Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I'm so glad we got a new reveal!

Welcome back Jīkufurīto Shutaufen!

A couple of things:

His artwork looks really nice:

His costume is kinda underwhelming in-game, it just seems a bit much IMO.

Not sure what that purple-ish blue aura is.

His hair is definitely the worst part about his entire model:

Just looks bad.

On a positive note, his fighting style looks really neat. I never used him much in any game ( i think the most i ever used him was in Soul Blade, just cause i had to fill up my team of 5 in Team Battle Mode with someone other than Taki and Voldo lol), but the stuff he showcased in the trailer was pretty sick.

I also like his CE, don't get why a lot of people complain about that:

Maybe the final blow was a bit underwhelming, but overall it looks pretty sick.

I'm surprised it's just 1 character, but grateful nonetheless. Although, i was really expecting (and hoping for) Taki.

So far, I'm not impressed with the redesigns. They designed these iterations with a lot of unnecessary additions. For example, Ivy has that weird "X" on her belly and there's this dumb thing sticking out of her bra-line, when it just detracts from her sexiness. Another would be Groh and his dumb hair. Whose idea was it to give him grey hair with a blue fringe? I mean really? His color scheme is fine, but that looks weird. Zasalamel is a welcome return, but why did they have to add those stupid massive shoulder plates to his design? Now, add Siegfried to my list, because the armor on his elbows makes it look like if he moved his arms, the armor would wobble around. I mean I know this game is fantasy-driven, but I wish they had some logical design choices in these armors, like not just having bits of armor floating above the skin or having shoulder-armor being attached to nothing and having no frame.

Also, They literally just copy and pasted Sieg's hair from Soul Calibur 4 and planted it onto his new look. How lazy is that? They did the same with Sophitia and her hair.

I'm kinda annoyed they only revealed Siegfried. I was hoping for another three and my long-awaited Taki.

Only six? We've only seen six, but given the character themes we have heard we know of at least an additional three. So far we've got:
  • Eurydice Shrine (Sophitia's stage)
  • Cave stage
  • Valentine Estate (Ivy's stage, revealed in her trailer)
  • Kaer Morhen (Geralt's stage, revealed in his trailer)
  • Proving Grounds (Kilik's stage, revealed today)
  • Indian Port (Maxi's stage, revealed today)
  • Unknown stage with Mitsu's SC1 theme (which played in the initial reveal trailer)
  • Unknown stage with Groh's theme (which played in the second character reveal trailer)
  • Unknown stage with Nightmare's theme (which played in the second character reveal trailer)

Hi mate - was it confirmed to be the Valentine Mansion officially?

Raphael and Amy at the same time, please. I like both of them, and while I prefer Amy by far, Raphael's a necessary familiar face and style. But, that may be asking for too much. Idk anymore with the roster as it is, and spanning multiple games. Just wanna fill out the rest of my preferred characters to use on the side.
Though her style is better, I'd rather sacrifice Amy (aka turn her into Viola) and still have Raphael since available places in the game seem to have quite an expensive price. The best solution (imho) is: Raphael and Violamy as part of the launch roster and Amy as a DLC... or the the other way around, as long as I get Raph xD

About Sieg's CE... it looks better than Zasalamel's, which is really underwhelming according to me. Sieg's is fine, not too flashy or too powerful: it gives the right feeling of Siegfried being either weakened after awakening from SE's grasp, or him being "not strong enough" before being possessed. His CE just feels right :)

They could be absolute madmen and have Amy be main roster and save Raphael for DLC, if they really want to make us go "ah!" as promised. Really doubting Viola returns unless she's DLC with Z.W.E.I. too.

And I still don't think we've seen Zasalamel's Critical Edge, that his trailer was full of lies and misdirection, that he has an Abyss form where he truly unleashes his power, like Kilik.

They'd better not! Stop giving them horrible ideas! è_é

I wouldn't be opposed to this. While it did have its issues, I personally loved Viola's style, from either side of it[if the one using her was good with her]. Some mix between Amy's and Viola's as some people have suggested would be interesting and unique, while it could take away some issues people had against Viola if they did it right. And yes, I have considered what that would be like. No, I don't think she was a bad idea. Raphael in the base for sure, and Amy/Violamy interchangeably in base with the other as DLC. Just hope in this rewritten story they have some more story significance, or story in general to every character.

The armor seems a bit too clunky in comparison to his previous designs. Plus, the bare arms make it a bit....imbalanced? For lack of a better word? Like, bare arms implies light armor, which he's definitely not wearing.
And I'm almost positive his new VA is Kirk Thornton.
It's Kirk Thornton.

I agree about his design though. The scarf looks kind of off too. They should've just gone with a cape if they wanted to accessorize something like that, instead of insisting on referencing his P2 alt having a scarf.
