Around the release of SCIV, the Soul Archive website revealed the backstory of both swords. Soul Edge was just a normal sword that keep on getting used for a very long time, until it gained sentience from all the lives it took. Soul Calibur was created from a "purified" shard of Soul Edge by Algol and Edgemaster.

True, but it’s more the combination of people getting their hopes *too* high and having nothing significantly new happen at said event...and I’m sure you don’t need to know the answer to that.

Notably, they didn't do a character reveal during E3, despite it falling on an "every other" Thursday. Since the Evo event is this weekend, they may again feel that the interviews, demos, and tournament are sufficient hype builders and a character reveal isn't necessary.
 
Lol if you've been in that Mandalay arena, you would know how awkward a full-blown CaS trailer would come off on Sunday. But maybe they can integrate a CaS model or two along with a character's reveal.
 
I think they'll save CaS (and the other new mode) for either Gamescom or Tokyo Game Show, and have the big 3 gaming news events each get their own single player reveal.

Showing off CaS at EVO would just be weird, what people want/expect to see and try out at a fighting game tournament are the fighters, not dress-up.
 
Could somebody please tell me what the hell a CaS trailer would entail? I've never seen a fighting game announcement where they had a dedicated trailer to a mode that is essentially a dress up mode. That being said I can't say that I would've paid much attention to it so hopefully someone could show me an example. Because I've been seeing these comments of a "CaS trailer" for months now and it's mystified me.

Also I am in the boat and have been for awhile of expecting at minimum a total of 3 character reveals at Evo. It's what has made the wait and the no reveal weeks tolerable for me. If we don't get at least that this weekend I'm going full casual and screaming my head off.
