Starting Friday, August 3rd, Namco Bandai will be hosting a multitude of exhibitions. From a 192 man singles tournament via Friday, to a Teams 5v5 event. Myself and @Party Wolf will be in attendance, among other notable competitors! Make sure to tune in both Friday and Saturday!
Probably the most unique character and move-set on the stage of history, is returning for SOULCALIBUR VI. Voldo seems to have all his usual stuff; mantis crawl. caliostro rush, landfish, a fondness for leather, and a penis sheath.
The wind priestess makes her return to SOULCALIBUR VI after being absent from SOULCALIBUR V. From the trailer it seems that she is very capable of block string pressure and has a new parry where she has the option to blast you with wind after it. She looks like a good return to form for the character. How old is she in this game by the way? SOULCALIBUR VI comes out October 19th, 2018.
I am sure most of you know what E3 is, but in case you aren't aware, E3 is the the Electronic Entertainment Expo hosted in Los Angeles, California. You can see new titles that have been recently released/announced and try games that have a demo on the floor. I was given the opportunity to go to this and check out the newest version of SOULCALIBUR VI as well other things at the event. I'll have shout outs at the bottom for the people who helped me get to the event!
Before I get into the details of E3 2018, let's talk about what's new in SOULCALIBUR VI that was announced this week. As many of you have seen, SOULCALIBUR VI now has a story trailer and a release date. The game is coming out on October 19, 2018. We will also be getting a collectors edition that comes with all of the DLC, art book, soundtrack, and a Sophitia figure. SOULCALIBUR VI will be on PS4, Xbox One, and PC for players.
During E3's open floor day today, Namco unveiled a brand new trailer for SOULCALIBUR VI. This new trailer focuses directly on the story mode for the upcoming game. As you know, being a fan, the SOULCALIBUR series has always had a rich and featured story. While the story mode for the previous game was lackluster, focusing mostly on Patroklos and Pyrrha (who are not in SOULCALIBUR VI), it appears that this new game's story mode will span the gamut of characters. Probably similar to how story modes in NRS games work. The new trailer, also soft-reveals Inferno as the resident "random select" character, a collector's edition of the game... and a release date for October 19!
During E3 interviews, Motohiro Okubo was asked whether or not SOULCALIBUR VI would come out this year. He said with absolute certainty that it would be released before the end of 2018. Okubo was also asked if there would be other guest character beyond Geralt from The Witcher. It turns out that Geralt will be the only guest character in the story mode as well as the only character on the disc. He also said we should stay tuned for the appearance of other characters down the line.
Earlier this morning, Bandai Namco finally revealed the Nunchuk Pirate. In this trailer we can see that he has been changed to manage his stances for longer durations to get Maxi-mum flair. It seems that he has kept his previous voice actor, a positive demeanor, and gained a new tan. I'm a huge fan of his CE and I can't wait to see how he is played. Only thing that has left me curious is how often he will be able to discourage GI and RE in SOULCALIBUR VI. Enjoy the video and screenshots.
Our favorite member of the Manji clan, Yoshimitsu, has been revealed for SOULCALIBUR VI. Yoshimitsu returns after being part of the series since SC1. Funny enough, he seems to be the only SC1 character that did not get his SC1 costume redesigned. Yoshimitsu seems a little more interested in souls this time around. He can now remove the soul essence from his opponent's body and use it as a weapon against them. He looks the flashiest he has ever been!
Recently Crow Spaceboy, a writer for SRK, has released an article discussing his impressions of Soul Calibur 6 based on the demo build that was available at Texas Showdown from May 4-6. As someone who was present at both Final Round and Texas Showdown to play the demo, I have some grievances with his article, specifically his discussion of the mechanic Reversal Edge. While everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, I think it is dishonest and a disservice to readers to dismiss a mechanic as a "dismal failure" while clearly not understanding how the mechanic functions and how it affects the game and while stating "I did not once use this mechanic intentionally." In the interest of providing factual information about Soul Calibur VI I will discuss Reveral Edge vs Guard Impact.
The main point used for why RE is bad was that it serves the same function as Guard Impact while carrying more risk. For those of you that do not know Guard Impact serves as a tool to...
You should have noticed by now, that this website has been receiving a series of updates throughout the weekend. Besides the visual changes, the code behind the website has been rebuilt from the ground up. This has been a near 6 month long project which has finally come to fruition this weekend. With any big updates, there are not only a lot of changes, but also possibly a lot of bugs. If you discover any bugs, usability problems, or perhaps just have some feature requests, let me know.
This website is now completely ad-free! No ad-banners, no ad-links, no native ads; ever. Not even to guests. I won't be going through the majority of the changes in this post, because the majority of changes are behind the scenes and only moderators/administrators will notice them. There are however, a few front-end changes that may be of concern.
