Lost Swords

CaS sure can be both a blessing and a curse sometimes. Good side? You can switch an original character's weapon to another weapon (ex: switching Leixia's other sword to the "No name" sword instead) and maybe change their attire to something that fits his/her actual traits (and i mean THEIR ACTUAL TRAITS, let's not get creepy and make them Super Saiyans people). Bad side? Once you see a created character (from scratch) that looks like Justin Bieber, that's a wrap. That person has to go.

Thanks. Some part of my brain was offline and didn't notice the arrow.

I blame the site redesign. Curse you, bright colors!

I thought someone would have made a thread on this:
Namco: Soul Calibur players aren't as interested in playing against each other as Tekken fans, that's why Lost Swords is single player
http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/...-tekken-fans-s-why-lost-swords-single-player/

Well, that sucks.

Wich don't suprise me at all
Deserved bitchslap
Problem is, in that way you don't fix the problem, you encourage it because "eh money is money"

This from somebody that really appreciate things like chara design, atmosphere and as comical it sound is probably considered teh pro of cas mode

As for me for a SC chapter with the gameplay i like and the cast i like, i will kill the entire cas mode and story mode without think twice
Give me a perfect SC like i want and i just need Arcade, VS, VS online, Pratice.
And an option to set japanese voices, of course. But that's all one really need

"They didn't like playing against other people - when you lose it's not exactly a great feeling. So we decided to tailor something to this player base," said Hoshino.

Well shit biscuit! Losing is like the greatest high, because then you have to figure out how to win. Where is Daishi? Has anyone said lately how the game he produced sold more than dumbass TTT2. Jesus.

Uh, that's called SCV. You can buy it digitally for $15 now. You may want to try that.

Jesus Project Soul, you're really killing this franchise...

I honestly can't understand this decision, unless this single-player content is remarkably fleshed out this game and all of it's DLC have no market.
Why would somebody buy CaS parts when you can't show them to people? (Probably because they've brought a stats system back, pay-to-win...)
Why would somebody bother to learn how to play a fighting game when you can't fight anyone, and the characters vary from V? Without that there's hardly a reason to keep playing, and therefore no reason to buy anything...

Any fans the series gains from this will just end up with the mentality they expect people to have, unable to handle losing, and being disappointed that the single player isn't as extensive, and... these are not the people you want to attract, they are not the people who will put out a good word or support the community.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't get it. Online is a huge catalyst for anything aesthetic... I... ugh...

BS easy reply :D
Look, i don't deny SCV have a solid pro players scene
I just say that SC sold part of his anus to other kind of audience too, with massive emphasis on story, editor, character tailor made to blowjob teh kidz etc etc

The result is have as a whole an audience less hardcore, even if the pros are on both sides
Look, Namco's words, not mine

As for SCV i consider it a great FG and a very good SC chapter, under some point of view the best, for other stuff not
As personal tastes not my fav, probably because i'm stuck in the past and i miss characters, bigger moveset and old GI system

I'm pretty sure you are one of the people who spent the most time complaining about how bad the story mode was and that you spend most of your SC time in CAS.

I may be wrong though.

Seems like this might be the good thing that comes out of this game, alongside Project Soul getting more profit for Tekken X Street Fighter SoulCalibur VI.

Or characters being patched again (I doubt it).

But still...there are also cons.

money makes the world go round people. If you want the next bigger and better thing (a game in this case), a few things MUST happen.

#1. The previous titles must make a profit

#2. Gots ta have monies to make something else. (rather that come from profit from previous titles, other games, "filler games" such as LS/revolution).

So while having a 1 player SC game may seem like horseshit (and I almost agree), its revenue for namco. We need them to make money. No money=No SC6. bottom line.

Funny how people who like story and single-player are criticized constantly, but when someone favors the game's core mechanics and design/aesthetics over superfluous story BS... they're criticized too? WTF people!?

He's saying Calibur would be tons better if it took the Virtua Fighter way and focused strictly on the mechanics and core character's designs. To quote his post:
Give me a perfect SC and I just need Arcade, VS, VS online, Practice.
So basically SCV without all the shitty anime designs -and without so much of the resources wasted on a pointless story mode nobody liked (and then pulling out halfway through). I think we all can agree.

Virtua Fighter also caters to both audiences as well. Just not through story mode, though the lack of "story" is either ignored or criticized (criticized by Tekken fans obviously). Instead through quest mode and many customization options.

As far as "anime", the characters themselves are turning out to have anime personalities as well (Compare Pai Chan in VF4 to VF5), like many of their competition. It's just not as lazily placed in as the SCV's characters, though hopefully that develops.

SC has always catered to both audiences as well. Just now they tried to put as much as they could to cater to the casual side, but didn't have enough time to.
