I thought I may put this thread up since I was inspired by a certain forum member.

However, the main reason I've asked is because from my last experience in online battles, I commonly see random ppl using their CAS and very rare do I see an original.

I begin to ponder as of late on how Namco has portrayed their SC cast. To me they weren't so strongly represented in a way to make the player feel more connected with the character and I guess it's due to weak story telling and story construction or the lack of them.

To answer the topic question, I believe that many SC fans of this generation buy SC because of CAS; they give little or no care for the original cast.

So what are your thoughts? Do you think the majority of fans this generation only care for CAS more than they do about the original cast? Do you buy SC mainly because of CAS? Would you continue to buy SC w/o CAS?

Yes sometimes I worry about the casual fanbase.

In my player search I have some pervert always setting up a room called "Ezio vs Random CAS Girls" ... that shit creeps even me out because i'm wondering how he can even play a decent ezio with only one hand on the gamepad.

On the plus side, CAS can allow you to recreate old characters so its not a total loss unless their movelist has vanished (ala zasalamel)

I can´t talk for all people because i do not know, but as for me, i rarely use CAS, i only use Alexandra girls and i also prefer any character of the roster rather than a created one.

I will never understand this, it´s true you can recreate a character, but is not the real one, is just a mimic, a false one, for me it´s not the same in any point.

For example, i´ve seen very good recreated Taki in SCV with Natsu style, it is really cool but it´s not the real Taki, no matter how much we want.

Create and fight your own character is cool and fun, I used to love it back in SC3 when CAS have their own styles and not a copy of the others. But now, I rarely use the CAS option.

CaS King here, and in my ideal dream SC the CaS does not exist

But to be fair in my ideal dream SC many youngteenfaggys characters don't exist too and veterans are back

Sadly I think A LOT of the casual fanbase and media coverage seem to care more about CAS than the default characters themselves. The media seems to even market SC based on that exclusively when advertised as if the series was one big joke of itself. As much as I wanted CAS to deepen which SCV did amazingly, its more apparent to me now considering CAS seems to be where the series' main focus is regressively leaning toward.

I get so annoyed with people complaining about those stupid extra styles not being in the games since 3 suggesting that they think their characters are more relevant than the actual series' faces. I hate that. I always thought that the CAS-Skin system was much more practical because you ideally can master a competitve acceptable style from the defaults while recharacterizing them for your own preference. Having those extra styles are useless if they aren't permissable in offcial play. Can you really say you mastered a character if its just yours? What if the playing area doesnt have your personal style unlocked or have any cas character using it? What are you going to do then?

I love CAS for a past-time or for fun team additions in SC4 but I think it should get its own game/sub series. I use CAS regularly but hate seeing it abused online where people just use it to create stupid crap instead of actual characters fanfic players actually respectably do. I hate seeing the default characters wearing rediculous clothing and I hate seing CAS characters slopply made by SF fanboys.

I really wish CAS was seperated from the main series where Casuals can play with all the notical nonsense they want so that they wouldn't overlap and spoil the seriousness of the main installments. Then it wouldnt matter what stuff is used there.

This is why i said in the other thread that i will switch SC fanbase with SF one without blink

Is not about numbers only, as assholes they may be is the kind of solid hardcore fanbase that keep shit together and legit

Without it Namco will keep believe we are all fairweather fans, and will keep try trick to sell the ass to every non-SC audience as possible

Be it childish stepdown charadesigns, blowjob SF/2D aestetic, keep focus on barbie editors, waste time on big ass time eating storymode(and not finish it lol), get guest and so on

All are sign that the SH just don't believe in the power of SC to stay on his own legs

The fact that Tekken F2P is kind of normal fight game, where SC F2P is a single player mode (because "lose hurt feelings" according to them) is kinda self explanatory to show wich kind of audience they want for one game and for the other

F2P is supposed to be a move to encourage new peoples, they're trying to encourage fight gamers into TK, wierdos in SC
Sad imho, because if Lost Swords was given an opportunity to show SCV VS gameplay many players interessed into fight games may find a new amazing game/series

Everyone like to be the good guy and claim how awesome is SC community for welcome every wierdo can find on the internet. (In opposition of how big bad guy is SRK to be all elitism assholeness f-u wierdos)

Problem is, when a big % of the audience is wierdos, the SH start consider them as important.
Surprising eh?

May be something very very secondary, and noob
But to the big public how the online goes is important, in 2013 is what give a face to the product

If i play SFIV i've the feeling of play SFIV. That feeling never stop, never disappear, every minute in SF is SF.
If i play SCV i usually face a bunch of kidz with theyr sad level anime girl cas, dark demon cas, mortal kombat cas.

As perception is way different, it get a waaay weaker grab on the fans, there is less fidelization, loyalty to the brand and so on

Basically as long they continue blowjob random audience is hard build a solid iron fanbase
They have one, because SC is awesome since... well since it was not even called SC but SE
But they don't do big job at keep it and solidify it

They should try harder promote SC as SC, be sure to get fans approvation before try to lick non-fans banana
And do games that convert non-fans into fans instead just give them an editor to build theyr bullshit fan fiction anime girl and go mash buttons online

Just want to state for the record, I use original characters more than CaS. Probably because the lack of voice choices, and it is hard to make a character look different from one another. Then again it was like that in III and IV.

I see CaS as a way for people to get creative and makes characters based on either the style they use, or for whatever reason. It is a good idea but after a while it does get tedious. But hey, my opinion is mine.

Wich may sound nice, but work against the idea of solidify brand image and fidelization (and hurt my eyes, but is collateral damage), because basically allow them to keep do theyr own thing instead become SC fans

I use CAS way more than the SC characters nowadays but that in no way makes me a bad person, it's just my preference(Hell I'd use them exclusively if the outfits didn't break). I still fight to win. I love both the single player and multiplayer modes equally, plus I don't have some creeptastic sexual fixation on CAS or the SC veterans like a lot of other people do.

Im pretty neutral about both.I think Creation is a nice mode to have especially since the single player is severely lacking. Should it be the main focus? No. Either way, it gives people another reason to buy the game.

What would constitute solidifying the brand's image to you? I feel that SC is easily recognizable to most. To be real fans people must take it upon themselves to either look up and study SC's history and story and/or play all the games. I've done both but I still prefer to do my own thing and customize.

I just customized the original cast while keeping their voices and style. Too bad I can't do anything on Aeon except changing color

How can you compare what casuals want when the Cas aspect is complete? It is like if I asked you if you wanted a slice of pepperoni pizza or my half eaten slice of ham. Most people would pic the full size. Not really fair to decide that pepperoni is the only thing you would want

That Namco should try to build a fanbase that buy SC because is SC, and not because teh editor, because "cinamatic" story mode, because they chosen the right guest or because new flashy aestetic remind me 2D games so must be cool shit
If every time you just blowjob current trends, every time you have to do it again and again, because you get fairweather fans

If they have the balls to stay loyal to SC instead just try to understand what can currently tickle 15-25yo consumer's genitals it will be a step forward, maybe the rough way but in the long run you will have more loyal fanbase (and so more safe bet under the $$$ point of view)

Problem with SC is that still Namco don't full believe on it, and if you don't believe you don't do the bet

Reverse question, why SF don't need editor, cinematic story or guest to sell?
They don't even have a bunch of 15to25yo wannabecool characters, but they have place for ugly assfaces like Gief or Honda
It was'nt even the flashiest graphic around or something incredibly revolutionary

But still it sell because is the motherfucking SF. Enough said.
It have iron solid fanbase they buy today, they will buy tomorrow
SF5 is years into future and yet i can tell you it will sell well, and that i will buy ittoo (like i will buy next SC no matter what)

It's not the kind of loyalty you just win licking cocks around, at some point a brand that want be respected should stop go after every consumer wish, and start pretend that's the consumer turn to accept the product identity for what it is

Or your product become hostage of consumers
Let's say SC want refresh the brand image and cut off CaS from next SC, just to look more legit/less casual
Do you believe at this point it will be easy for them?
At the end being a fight game it's something so secondary and so optional, where is the problem if they want cut it?
The loyal fanbase will buy SC no matter what

Seem easy.
So why i think Namco will never allow this, even if Tekken can keep stay without it?

I have a question: Is anyone under the authority to tell other people how a game should be experienced? I mean, if someone buys something for $60, they should be able to do whatever they want with it. That's one of the reasons why there was an outcry over the Xbox One original idea of restricted used sales: it should be up to the users to decide what to do with the game. What casuals do with the game shouldn't matter to anyone; what's worrying about it going to do? You don't need to be caring about what other people are doing.

In regards to CaS, I don't even think that's anything to be concerned about. Whether or not you see a work of art or an atrocious-looking piece of shit using Mitsu's style, when you fight it, you're in the mindset that you're fighting Mitsu. It does 1A, it does Mist, it does the goddamned tracking 4B, but it's still Mitsu's style and you're going to treat it as such. Even the "extra" styles of SC3, belonged to certain characters (so they're not that original anyway). Besides, the story modes already use CAS as NPCs. Why decide to cut it off and limit the world of the game to just the main cast? That;s not imaginative at all. If you see someone making something like a humanoid horse with a large dick online, all it really does is give you a reason to kill them faster. Just mow over that shit, overkill it if you hate it. Eventually, the user will get the message. If they do, one of two things happen: they take the game seriously or they quit.

The only issue that I have with CaS are hitboxes and damage increasing. I don't want to deal with whiffs (although I don't mind if the other player does it) or if some changes make creations take certain advantages. I both hate and appreciate the height changes: I like the idea of creations having varied heights like the main cast, but anyone who thinks they should take advantage of the damage feature by making a size 1 Mitsu CaS needs to jump off the Tower of Lost Souls and die.

In his review of SCV, Angry joe suggested using certain moves the craft your own playstyle. THAT is something I'd hope Project Soul would never take into consideration. I can handle bad creations, but don't let players create broken styles that are impossible to practice against.

DOA has 10+ outfits for each character, Tekken has customization, SoulCalibur has character creation. Why get rid of a special feature over something trivial?

...and btw, the series has been influenced by anime since the first game. While I don't appreciate the anime-ish decisions made in SCV, it shouldn't come off as a surprise. The developers are Japanese, afterall.

Without doubt
My post have nothing to do with the single consumer and all about the SH
