Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I actually watched the trailer on my phone and it looked fine, but now on a bigger screen the quality is quite meh, can't wait for the HD version, Waiting for ya Thursday 11 AM Japan time.

The mods got fed up with people going off topic when there were no announcements for that week and people continued to post there which made finding actual news and leaks difficult even though there was nothing to find. Mostly they wanted us to post in more relevant threads than that thread but it wasn't happening so it got locked and only mods can update the thread now. So this became the thread that used to be that thread, and there is also now a shitposting thread for things that are off kilter or would incite rage or be controversial.

Fringe hope that the leak that said there would be 39 characters includes bonus styles that would be a hybrid of Natsu and Greed, perhaps? Taki's projectile attack makes me think of Miser, maybe we'll see that duo return, or they could be some Fu-Ma Clan ninjas that use their styles.

That is how I felt watching it too. I watched the video three or four more times and I actually really like her outfit, but I do wish it didn't look so copy pasted from IV. Her eyes, hair, shiny texture and body paint-like look... luckily this looks more reddish than the basically pink IV outfit but I'd still prefer a stronger red or even a strong blue again. For example, Xianghua's, Sophitia's and mostly Ivy's looks are very distinct and feel new. Taki's... It's a nice look but could be mistaken by casuals for IV with a mouthpiece.
 
It looks more like her SoulCalibur III look to me, except it's pinkish red instead of blue. It doesn't have the fishnets or other accentutatons that her SoulCalibur IV outfit had. Then again, mostly all of her 1ps look quite similar, it's her 2ps that get new designs each game. So we should really look forward to seeing what that's going to look like.
 
Is it just me or is Taki’s CE a reference to one of her clips during the Soul Blade intro? (The part where she blows up the demon inside a building and Taki jumps out unharmed).
 
I'm guessing this means it's just one reveal again this month. It'd be odd for one reveal trailer to be leaked but not the other(s).
 
The mask is dumb smh. I would've preferred either the mask have cloth under it (like SE) or just the cloth (like SC). The hollow mask looks like a dumb moustache lol.

The outfit itself is fine, tho. I don't like the metal bar under her boobs with the totally-not-obvious purpose of pushing her boobs up, but I do understand that her outfit would be pretty bland without something on her abdomen. I'd be willing to shrink her boobs a bit in exchange for some jiggle tho, because it looks weird af like Ivy's boulders (though not as weird because Taki's are still in the realm of realism).

Fortunately they decided to take inspiration from Taki's better outfits (SE, SCIII, SCIV) rather than her boring SC outfit.

Edit: Also the model is low-poly as fuck. You can see the individual triangles making up her boobs. What the fuck is going on with this game?

This video is leaked from NicoNico where the source file was 360p, it will look much better in full HD on whichever Thursday Namco actually releases this trailer. Though if it still looks bad then, we'll have a legitimate issue.

Taki looks perfect! So glad that visually she looks like a literally revamped SCI or 2 style. So glad shes not a baloon woman anymore lol

Her fighting looks sick.

The poly issue I'm seeing is during the nipple close-up, which is too close to be impacted by quality (heavily). It looks like a PS2 game's character model, not a game that should be launching this year.

But real samurai wore menpo masks just like it so it's design is not from the realms of fantasy. SC3 has the same design and I thought is was stupid myself back in the day but when I found out how important head gear is (more so than body armour would you believe) plus the importance of oxygen and soldiers being able to hear you speak, I realized having an opening in the mask has major tactical sense to it.

Wishful thinking leaves me assuming that since she was intended for Golden Week, something conveniently Japanese-oriented, we could end up with another reveal.

Please be Cervantes. If the ship is what I think it is, he might as well be confirmed. He's pretty much the only other character Taki has a connection to and it seems like the reveals have a certain theme to them (Mitsu/Sophie being iconic characters since SE/SB, Nightmare/Groh/Xianghua/Kilik being the characters central to the story, Ivy/Zas having an association with magic.) Not likely, sadly.

And no, I'm not a ship expert.
