Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I hope he does this in SC6 if he's in.

Christ I forget how good SC3's roster was. Or maybe it's just that all three newbies were excellent new characters. :sc3zas1::sc3set1::sc3tir1:

yeah the roster is sick. zas and tira both were my go to. :sc3tir1::sc3zas1: with 27 stages to boot too. there was something memorable about voldo and i just so happen to find it browsing high level play of SC3. that one part gave him a personality for me.

SC3 also brought
Ephemeral Dream and they brought it back in SCV. my goodness

27 stages? Wow... I knew it had a lot, but not that many. SCIII really was the most packed game in terms of content. This REALLY makes SCVI's options look pathetic (not that they're not all great quality) too :/ I imagine we'll get more than 11 but probably nowhere close to 27.

Add the Bonus Characters and CAS style to SCIII's roster and it had the largest roster overall too.

That's why when they said SCVI is the 'most packed' I find it really hard to believe they'd really go as far as SCIII's content again.

Lmao!
What game is this???
If it's from one of the games, then it's either Sword Art Online: Lost Song or SAO: Hollow Realization. Haven't played either in quite a while though, but I believe it's Lost Song since those are ALfheim Online costumes.

Edit: Also, someone mentioned netcode a bit back. Tekken 7's is definitely good, so that would be a good starting point, but I still feel like there's a good bit of room to improve. Mainly because in SCV[4 and 2HDO netcodes are beyond trash] I was able to have a really stable connection even with friends in other countries, yet in T7 it's a bit rough at times or it takes a bit to get stable. This despite me and them having way better connections now than we used to. But, at least T7's netcode would actually work well enough, unlike some fighters I've played.

I think we can all relate to one another who have fully experienced the unraveling of SC3 single player content that there has never been a successor to match it or surpass it.

outside of story mode which i feel will be robust i think they are going to go ham on character creation.

Kind of hope that with a key press there can be alt versions of stages that don't have a transition. That portal at Kaer Morhen in Geralt's reveal didn't show up. Hmm...

The meadow would look beautiful under a starry night too.

Shame about the freaking random select.

Well, we definitely need more waifu in this game. Absolutely.
It is hard to argue the fact that they sell. Whether people like it or not. lol

Makes me wonder how Talim's going to play when she's revealed. I bet she'll be able to summon cyclones and use more air-based attacks. I really hope Raphael makes it in, base or DLC. I bet he'll get some new vampiric abilities.
I am betting Talim's CE will have the same reach and damage as Elysium's, only, visually, it will be represented by a tornado covering the entire stage... Ya heard it first right here, folks. ;D
I'm hoping they will incorporate the wind into her moves, such as longer jumps/leap attacks. Her Soul Charge could make her movement and attacks faster and provide special bonuses to her leap and dash attacks.

Not sure what her CE would be but some form of powerful wind or tornado wouldn't surprise me. I'm imagining like the enemy gets rasied in a tornado and then Talim dashes in and out in a zig zag motion or something through the tornado but that might be too offensive for her personality.
It makes a lot of thematic sense to tie some kind of wind mechanic into Talim's repertoire as a Soul Charge ability. I don't know anything about how she will work in SCVI or how her design will be (sorry, I've had people ask me this before so I'm saying it outright so I don't get more messages about that than needed) only that she will be part of the roster.
But a wind ability would help her out so much aside from making sense for her to have.

Talim reveal is going to be the hypest reveal I swear.
I'm already expecting a large amount of views on her trailer once it drops. Even people who don't like her will watch it because everyone is curious how she will change and be handled this time around.

Well actually Hilde's style really existed and so did spears with flags. They were used as a distraction for opponent. PS designed her after Brunhild & Jeanne D'Arc who were also portrayed as spear users and Jeanne d'Arc is also known for using a spear with a flag. So I wouldn't say she is historically incorrect in fact she is really unique for bringing out an actual but not so common style.

I also don't believe they would make her only spear user (if she's in of course) because as I said she has nothing common with other spear users in this game. Even other characters who use same weapons had more similarities compared to Hilde-Kilik/Mina but we still had them together in one game. So she's not a threat for them because she's not a clone style but a completely different style on her own.

And about a spear user I still have my hopes on Mina even as DLC. At worst they could still give Kilik Halberd as one of his weapons (like they did in SCV with Xiba) but seeing Mina back with a solid style would be best.
I've noticed that being Hilde's "point" to her design as well for years now. I appreciate those aspects as well as a cool tribute to those things thematically.

But I do have to say that I would like to see an actual spear user based on Chinese spear tactics and fighting, except people would probably feel they could just make a spear a weapon skin for Kilik. But there are still new and different things they could do with a straightforward spear user who does Chinese spear based martial arts moves. Dynasty Warriors 8 had more than one spear user, but no moveset clones, as they all handled and fought with their spears different (even if one was technically a javelin) so I would like to see them take a page of inspiration from that someday to represent a spear user that way.

He is in. But I'm right there with you in hoping he does that again. That was such a great, stylish animation.

The only things that bug me about Grøh's design are the weird hair colors and the cyber eye patch, as well as the "dark 'n edgy" color scheme of his 1P. Since I was bored, I went and (poorly) photoshopped a picture of his 2P colors to make him look slightly less like an animu-edgelord:
If you have time, keep what you did with the Edited 2P version there but change the hair to all blonde. I think that would look really good.

What about this game seems historically accurate chronologically?
That's the point fam
Are you familiar with the term "alternative history"?
Soul Calibur is just as much that as Samurai Shodown, Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Sengoku Basara.
You just can't get too fussed over it once you realize that it is what it is.

*Sees a Verge in alerts and sees what news was leaked*

*Talks about a Chinese spear than mentions Kilik, remembering he kinda replaced waifu Mi-Na...*

*Tries not to get hopes up.*

Didn't Xianghua have a Blue Storm (Hwang's sword) skin in one of the games? Scarlet Thunder for Kilik would be an insult I guess, but Food got some spears.

Still doesn't explain the removal of a rapier which is arguably more common than tonfas or a grim reaper-style scythe.

Or her emblem is the Jollibee logo? I only thought her popularity was because she represented Filipinos to be honest.

Hope she has an outfit like her SCIII default. Maybe her SC gives her wind-based projectiles.

For some reason I thought Astaroth would turn into his SCIV appearance for SC. Most likely he’ll get armored properties.

Rock > talim

Rock is a great character, you guys just never knew the satisfaction of landing multiple 214A: A: As. He deserves to be in this game, much more than Talim ever did.

That's what I mean. Soul Calibur is at best lightly historically informed. So Groh's fantasy elements and lack of resemblance to historical cultures is no big deal. I'm on board with ramping up the fantasy elements for interesting game mechanics. I mean I've got an avatar of a woman with a magical snake sword for god's sake.
