Soul Calibur 6 CaS Discussion

Someone that can be cool, is that you can also put a lore/age some details about the character you create, and share with everyone, so people can see you character, and also his background/lore and cie.
I think Hayate was talking about something similar, where you'd be able to write a bio and select a stage for your CaS, and share them online.
 
This is less about CaS mode, and more aout the characters themselves, but I really hope that the battle intros and outros have the same camera angles as the main cast? The single camera angles that CaS characters got really boring, especially when fighting against main roster characters.

Also, while I know it's not likely, something like 15 different CaS voices for each gender would be nice. Even if one voice actors does two or three voices, or some of the main VA cast do some of the voices. Eight voices just didn't feel like enough to me. Especially when they were so lacking in personality. Even the SC4 voices were more interesting.
 
It seemed to me like the SCIV custom voices had multiple personalities. You have a cute little girl being all sweet and the next moment? She's threatens to kill you like it's a game.
If you're referring to the voice that Scheherazade had then I'm not sure where you're getting cute and sweet from lol.
Sure, she sounded young, but pretty much all of her dialogue was aggressive.
 
I've been playing SCIII for the first time this week and I'm shocked by how well the CAS is done in that game, and it really put into perspective how much of a downgrade SCIV was in that aspect (and even SCV in some degrees). Even ignoring the unique custom fighting styles.

Not only is there both a larger and more varied selection of items than SCIV and SCV combined, everything is so well categorized. Even potential limitations like only having 4 voice types is offset by your CAS's dialog changing depending on you're character's class and alignment (which technically means you get 16 voices per CAS).

For the CAS system to go forward, I think a hard look needs to given to SCIII. Obviously, things like your CAS's personality changing depending on their outfit isn't needed, but I think having multiple personality variants of the same voice would be nice. I also think that SCIII has the best outfit categorization, with things like underwear being separated into tops and bottoms, and the same with eyewear and masks, as well as a "shin" category being separate from socks and shoes.

As for more general things I want, I made a bulletpoint list.
  • Remove the red/orange color spectrum lock on undergarments. (which SCIII does).
  • Remove conflict/clipping warnings. (If it clips, so be it. Give me the option to see how it looks).
  • Asymmetrical toggle and color options for all armwear and legwear, including shoes.
  • Remove sticker limit.
  • The option to choose which dialog plays for which win animations (or in-game barks if you're feeling generous).
  • Make all items intersex.
  • Facial hair being its own category (like the face paint).
  • Greatly expand body sliders settings (especially on female models, please).
  • The option to toggle open/closed weapon stances. (Raphael's rapier style with the right hand, for example).
I have an even greater list of amendments for hyper-specific things regarding the bulletpoints, but I've talked enough already.
 
I also think there should be a physique slider. Like, a slider that determines if you're thin, fat, buff, etc, and then things like SC5's body sliders would just be for some finer details for further body customization. I've seen a lot of MMOs utilize this kind of system.
 
My old post from long dead thread about customisation:
First of all: Customisation/creation must not affect character stats and gameplay(balance is first priority).
A) We should be able to create non-human characters (at least lizards and skeletons)
B) All items from SC3, 4, 5, BrokenDestiny and LostSwords and all normal characters' items+ something new.(of course at least 1/3 or even 1/2 of this will be DLC, i have no illusions about this)

C) There should be only two sizes available: recommended and mimic size. (balance purposes)

D) Take all the faces from SC3-5 and divide them on parts giving us the opportunity to choose the eyes, nose, cheekbones and lips separately

E) Facial hair as a separate option (moustache and beard are selected separately)

F) Ability to select mood on our character’s face

G) More voices moods, but their lines should be selected apart of their temper (more lines also). Also some silent option and some nonhuman incomprehensible noises (eg: inferno, lizard).

H) We should be able to select separately front hair(can be divided into left/right), back hair and whiskers(can be divided into left/right)

I) Hairstyles should be adjustable: hair length(greatly for most of the hairstyles, slightly for some of them, and very few could not have adjustment for lenght) and for some of them position (eg: ponytail into sidetail or lowtail or anything else, same for twintails, braid, etc) ie flip them as you want

J) Also ability to use two hairstyles at same time eg: bobcut+ponytail, longhair+twintails, twinbuns+frenchbraid etc. Of course you still can use anything on its own.

K) Length of back hairstyles(1 and 2), front hair and whiskers are adjusted separately

L) Solve clipping problem

M)Fix the floaty issues and compatibility problems (there should be a little % of incompatible things)

N) armor customisation consists of: head, ears, hair accessories(hairpins and such), additional hair accessories (for tails, braids and such), mask(upper), mask(lower), mask(full), underwear(up), underwear(down), underwear(full)(including body hair, full scarred body etc), mid torso, upper torso, arms(two layers for that: armor and tissue gloves), shoulder, neckwear, waist, lower leg, upper leg, shin, socks, foot, special equipment(slot 1, 2, 3).

O) Ability to “unpair”: use different arm equipment for left and right arm (or pair something that is supposed to be on one arm(eg: gladiator’s manic)), same for shoulders and some special equipment. Also for paired special equipment make actual horizontal slider and separation slider.

P) Give us ability to make one arm and/or leg mechanical(like Yoshi’s right arm in creation mode) or demonically deformed (like Nightmare’s arm)

Q) Also add some belts to special equipment category.

R) Give to us ability to see our character in after-armor-break state

S) Give to us ability to select 3 (in addition to unbreakable-by-default) things unbreakable (cannot be special equipment) or make everything breakable (except underwear and socks that are unbreakable by default)

T) Weapon customization: take all the weapons from each game (including ones from SC3 that were for created/special characters only) and divide on parts to select each part separately for us to create our own weapon(for SC3 special weapons Barbarian’s (claymore discipline) weapons parts usable for both Siegfried and Nightmare, Kamikirimusi's weapons for Nightmare, Knight’s lances for Hilde, etc). Example of creation on sword users (Sieg,Night,Mitsu,Pat,etc): head, the hilt, Garda, blade, tip, special equipment (unadjustable, just a charm, pendant and such), ornament (two slots, some sort of patterns, but for weapons). Also pair weapons should be customized separately (eg: Serv’s swords, Aeon’s axes, sword and shield of Pyrrha, Pat, Sophitia), shield( if represented style have one) also should customizable as much as swords. Z.W.E.I.’s sword also should be customizable and E.I.N. too (just give some equipment to select for this spirit-wolf). And also add some sort of aura option for weapons (not necessary).

U) Also only Soulcalibur and Souledge must be selectable only as full weapons (but still there can be added aura to them) and can’t be recolored (but you still can change weapon’s trial).

V) More weapon trials like smoke, ice, coins, leafs, rainbow, electricity, darkness, light, neon, Double-Trial (Yin-Yang) etc

W)Also why weapon trial can’t be colored black or grey?

X) Pallets for hair

Y) Heterochromia option for eyes

Z) Glowing eyes option (also ability to make only one eye glow)

AA) 8+ slots for stickers in total (without any separation on “big ones” and “normal”)

BB) Also adjustment meters should have number values for stickers. And we should be able to correct sticker’s length and width instead of just “size”. Also we should be able to use them on legs, full head (for bald and mummy characters) and on lower parts of clothes.

CC) Separate category – damage. Also 8+ slots. It is consists of body-scars and clothing damage. (same rules of placing as stickers)

DD) 25 symbols for character’s name

EE) Snapshot: Foreground and background should be adjustable. Frame as a separate category from foreground and background. We should be able to select different stage for snapshot. Lighting also should be a separate category. And wind option: select how strong it is and were relatively to the character it blows.
FF) Also custom chars also can have two costumes.
 
Just going to come up with 7 things. Some of these might definitely be wishful thinking:

1: Taunts and personal flair (Sophitia's dainty twirling would look derpy on dudes) switched up by gender and allow you to choose as you wish in case you want a dude to do that girly stuff or have some tough chick who wouldn't be caught dead doing that sort of stuff.
2: Separate underwear for upper and lower body. Want to wear a fancy bra? Too bad you have to wear short shorts with that. Real panties were DLC (but so was a good-looking ponytail for the ladies)
3: Separate facial features at least if you're not going to allow for complete customization.
4: Separate bangs from the rest of the hair. Maybe choose a different color for it too.
5: Wider variety of weapons (ie Kilik getting some naginatas if Mi-Na is absent or maces for Astaroth)
6: Maybe choose an elemental affinity for Critical Edges (using fire instead of ice for Siegfried)
7: Have a priority system of sorts for equipment destruction or at least determine keep give shirts and pants damaged models and whatnot.
 
Heterochromia would be a nice addition tbh. I was kinda surprised (and disappointed) that changing the sclerae color was added before that.
Also, I'd really like some afro-textured hair to be added aside from just that giant afro and cornrows(which honestly just looked kinda strange in the game). Dreadlocks, smaller afros, curls, etc. I was always kinda bothered that I couldn't make a black character with hair that a black person in the 16th/17th century would realistically have.
 
I've read the topic quite fast so I'm sure I'm gonna say everything that has already been said but:

1. In-depth face/body creation: I want to model my character's face as much as I can (à la Black Desert Online being the best option, Dynasty/Samurai Warriors' mix-and-match would be acceptable), without being forced to choose between a teen face and an old ugly guy's face, more options for the body (e.g. a real fat person, not some wider muscular guy), facial hair editor and so on.

2. In-depth customization: heterochromia, good voice options (not the nuisance SCV voice choices were) with a bit more line, asymmetry in clothing, non-human elements, malfested elements (arm, eyes, aura). Something that would make your character very unique.

3. Gender adapted: Edgemaster using Leixia's CE was ridiculous, maybe some adapted anymations? That would be a lot of work but I still can hope so ^^

4. Good variety: I don't want to create a modern-day policeman, an astronaut or a firefighter, I want clothing from previous games, or some with "personality" in them, that suit the era rather than being a fan service (for f's sake, no hentai stuff!).

5. Outfit destruction: I don't want a naked fighter if the outfit is destroyed, I want to keep some part of it. Why not make it like WWE games, where you can choose an entrance, a ring, and a backstage outfit? That would allow variation (e.g. you choose pants A, you have two option: either it disappears and is replaced by, let's say, Mitsurugi's loincloth, or you get a shorter version of the pants; or as it happens with Sophie's hair).

The rest is, basically, what you all have said (kudos to @SomeRandomHuman, whose list is complete, interesting, and encompassing every CaS fan could wish for).
 
Just more diversity over all. More faces, different kinda facial features, etc..
The ability to create creatures beside humans would be nice too. Although i imagine creating lizards would hurt Aeon's uniqueness factor. Maybe robots, aliens, etc..

Also, more than 50 slots plz.
 
I don't have any interest in CAS with the way they're implemented in all SC series thus far and I have low expectations for this feature.

The idea I give, I doubt will happen in this upcoming iteration of Soul Calibur, but for me to consider giving CAS at least a shot, I would like Namco to implement a branch-out system where each branch, your character gains a move set or so after experiencing some battles. The move set can be completely new or an upgrade to an existing move set.

There was something similar in Bloody Roar 4: you could get a new special attack, but also replace some of a character's moves with another's. Though that would be much more limited in SC ^^

If I understand correctly, the special attack you've acquired replaces your previous special attack.

Not sure this exists as a video... This is the only thing I've found that is quite complete

Actually each character had two special attacks if I remember correctly (214214+B and 236236+B) and you could unlock a third (41236+B) for each of them. And you could replace attacks with other character's attacks: for example, one character could "summon" lightning around her (let's say 236+A), you could choose your main and replace their 236+A with the lightning. Though it wouldn't really work with SC as each weapon is handled differently, I think that giving an alternate CE could be awesome ^^
