Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Yun-seong adds nothing.
He's Talim's traveling partner, and in that she's basically confirmed, he could be also by association. You could instead say Seong Mi-na adds nothing, as she lacks ties to the rest of the cast. Yun-seong would give her an in, but without him, what is her story?

There's nothing inherently wrong with new characters, but when it comes at the cost of sacrificing fan favorites, it becomes more of a sore spot.

If we waste a slot on Algol again I... Can we at least CaS him for absurd character concepts?
That could be fun? I'm still kind of concerned that with all the individuality each character has, that CaS is going to feel pretty out of place. While you could see others use the styles from before, each style now has such personal attachment to the character that uses it, it's going to feel strange seeing others using them.

Why are people only focusing on small things instead of looking at the roster as a complete set? It returns many old favorites (barring Cassandra, that was my mistake) adds new stuff with sacrificing the major, and feels like perfect balance.

Just a comment. They are ret conning this game and can change the history behind characters.

If they wanted to make Cervantes Ivy's son they could do that for example.

Maxi and Kilik could be bestie bros for life. You never know till they show.

We have no idea what changes will exist to the styles under CaS. They may do something interesting. That said if I can CaS Algol say hello to giggles the psychotic demon clown. The abilities will fit him better than Algol.

The complete set is comprised of the small things, and the small things are important to those who care about those small things. Imagine your list that you made, but Taki wasn't in it. That would be a small thing that you would definitely focus on.

They could change anything that they want, but evidence so far says that they're not changing anything, instead simply expanding on what was before while keeping everything basically the same. And you say that last part like it isn't already the way things are.

It's funny to me how when people speculate about Talim, Yunseong, Mina, etc, other people always jump in and say "they add nothing to the story!"

Yet in the past couple pages a few people are predicting Rock and nobody says that about him. Y'all must really think Bangoo is relevant to the plot... XD

How would you feel if this was the overall roster?

Top

Mitsurugi, Sophitia, Grøh, Nightmare, Xianghua, Kilik, Maxi, Lizardman, Seong Mi-na, Tira, New Character (Male), New Character, Raphael (DLC), Toki (DLC)

Bottom

Ivy, Zasalamel, Geralt, Siegfried, Taki, Yoshimitsu, Cervantes, Astaroth, Talim, Voldo, New Character (Female), Algol (Pre-Order Bonus), Setsuka (DLC), 2B (DLC)

Going with the idea that we have 23 base characters and a bonus that I'm presuming is a pre-order, plus at least four DLC fighters, I tried my hand at this based on what we know, leaks, and general speculation. Just wondering what you guys would think of this.
I do like this roster! My only objections would be Algol and Toki and the absence of Hilde. I'd love to see Toki as a playable character, mainly because I like the concept of sub-characters such as Toki becoming playable and officially on the roster. However, I don't see PS actually getting around to doing that, so my inner pessimist can't see him being on the roster. :(
As for Algol, that's just personal preference; I hope he doesn't come back!
Hilde is missing though; she is slated for DLC according to a Vergeben leak.
Overall I definitely like your selections though! :)

That wouldn't make sense because Taki isn't a "small factor", she's one of SC's most iconic fighters and was core to the story in which the game is taking place. Remember, it's mainly the SCI roster with additional characters because that's basically what they said it would be.

Just like what Rex Dart said people are going to like a character without them needing to be story relevant. There is Mitsurugi and he hasn't done much, either. Yet people like him, Talim, the Koreans and Setsuka.

Besides they only use that excuse when it suits them. Even though I am certain they care little to nothing about story relevance.

Also, Rock isn't a bad character.

Are you forgetting the game is mainly based on SCI with additional characters?
and SC II, so I want to see them again...
What's wrong with having new characters?
I have nothing against newcomers, I would be happy if Salia, Durer or Chie were playable this time, but I prefer to prioritize the veterans ...

This "next character" speculation is like a religion here - it's delusional. Why waste time speculating? It serves absolutely no purpose unless you are betting money amongst yourselves and hoping to make a profit from predicting the future. The release date is only a few months away, so we will find out soon enough in due course....

I really hope they don’t pull something like that. I already like the lore of Soul Calibur and it would be annoying to have drastic changes to already established characters.

I think they confused reboot with the word remake.

The two words have similar meanings.

Besides is there even a link when they said reboot?

Gotta do something to pass the time, you know? It doesn't hurt anything, and it does feel good to some degree to have one or more of your predictions to come true. Like, if Grøh ends up being the man who becomes Z.W.E.I., I'm going to be super amused, since I called that back when all we knew of him was the twinblade from the announcement trailer. It's just something to do while we wait for the next reveal.

Reboot Link, and CaS was even confirmed back then, this isn't really a new confirmation.
