Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Ok I think I've done it. Considering popularity, The storyline we've previously known, ways old

characters can be reintroduced in a rebooted timeline, and the developers interviews that

emphasize unique fighitng styles and pleasing the fanbase I think I've got a good idea on what

the roster is going to look like.

To start, I feel they'll want some representation from each game in the main series even if it's

just one character from it so I've borken the list down that way. no star means they've already
been confirmed 1 star means they're super likely or basically confirmed, 2 stars mean less likely or possibly dlc and () means alt skin like they did in SC3 where li long was an alt skin for Maxi but had his own voice lines. I can see them doing this to allow series vet characters to be in the game without taking up a slot for more unique fighting styles. Basically like smash "echo fighters" any here's my thoughts.

SE
Mitsu
Taki
Soph
Sieg
Voldo*
Cervantes*
Hwang**(Yun Seong)

SC1
Xianghua
Kilik(Seong Mina)
Maxi(Li Long)
Ivy
Nightmare
Astaroth*(Rock)
Yoshimitsu

SC2
Talim
Raphael*

SC3
Zasalamel
Tira*
Setsuka**

SC4
Algol*
Hilde*

SC5
Viola**(Amy)

SC6
Groh
1 New character

I feel Hwang is super unlikely at this point as he and none of the koreans outside mina are particularly popular, so If eel they would have revealed him earlier to get him out of the way if he was in. However there's still a chance just for completeness or to give an excuse to have mina in that he show up, however I feel mina is more guaranteed that him.

Setsuka, Viola and Amy are all popular characters with popular unique movesets, but I also feel unless dlc will be exclusively guest characters or the the even less likely thought new characters, Sets and Viola would work better as DLC shills as despite their popularity they don't effect much of the plot of SC. Having said that again this is a reboot and the developers could very easily work in their plot lines into the narrative, even the possibility of connecting Viola and Amy if they make something happen to Amy a lot earlier in this timeline.

We know at least 1 more of the 23 on disc characters is going to be a newcomer. At max we get 3 completely new characters, but I feel we may cap out at 2 this game. I feel the dlc hook will be old chars and guests.

Making characters skins would likely upset more people than it would please. SoulCalibur has been great at trying to make characters with similar weapons stand out and given unique moves. Making these characters skins would be a step back and not please fans, it would be better to leave them out of the game and put them in the next one (if they aren't DLC).

My reaction if Mi-Na appears as CaS in the Yun Seong's story

It depends on how many people have this issue. If not many people complain, then it wouldn't be fair to tone down or take away the effects for the majority who have no problem with them. In that case, the only solution is to add an option which disables visual effects, but don't expect that to happen.

Not necessarily an option to disable visual effects but they can tone down the effects. For example, after fan feedback Capcom has changed some visual effects. One was for Viper in SF4, when she did her ultra there was a big cloud of smoke, they removed it. And in SFxTK, whenever you activated your gems you would glow too brightly. They toned that glow down in a patch.

So all we need to do is everybody tell them on twitter to tone down some visual effects and hope they listen

The only effect I think could be tuned down a bit is the quantity of the ground that breaks when someone falls.

Like, did that 90 lbs Chinese girl really just fall 3 inches and then shatter the stone floor into a billion, chunky, semi-distracting pieces?

This was the worst in tekken. It was so annoying and unrealistic. They could definitely tone it down some here as well.

There's always someone advocating to ruin everyone's fun

She may appear (as a non-CaS, maybe...) in Hwang's story, I think. Then Yun-seong would appear as a CaS in Talim's story using Hwang's style. I'd say that would be fair, going halfsies on the Hwang/Li Long situation. Li Long could appear as a CaS using Maxi's style in Taki's story.

They should throw a curveball and put in Han-Myeong instead of Yun or Hwang. That way we keep the style and everyone's too confused to be disappointed.
Actually everyone would be confused and disappointed.
Very much this, Han-myeong wasn't even in the Facebook character poll, I would almost venture that it's possible that Project Soul may have even forgotten that he existed. Bringing back Han-myeong would be like bringing back Edgardo.

The funny thing is, Yun actually beat Mina in the popularity pool, I think he has better chances than she does.
Can you stop complaining about Ivy's damage?Am I complaining about Gerald or Siegfried? You are such a crybabies.
While you're at it, why don't you go compare some apples and oranges.

I am one of those who do not like those exagerated effects but I can understand why someone could like them. So I just hope they will give us players the option to turn them on/off or at least in PC the chance to tone them down instead of leaving that to modders as unfortunately always happens.

About the rocks on the floor that appear everytime someone falls... maybe it's just Project Soul/Okubo trying to tease us that one character.

I really hope we can turn that off because it's distracting and I am hating it already. Seriously.

About the music... so far my favorite song from all the ones I've heard is the main menu theme:

Kinda nostalgic.

That's true. And the only result is that ground seems to be made of polystyrene...

Man this track gives me chills.. so calm and reminescent of the old atmosphere this series used to have, just wow

Someone hasn't listened to Moon of Oblivion. For that track alone I'm always picking the forest stage when I play lol
