Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Couple of quick notes:
That leaked release date (September 27th) is bogus from what I was told.
There's a new build.
It includes Siegfried, but still doesn't have Geralt.
Siegfried's absolutely retarded in his current state. Very specifically 66B up close being pretty plus is completely braindead.

Hey @Vergeben do you know when they actually reveal the current release date? And how many character reveals will we have this month? (for May) Thank you!

At what event will they present this new build if Geralt won’t be in it until E3? Would be weird.
With how many eyes will be on E3 and how Geralt is openly advertised as a selling point being on the display picture that's also the boxart for the game, they'd be incredibly foolish and overshot his reveal if they don't have Geralt ready to try out by E3.

If I knew for sure right now, I'd just tell you. lol

I'm curious to see if his sign usage is just combo-enders + unblockables or they involve a separate stamina bar (kinda like Force moves for the SW characters)

I somehow missed seeing this reply earlier, but Zasalamel and Ivy are in the build too. Geralt's the only character out of the roster announced up to this point that wasn't in the build for some reason. It's reasonable to speculate that he's still just too early along in his development, or they're intentionally not going to put him in a playable build until E3.
Fantastic news, thanks. I would have thought it incredibly strange to have a build with just the current six and then add Siegfried while not also adding Zasalamel and Ivy. Though considering the next opportunity to have a playable build is probably going to be E3, maybe they'll work Geralt into it too, seems like what they really should do. That being said, what they have done and what they should do haven't exactly been one in the same so far.

Oh thanks for the reply :) are you sure of it? It was the case for e3 last year? Games having their reveal trailer before the actual e3 show?
Yeah, only press conference that happens during E3 is Nintendo's, and they've mostly de-emphasized E3 in favor of running their own events.

EA is on the 9th
Bethesda and Microsoft are on the 10th
Ubisoft, and most likely Sony are on the 11th

It's increasingly common for game trailers being dropped before E3. Soulcalibur V dropped their E3 trailer the week before E3. Witcher 3 released their trailer the week before, and that gave them time to concentrate on a hands on demonstration at Microsoft's press conference. Cause now stage demos are often more valued in these conferences than trailers are. And this is still all before E3 proper starts.

If you're not a big first party or exclusive reveal for these companies it's easier just to put out a trailer on your own time to avoid getting crushed by the bigger reveals coming at the press conferences.

Now if the biggest news is features, then those are things we might not get information on until E3 itself cause that might rely on press demonstrations rather than trailers.

Can't wait for the new build to be playable... I seriously need to see Ivy's moves to make sure she is awesome and not dumb and boring like in SCV

66B? Cant you just step it to Sieggys left? With VI's step you could probably go both directions if you were early enough.
Though as a wake up pressure tool it sounds beastly, but, we can GI again and, 66B is VERY seeable.
It might be braindead but, Im wouldnt know if its OP or not until I play against it.

The OXM writers claimed to have played with Geralt ("first hands-on gameplay!"), but there was a rumor the build kept crashing.

If there's now a new build without Geralt, it seems odd that Namco appears to have simply given up on that problem.

So, do you think we will get a character Reveal this Thursday or next Thursday? If so, who will be confirmed ? If it is a male character, I'll say Maxi or Voldo. If it's a female character, I'll say Taki or Tira.

Groh makes me mad. If they wanted a Norse character, we could have had some buff bearded guy instead Coldsteel the Hedgeheg. He’s like the male version of Yucki Kuroi.
