"Please look forward to collaborations with other works!" - Guest Character Speculation Thread

@Vergeben I remember you saying that one of your sources was a former employee of Namco, but how low ago did thier employment end? I mean, thier information is obviously credible, but they can only know so much.

I think you're 100% a liar and the idea that you personally made them add Zas back to the game is insultingly absurd.

Vergeben doesn't trust the "ex Namco employee" as his latest source. His main source was right about originals who were replaced in SCV returning in SCVI, Zas being in the base roster, & the game even being announced at TGA 2017.

But when it comes to unique characters, expecting a roster in the 30s at launch is setting yourself up for disappointment.
Not really... Soulcalibur III launched with 42 characters in total (that includes the Bonus Characters) with each character having a unique moveset (okay, minus Ocladan). So, expecting a roster so high wouldn't be unreasonable.

However, due to how developers are nowadays, withholding characters for DLC and stuff, then it is unlikely. Still... It doesn't mean that people can't expect a roster so high when they have done it before.

Speaking of Olcadan, do the mimics typically get a specific reveal beforehand or are they something that you don't see until they just kind of show up the final pre-release demos? I don't remember how SCIV did it and SCV had multiple mimics so its situation was unique. I suppose there's a chance of not getting one (and I doubt anybody would care much if we didn't) but its a series tradition.

The problem in this case is not the person disliking, is the person not knowing the character. "I'm an anime fan" is an awful excuse, how far under a rock a person must live to not know The Witcher?
Who cares?

That being said while I think he fits better than what other guests people throw around like 2B and stuff, he’s still really boring to me in terms of trying to get hype for a guest.

39 characters? Doubt it.
I don't think there's much risk of Astaroth not making it. Sure he's not a top fan favourite or anything but he's a lot more popular than Rock at least, and he's actually somewhat plot relevant unlike Rock who's always just kind of around.
Agreed 100%.

Only reason I don't believe the 39 characters thing is because Geralt is the easiest guest prediction ever.
Quoted for emphasis.

It’s probably a good thing if more people on 8way are not excited by Geralt - fanservice isn’t usually the point of a guest.

Geralt is a pretty popular contemporary character, so this would mean Soul Calibur will have more new eyes on the series, IF he is the guest.

I won’t lie, I loved SC2 as a kid, but skipped SC3 - Darth Vader being a guest in SC4 is what made me buy it.

(And Oof’s Vader is what made me get interested in gitting gud)

I'm personally not a fan of Geralt tbh, but i think he will bring a lot of hype, and i'd rather have him in the game instead of some anime character of other not fitting non sens character like 2B or something (An Android in Soul Calibur it's like Aquaman in James Bond if you see what i mean)

Actually all trailer of SC6 , means the first reveal trailer with Sophie and Mitsu, the trailer for Groh, X, Kilik, and Night, and finally Ivy and Zasa were all revealed in Thursday.

So maybe the (Geralt?) trailer will be tomorrow? That'd Sooner that i expected!! If Geralt will be the next reveal i wonder if they reveal only him or other characters were reveal alongside him, don't remember about Ezio in SCV if he was revealed alone or with other SC characters.

Ezio was revealed alongside nightmare I think, plus characters are not getting revealed on just any Thursday but the last Thursday of every month (at least from Groh to zasalamel) so far.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale 2. Kappa
I was gonna comment on him not being a PS mascot, but that would only make him fit better in PSASBR lol.
You two do know of this tweet, right?

I cannot think of a single other game where Geralt would fit, unless the game wasn't announced yet.
They're saying Geralt was an easy prediction (which he totally is) and him being in or not is way too easy a guess to confirm or deny any leaks that include him.
Zas being in the base roster, & the game even being announced at TGA 2017
Neither of those were leaked. Vergeben said Zas was a DLC character and we'd see a reveal at PSX.

My quick two cents: Geralt potentially being in SC6 is much more than mere speculation. In the main SC6 news thread we've had discussions about leaks with a high chance to be fake with no validation so far (ie, Zoro and a roster of 39 characters). The Geralt tweet is an official tweet by the Witcher developer strongly hinting we'll see him in another franchise this year. There aren't many franchises known for doing crossovers which are getting a release this year.

To you, perhaps. I've been a big fan of Geralt since The Witcher 1. He's easily one of the best-written protagonists gaming has seen in a very long time. In fact, he was my orignal guess for a guest character for SC6. So if that ends up being true, I'll be stoked.

Hell, I was pulling for him in Soul Calibur 5, but I knew the console fanbase wasn't there yet to justify it.

Yes, to me. That’s literally why I wrote “to me”.

The person who claims to be a former Bandai Namco employee is different from my main source. I honestly don't trust them much since they dropped the info on me like an anonymous tip and never contacted me since. But since I currently haven't heard anything to outright confirm or deny what they said to me, we'll either see how or if anything at all they said comes to fruition or I hear something that squashes it entirely that debunks it.

My main source that's been spot on has various connections regarding the game and its aspects, and I'll leave it at that.
Things happened recently where people were at risk of getting in trouble so I might wind up only sharing what I can here and there. It just depends. Things weren't properly cleared and ran by before I was okayed to reveal certain aspects that could possibly connect to certain people. The last thing I want is people getting fired for sharing information to help quell some of the fanbase's worries about some characters and sustain them during dry spells or holdover periods of reveals.
I probably shouldn't even be saying that, but if you wonder why or if I get a bit more vague, you'll know why now.
