Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Cassandras cool and all, and I understand that she differs from sophitia in MANY ways.

For me though if say we got Cassandra as well as Raph AND Amy, I'm gonna be pretty annoyed if Setsuka and Hilde don't make it to the base game as well. And if Ive been following along, the word is that it's not looking great for those two.

Unique weapon styles should be prioritized over the rehashed ones. Cassandra, amy, etc is best left as DLC imo

The thing about Setsuka is that while her fighting style is interesting she's just so forgettable as a character, especially considering she joined the series alongside Tira and Zas who are both great. Even Rock's more relevant than Setsuka.

I'd like her style to stick around but I wish they'd do something interesting with the user, maybe include her master instead or something.

I see that, but the truth is nothing is ever going to please everyone. You have those who would sacrifice Cassandra for Hilde or vice versa, and at the end of the day someone will be upset. I personally don't see a reason why all three can't be in, it's 2018 and the game shouldn't have such a low number of playable characters tbh. I hope the character and stage select screens were just placeholders, 20 characters (maybe less if 2 slots are for random and CAS) and 12 stages is quite frankly ridiculous.

This is literally a thing that fighting games have done. Don't shoot the messenger, dude.

I'm not surprised that fighting games do that.
But your message seemed like you thought that would be a good idea for tournaments, which irritated me, because i think it's a terrible idea.

Is FleshMasher a synonym for cringy asshole ? or are you trolling ? Act like a decent human being
I wasn't talking to you. Sorry if my use of the word retard irritated you.
And yes it is. At least now that i owned it, sorry.

It's a shame because to me she really is a badass. I'd say they could maybe make her show more personality thru her moveset. Not necessarily making her as flamboyant as Cassandra, Yun Seung, etc, but they could do a better job showing off her elegance. I'd love to see her just a little more animated.

Style and aesthetic is a big part of how people choose their characters.

Isn't one of the reasons no one used Setsuka because she was so hard to use

Yeah it is, but their are plenty of characters throughout fighting games that are difficult but still popular.

She is a different kind of hard though, you're right. She's sort of unmashable which isn't gonna win you a lot of casuals.

Setsuka was fairly popular when she was introduced and her design is breath taking, her gameplay is also extremely pretty.
However, Hilde and Setsuka work well for DLC because they are fun and well liked by people, but they are not priorities, just look at all the dumb muh Cass, muh Talim, mu Amy/Raph talk.

The aesthetic is the problem.

There's already Taki for those who want a badass, there's already plenty of busty women with revealing clothes, there's already characters driven by revenge etc.

She doesn't bring anything new to the table to get people interested in her unless you're into kimonos and even that mostly seemed to have fallen off in SCIV when they turned into into just another busty blonde.

I want Cass's Elfin Thrust if she makes it in. Felt so good landing that.

That was truly Cassie's version on Stab. If Cassie is announced, I hope she has her SCIV 236:(B).

True, I loved Setsuka SCIII 1P costume & Setsuka was so badass in SCIII that she use to damage opponents mysteriously.

Yep, she's a Top Tier that takes skill to use for high damaging combos. The Mishima's in Tekken are hard to use and are popular.

So you encountered someone with a different opinion and thought that called for a personal attack? That's cool.

For what it's worth, I don't think charging money to unlock characters is a perfect solution, but it's no worse than charging money for DLC characters. I also believe that unlockable characters are a fantastic way to add replay value to a game, and catering to the casual market is really important for SoulCalibur as a series. And for what it's worth (totally anecdotal), I asked the guy who organizes 90+% of the tournaments in my local scene about this issue, and he couldn't say enough good things about it. (This was back when Blazblue and KOF started doing it, and also around the time of the on-disk SFvsTekken DLC controversy.) Obviously this is just one guy, but he said the money was absolutely worth the convenience.

My PERFECT solution would be for all characters (unlockable and DLC) to always be available in offline VS mode for free. Always. But if people want to use those character in single-player modes, online modes, or customize their appearance; they'll either need to unlock them or pay for the DLC character. Of course, this would never happen because it would mean less money for Namco-Bandai.

“Join Katsuhiro Harada and Motohiro Okubo for an intimate look at fighting games development at BANDAI NAMCO and get the latest updates on SOULCALIBUR VI and the world of TEKKEN.”

I can't wait...I don't expect it..but how about that Release Date please? Nonetheless lookin fwd to this event!!!

Harada better stay out of Soul Calibur. He already done too much damages to Tekken, let's spare Soul Calibur from his silly weird game design decisions.
