the video and screenshots.
