SCV- New CHARACTER ideas

lol I thought the horned spaulder was incredibly tacky (as well as the bikini + longcoat set)

though with the case of Natsu, her design looks very plain and somewhat incomplete, probably something around her neck or a simpler/smaller shoulder pad on the opposite arm would make her look complete

That's why I said its just the color scheme and blonde hair. Then some strawberry candy bubble gum sugar blast shit was brought up.

Oh I understand now. Nah, I didn't think of her outfit as "strawberry candy bubble gum etc etc". For me, it's just her hair, the outfit is kind of alright.

Natsu doesn't act anything like Yun or Xiba. Where you get this strawberry shit idk. She talks down to people and has a very killer move set. I haven't seen her jumping all over the place all smiling and cheerful or saying she is starving. Every movement has the precision of a killer.

I't about chara design,i don't give a shit about ingame emotional acting or quotes or what
And moveset have lil part on this,Yun stab trough people with big ass sword, still looking dumb
You watch her and she lack that cold deadly aura, she just have dumb teen naruto ninja appeal.
Wich is exactly theyr design target,if they want she as a ice cold badass kunoichi they will have just keep Taki (as for Yun - Hwang),they wanted her to be that pink-blond-glitter-candy-strawberry-Bieber* thing
If you don't see it,there's not even to debate

color scheme is not something you don't count just because we got colour edit.
Colour scheme is essential part of a character design, her design is made to keep that colour scheme
Again,dark/more serius colour scheme?

Still the same
Maybe a lil less Barbie, but colours don't change the overall visual impact, she still lack that cut-your-throat feeling... wich again, is the key point of that new chara design as new approach.
Many people just don't like it and prefer the previous deadly one, just deal with it

No need to debate, you like Natsu and you find her serious?
Well,be fan of naruto i suppose help on this, what i say is "good for you" :D

*i admit the Bieber addition is to bring you mad :D

I'm not mad now nor was I then. I'm just saying if you can't stand back and evaluate her on her own design all you will see is Naruto. Natsu is here to do what Yun and Xiba did and that's to bring some diversity between the personalities of the cast. There isn't much difference if any between Taki, Hwang and Kilik's personalities. Honestly just different motivations to fight.

I'm guessing they want to move away from the doom and gloom to a lighter atmosphere of the characters while retaining the serious danger that Soul Edge and Nightmare represent in the story. Not everyone can connect with Mr serious (which is why I support Xiba in the first place).

Xiba is absolutely ok,i don't consider him marketing (LOL at ignorant people think at Dragon Ball)
His attitude perfectly fit with his concept/design and got solid ass base, take ispirations from myth/legends/folklore is a good way to create a SC char
Xiba is an example of good replacement, i like Kilik (as chara design more than Xiba) but i've no problem to see him get replaced by a char with a good concept and a solid design. Is not just younger-flashyer-moremarketable, is surely also this, but they also find a way to create a good true SC char, follow a classic design creative process

Xiba got nothing less compared to classic SC char, and the same can be said for Pat,Pyrrah,Leixia,Viola... as a whole i think they done a good work with new faces, and maybe some good more are going to arrive

As far as the comparison between Natsu and Taki.

I actually like Natsu's cocky personality, compared to Taki's more serious one, which could actually be given to someone else as well.

Design-wise, I'm only against the blonde hair, but the hairstyle itself and outfit, since Soul Calibur wanted to tone down the designs, are pretty pleasing. When Namco wanted to give Taki a skin tight bodysuit, they meant it.

This is a pic I found on deviant art, I didnt illustrate it but it looks nice and fits Setsuka.

I don't think Namco necessarily toned down the designs, they made them more flashier which is okay in my opinion (I love Viola & Zwei's designs and I'm starting to like Pat & Pyr's as well) Natsu is just kind of hard, like you said, it's the blond hair that makes me cringe and plus, her hairstyle just has a bit too much going on for my taste but really, her outfit isn't all that terrible. Please know these are just my opinions and I respect everyone elses.

It may be too late now but I would have loved a Sub villain using Setsuka's style like this rather then Alpha Patroklos... or Setsuka turning Evil?
You're right; it is too late ...and as much as I like your suggestion, Namco/Project Soul has made it clear with the roster that they want fantasy-based characters over anything close to realism. My advice is to just make a character like this in Creation; that's basically what they wanted us to do ever since the first CaS came around.

They aren't into deep fantasy where Warcraft and Dragonage are, this girl would have fit, but yes. Its much too late. I feel that PS made a lot of cop outs here. They didn't try to diversitize the roster enough, not like they used to. The thing is. I feel like they aren't moving Soul calibur (story wise) as far they they should be. I mean, MK makes absolutly no sense to me but its story is a lot better planned out generally then SC. Not to say that the past didn't have good writing or developing the events, its just they were often overlooked just being placed in Text without the slightest of narration. I barley cared about SC2's story if it even had one.

My point though is, MK has a strong contrast of individuals involved with the plot as a whole. It has Heroes, allies, newcommers, henchmen, background villains, elite bosses, henchmen, and vigilante characters.

SC only has Heroes, allies (by label, not by actual team work.) Newcommers (not providing any relevance since SC3 and Algol) and the main villain nightmare. A single motive. Tira is a henchwoman, Zas was a main villain but not an "evil" threat parallel to nightmare (or at least considered that way, they just had connnection.) and I dont even know where Cervantes fits... Lizardman is just Lizardbrained and the last true threat died with Abyss.

I think SC needs more selfish villains outside Nightmare, the series doesn't have enough background villains. (Like Villain A wants Soul edge while Villain B works with that Villain A, until he/she can betray him/her to take the sword for themself for their own motive.)
Characters seem to focus all their goals on stopping nightmare.

Think of the Android Saga of DBZ:
Main villain: Dr. Gero
Henchmen: Android 19.
Sub Villains: 17/18
Background villain: Cell (who develops into the main villain)
