Man, Qanba USA really loves you guys! For the third month in a row now, they have been supplying us with arcade sticks and goodies to show their support for the SOULCALIBUR community.
This time, they have given us three, yes three, collector's editions for SC6 for the Xbox One. Yes, I'm sure by now, all you already have your copies of SC6 and have been playing furiously since October. However, that doesn't mean you managed to get your hands on a collector's edition, with it's beautiful Sophitia statue. Last month's contest was a test of skill (congratulations to @IvantheTerrible for his win); but this month's contest will be a test of creativity!
What do we want to see? It's simple, Show us your best create-a-soul characters. You can include them in the comments as screenshots or videos on youtube. At the end of the month, the moderation team here at 8WAYRUN will review all the entries and pick out our top 3 favorites!
Scheduled for release tomorrow on PS4, and later in the week for Xbox One and PC/Steam, the first post-release patch for SOULCALIBUR VI has been revealed. These patch notes are being taken from the Japanese Soul Archive; so bear with us for the translation:
Voldo and Tira Soul Gauge bugs have been fixed. They will no longer be able to use Soul Gauge techniques before they actually have the required amount of meter.
Adjusted the tracking of Geralt's and Tira's unblockables. Not quite sure what this one means, but it is assumed to be an adjustment to their ability to tech trap.
In addition to the above changes, there is also a fix to the rankings display for the PC/Steam version of the game. Again, we don't really know what this means.
NEC 19 will be held in King of Prussia, PA, December 14-16th. As of right now, we have representatives from Singapore, France and Mexico confirmed. As well as America's best, and possibly Canadian representatives!

Not everybody could win last month's contest! But don't be sad, Qanba USA actually sent us a third Obsidian SOULCALIBUR VI Edition, for which we will be holding another contest! However, unlike last time, where the winners were chosen at random, you're going to have to work for this one! You're going to have to pour your time and skill into this one.
In Soulcalibur VI, there is an Arcade Mode. By default, you can play this mode up to "Very Hard" difficulty. However, after beating very hard, you will unlock the final difficulty, which is known as "Legendary". Your mission is to record video of you beating Legendary mode as quickly as possible... and I warn you, this is no easy task.
Last month we ran a contest; which was essentially a character poll. Qanba USA graciously donated us a couple of their new Obsidian Joystick SOULCALIBUR VI Edition and we decided to give those arcade sticks away to a select few of you, our loyal fans! We only asked that you select your favorite character as your character header in your account preferences. Well the results have been calculated and the winners have been chosen!
Recently a glitch was discovered with Voldo that allows him to activate Soul Charge, or his Critical Edge, even if he has less than 1 bar of super. I wont go into more details on how to do the glitch, but it's pretty evident, easy to spot, and not something a Voldo player would ever do "by accident". This is a potentially game breaking bug, and we have to wait for Namco Bandai to fix it via game patches.
Speaking with other players and moderators, the general consensus seems to be to soft-ban the glitch. Voldo would not be banned, but the use of the glitch would be. If a player does the glitch in a tournament match, they will automatically lose that MATCH. This is because using a Critical Edge through this glitch may often result in the end of the current round. If such a case were to happen, it would be hard to return to the status quo. To make things easier for tournament organizers, and uniformity of enforcement, we have decided to penalize an entire match.
Today, Namco-Bandai officially announced the first DLC character for SOULCALIBUR VI. Probably the most fan requested character I've seen on Facebook, 2B from Nier: Automata will also be included with her own stage and music. If you haven't previously played Nier: Automata, I highly recommend it. It's not the game you think it is, and really tries to subvert what you expect from video games in the first place.
SOULCALIBUR VI is only a week away, and Qanba is honoring it's release, with a special edition of their ever popular Obsidian Joystick for PS4/PS3/PC! I personally believe this to be the best looking SOULCALIBUR related arcade stick I've ever seen. The stick officially releases during the week of October 22, but you can pre-order the stick right now on Newegg or directly from Qanba. We here at 8WAYRUN will be raffling off at least one of these beautiful arcade sticks.
Okay, so we've known for a while that Inferno was going to be in the game. We've even seen gameplay videos with him. But we never knew what to make of it. Was he a mimic character like he has been in older games? Or was Namco considering him his own character. Well with the release of their newest trailer, we now have it confirmed; Namco is considering Inferno to be his own character.
What we've seen so far shows us that Inferno uses a modified Nightmare moveset, with slightly different properties, and a permanent soul-charge. If your immediate reaction is "this seems kind of broke", you're not alone in that sentiment. In fact, I think Namco agrees with you as well, as he will not be playable in online ranked mode. As such, he may not be tournament legal either.
It's happening!! There will be 15 characters and 9 stages available. Most likely, there is only the ranked mode function since that's all that is described. September 28th 8AM PDT to September 30th 8PM PDT will be the times you can play the demo, but downloads start on 27th. It's unknown if you need PS+ or Xbox Live. Which characters will you play first?
