Tier Discussion

Z.W.E.I. is much, much better than all of you think. he actually has a lot of undiscovered tech that i'm not quite prepared to share, although i'm thinking of having I$AAC help me make a video for him. I'm not going to say he is S tier (I also play natsu, who i also do not agree is S tier) but definitely in the top.

Oh snap! Can't wait to be proven wrong, don't disappoint me.

Zwei indeed seems really strong. He has some really viable shenigans with Ein, going as far as making certain lows unblockable if timed well etc. I imagine a good player can abuse this alot.

Nightmare to me seems super solid. Slightly above mid tier Id say. A+B is a out-of-jail freecard to my mind.

Aeons feels rushed. He lacks tools in several departments and I really cant understand how his flight has no actual options. An A and B option on flight and then maybe one more move that transitions into it would give him a mixup...sth every other fighter in the cast has. Its also bogus that MANY moves that visually are nowhere near him while hes in flight still somehow magically hit him out of the air. Ive had horizontals hit me out of it...wtf?

Xiba seems all around like a powerhouse. Dmg, speed, guardbreak + fkin evasive properties on half of his moves. Top tier.

Natsu huuuuurts. That + her invisible mixups make her seemingly OP but ive seen several chars that have moves that own pretty much everything she can do while invis. But tbh everyone talks about her bombs, but her regular CH combos do 50% easily without CE...and when do u not CH in SC5?

Algol is very good imo. His spacing is incredible...being able to do 80% of a bar to someone just cuz he spaces backwards alone is gamebreaking. And his main punisher hurts soo much compared to everyone else ive been trying. If he has meter hes #1 no doubt. His CE is ridiculous. If you loose round 3 you get 2 Bars...2 Bars on Algol is a free round basically.

aPat is #1 imo. S tier with DJ. Fastest fighter in the game, dmg output is very good, punishing top, spacing, evasive properties and rapes your guard. It just needs a really good player to do all that.

Pyrrha Idk yet. Best punisher in the game should be worth something, but I dont feel like playing defensively is an option in SC5. Still, the mere existance of her punish game takes some moves for some characters completly out of the game. Free GI is solid aswell.

Yoshi is somewhere in mid tier I guess. At first I was amazed by his teleport-mixup, but turns out its not that hard to deal with as I initially thought. Loads of gimmicks that once seen trough dont seem to be that imitating anymore. His CE is very good though, one of the best imo.

Just some random thoughts of the characters Ive played with and against for some time. Dont wanna judge chars I only occassionally meet/play.

World Games Cup -- Natsu not even in top 8, lol.

I knew people were talking too soon. In all seriousness though, I understand that a single major doesn't mean everything is written in stone. But the fact that "low tier" characters like Seig placed rather high and that other characters who are considered strong didn't place at all should at least get people thinking.

This just reinforces by earlier post about not buffing/nerfing characters yet as players are still learning the game and figuring things out. what seems strong now could be child's play in 6 months.

Let's let the game evolve more. So far things seem pretty interesting and there is nice variety which leads me to believe that a players skill is more important then who they pick. This is a good thing for the future of the game.

Apparently his 'unblockable' is actually when you have the wolf thing do a high while Z.W.E.I does a low.
Haven't touched him yet and not sure about the commands, but I know one UB he has is something like 4[A], GB(214B?). Gives EIN a guaranteed hit and leads into combo.

Found the finals here:
http://www.gnouz-corporation.com/blog/?p=2440

The 3v3 tournaments are there too if you look on the main page.
Does anyone know where i can find videos of the 3vs3 with english commentary?
I swear this yelling dude on the french commentary is annoying the crap out of me.

Btw whats upe with the 5vs5 on the ring stage? Shouldn't they be playing soul calibur right now? I can only see them play kof, which should be on stage later!?

Edit: Alright, they apparently switched the schedule so sc is now going to be played after kof.

I havent been able to actually create an unblockable string while simultaneously hitting a low and a mid at the same time. it just doesnt work, the computer will always block it on Guard all settings, even though it shouldnt be able to it seems

Rather, most of his "unblockables" involve his 214 GB. for example;

4[A] 214B lets ein hit for free, and you get a free 3B into an air combo. (you really shouldnt land this often if your opponent has a brain, but this is especially dangerous against a wall, as ZWEI can pretty much kill you with a wall splat)

B+K BE 214B gives you the BE unblockable (this is his most viable, and scariest IMO, especially at the edges of a ring. a strong mid that rings out, hits grounded in situations, that can be comboed into or out of for very good dmg)

66[A+B] 214B gives you the second hit with ein as a launcher for free (this is tricky to learn the timing, but once you get it you can always get it)

im still a bit hungover, dont remember the rest

edit: another just came to me, 66[A] BE lets you hit with his actual 44B+K unblockable if ein is blocked for 30 dmg. its a good surprise tactic occasionally

44B non charged gives a free K on block (character specific lol)

Didn't he play another character leading up to the finals? I could've sworn the caster said he used Seig as a matchup snipe rather than as his main. I haven't had time to watch the whole tourney yet, so I don't know for sure.

Regardless, I agree on the "wait and see" approach, but in the case of fairness, I don't think Seig was any top finisher's main.

Akire used Sieg for one match against Egg and lost. The only reason it was competitive was b/c Egg had a lack of Sieg knowledge and was getting hit w/ day one stuff. Even the announcers were stunned that Akire went to Sieg -- one of them said he'd played Akire's Sieg the previous day and stomped it w/o a problem. Akire would've probably won if he had stuck w/ his main, Mitsu.

Winter Brawl 6 results:

1st – LinkRKC (Ivy)
2nd – TSF|Ramon (Mitsurugi, Pyrrha)
3rd – RM|SawnikFaux (Viola, Tira)
4th – EMP|KDZ (Maxi, Siegfried)
5th – Woahhzz (α Patroklos)
5th – OmegaXCN (Natsu)
7th – Something Unique (Pyrrha, Xiba)
7th – Bibulus (Leixia)

Taken from SRK.

Natsu places 5th. Nice to see Viola and Tira up there as well. So far there is still great variety across the board, I've got no complaints.

When are the vods for Winter Brawl up? I'd at least like to check out if SawnikFaux has any new tech for either viola or tira that I haven't seen yet.
