Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

What about the 2 obvious big ones right on her titties ? The left and right ones are different
I asked her but she doesn't recognize those symbols at all. They might be made up.

As a sidenote, she mentions that one of the words she recognized (C in earlier post) is something you commonly see on FU talismans (essentially magic spells on a piece of paper based on Taoism, more info here: https://www.tinyatdragon.com/blogs/spiritual/what-is-a-fu-talisman).

And about the whole Kanji thing, as many people have already pointed out, Kanji originated from China. My friend also studied Japanese literature and history for one year at university, so I assume she knows what she's talking about.

Those say "leftie" and "rightie" respectively.
Nah it's FM and Volume. Now I'm just going to grab them and give them some tuning. XD

Keep tweaking until you hear voice (saying "NANISHITERUNO" in a furious voice), then you know you've hit the right spot.

Must've been a fun conversation. Hopefully she doesn't question your choice of hobbies heh.

They might be made up.
Yeah that makes sense. I was wondering if they were referencing any specific japanese folklore demons. Natus's demon Arahabaki was specifically given a backstory so I was wondering if Taki's backstory would involve something similar.

She said this which sums up the conversation pretty well: "you guys and your pillows"

If it's inspired by FU talismans, I think that's neat (though maybe a little strange as I don't think Taoism was ever big in Japan). I'm curious if the unknown symbols are really made up or if they're based on something really obscure.

The italian amazon posting is rather interesting two story modes... which could mean arcade mode/ story mode... or chronicle of swords... since the sc team is now able to take the time to flesh out the story mode let’s look at the facts.
Recap of sc 1-3
The possibility of chronicle of swords is there, but so is weapons master....
looking at the way they are focusing on Siegfrieds past we may be able to experience his youth along side his father in a cos (chronicle of swords) like mode. Same with maxi, kilik n friends.
They were also hinting at asynchronous gameplay... which means online mode might take a different path. Either having various spectator options or going further into it and have a battle in a cos related gameplay but online

Hard to tell with the mask, but it looks like they've tweaked her face a bit (eyes look larger). Her boobles are rounder thanks to a higher polycount. Hair mesh looks identical (except for ponytail being shorter) but doesn't render very well in UE4. Her weapons are based on the same meshes and textures but they look far less plain than in SC4.

SCVI Amazon Italy (RUMOR)

Before the Amazon Italy SCVI release date rumor, an interview with Okubo about a month ago where he talks about possible two story modes & single player in SCVI.

Are those SCIV shots native res? Because I don't remember Taki looking that pretty.

Her face is very beautiful in SCIV, even if she didn't looks Asian at all.

wtf is "asynchronous multiplayer" and how would that work in a fighting game?
Asynchronous multiplayer simply refers to multiplayer modes where both players aren't playing at the same time. A common example is racing games that allow you to download another player's ghost data. You can compete against it without the other player even knowing.

SC2's arcade conquest mode kind of played with this. You played against opponents whose AIs were based on other players, while strengthening your own AI representative.

Other possible applications? Well, if by some miracle CotS does return, you could build up an AI team to defend your base in your absence. Other players could send their own teams to invade your base, with gold on the line.

Just an idea. But I do think there's some potential there.

Chinese and Japanese writing isn't the same, sure a lot of the characters have similar meanings but there's also a good amount that have changed and due to Mainland China using simplified characters, there's a lot of Kanji that doesn't exist in Chinese and vice-versa. Especially when you're looking at old Japanese. I live in China and speak some Japanese, I remember asking one of my colleagues how to say some Japanese city names in Chinese and they couldn't read the characters.

Anyways I'm bad with calligraphy but going by stroke order I think the right boob could be 不, which means bad/wrong and is often used as a negative prefix? And the left could be 丕, which is a rare Kanji only really used in names these days that means great/glorious/distinguished.

Man, SCIV used a lot more bloom than I remembered. This really was the peak era for that effect.

What's the bloom of this generation? Ambient occlusion?

Interesting. This reminds me of Dragon's Dogma and its companion system. Perhaps we can level up customs and then share them with other players? This would be a neat feature; people have been begging for CaS sharing since forever.

The battle of the evil boob and the glorious boob. I dig it.

Those screenshots are taken from 360 version at 720p. The lighting might help to make her look better. Whenever I take screenshots from SC4 I almost always choose the Hall of the Warrior God stage as I prefer the lighting in it.

I'd say filmic post processing effects like film grain, vignette, and chromatic aberration. A ton of games go for it and I see it as a fad which will be gone in some years (it better disappear, I like my image quality clean darnit). I'm happy SC6's dev team decided to go for a clean look.

They probably made the eyes larger so she appears younger.

I'm kinda wondering if Taki reveal was this week or next, because if it was this week, this would mean 2 weeks after Sieg, which is interesting.
