Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Hasn’t it always been a tradition to add at least one of each gender when it comes to new characters...
Why is Grøh’s dad Going to be playable with the potential of losing a new female character with better longevity, I doubt that.

I can only see Grøh’s dad being useful for this instalments story but then what?
I would prefer a new female.

Glad to see Seong Mina back but I’m still waiting for Tira.
She’s supported the antagonist for 3! Games, I’m certain she’ll be in the base roster but the wait is killing me.

It’s weird that all this boss and mimic talk seems to cast out popular opinions and polls from all corners of the player base.

A reveal trailer for a mimic character LOL! (not gonna lie, that’s actually funny)

Btw has Okubo-san explicitly said 20 base characters no more no less?

Seeing that Tekken is getting a second season pass gets me less worried about some characters... though I would be kinda pissed if I have to pay for chars I'm expecting in the case roster, I still see it as an opportunity to give them story relevance and some nice rework ^^

However I still hope I will have to wear a chicken on my head by the end of the month.

If there is any one thing I think people should definitely take away from these two reveals is that regardless of what characters make it in we won't be getting "clones" this time around. They went ahead and made Seong Mi-na her own character proper this time around and I imagine that this is what they will be going for regardless of the character released.

... Wasn't she already unique? I'll be surprised if they re-did her entire moveset for SC6. We've only seen a very small selection of moves in the trailer and it's possible they only highlighted new moves.

I think people should just chill out, looks like yall stressing yourselves out over whose in or not at the start.

I went ahead and posted the official artwork of the two new reveals in their proper forum threads. That way, you guys can use the new art instead of the old art for their forum pages.

You’re welcome!

Verge hinted Mi-Na wasn't. She probably made it due to her absence from V as well as getting in Lost Swords over Kilik.

So does the Amy news look bad? Maybe Raph has a better chance now.
Not necessarily, we don't know anything, Kayane asked him about Amy and Okubo didn't want to react xD

SoulCalibur III started her on the path of uniqueness and SoulCalibur IV finished it, but she was still statistically inferior to Kilik, so her uniqueness got overlooked for her perceived uselessness. I still enjoyed playing her, but I also enjoyed playing Raphael in all of the games, so a character being weak competitively doesn't really dissuade me from playing them. I do like how it looks like perhaps Mi-na will actually focus on landing blows with the blade end of her naginata this time, which is just extra attention to detail that makes her even better, where you couldn't simply take her weapon and replace it with a rod and have it not feel weird. Also her Critical Edge is just brilliant, Scarlet Thunder!!

Tekken having DLC "seasons" got me thinking. Do you think SCVI will have a similar deal?
It's possible, it's could be like this:

Rest of main cast to be revealed: Hwang, Cervantes, Lizardman, Tira, Raphael, Grøh's Father
First Season Pass DLC: Cassandra, Setsuka, Hilde, Second Guest
Second Season Pass DLC: Rock, Yun-seong, Amy, Third Guest

They might could swap out Yun-seong and Hilde to give it a bit more balance, so that the second season pass isn't "all clones", but I dunno.

Judging by the pauldron, Asta still has the bullrush. I don't like the armor, it's too sophisticated for a golem and don't make sense with an exposed heart. And I laughed when I saw the CE. Remind me a trapeze artist.
Otherwise the skin color and the new moves look good.

Mi-Na's trailer roars "Don't call me a clone". And it's good. But for the first time, the English voice annoys me.

Once again, Namco would have finalized the roster well before they started production on the game. The fact that they were adverstising an additional four character DLC months before E3 is further symbolic of how a production schedule at a professional works.

Game development isn't linear, development time for each character is unique to them so to say that Bandai Namco would have finalized the roster due to them announcing DLC months before E3 is a misunderstanding of how game development works. Legacy characters have a far faster completion rate compared to completely brand new character due to them already being designed and most of their animations already captured. I think it's fair to say that the roster size of the first character select screen reveal was the original size the retail release was going to be but due to the backlash additional slots were added.

Unfortunately we live in a era of "game in kit"... and I'm the first to be pissed by that!

As long as the DLCs are quite fleshed (characters, story steps, CaS parts, updates, balance patches), it's not "that" bad... wasn't it "Asura's Wrath" that locked the ending behind a DLC?
