Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

This is just the base roster, there’s plenty of opportunities for other popular characters to return as DLC. And even if they don’t make the first three or four DLC characters, it doesn’t mean they still can’t appear.

Of course in order for their chances to appear to improve, you need to buy the game and the community needs to support it well. Long as they do that, Namco is sure to fill requests for returning and even new characters.

Lol all this talk about Rock. Some people just don't want him because I think people want sexy Bangoo on his ending.

That out of the way...

Wouldn't mind for him to come back. Rock is a good character and is one of my favorites. He is a good father to Bangoo, is a kind man and he does have potential to be something more like the rest of the arguable 'filler' characters.

That out of the way I do understand that some people will be angry that more popular characters like Cassandra (who is my favorite lady) and Tira don't make it in the base game, but he makes it in the game instead.

I feel a feeling there might be an abundance of women for DLC. Of course I have nothing to offer but speculation.

But for example, DOA 5 only had female DLC characters for obvious reasons aside from 1 sole male addition.

Tekken has had male DLC who are popular guests.

But to be honest, there is more profit from female characters as DLC. We all know Cassandra, Hilde, Setsuka would sell more than any male I could think of. Raphael would sell but...sex sells more

So you're saying we should petition Namco to introduce this new female character to SC6: She's of French descent, a bit snobby, she uses a rapier, her name is Raphaëlle, and her main characteristic is that she's got really big boobs.

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I'm pretty sure SCVI is going to have male character DLC, and they can't just cut all the women to sell them back later. That's shady as all hell.

Just going to make it easier to accept the inevitable:

Why Rock is in:
  • Soul Calibur 1 veteran
  • Can get the mace instead
  • Connection to Astaroth and Lizardman
  • Mentioned in Astaroth’s bio
  • Mace might be Rothion’s weapon
  • Emphasis on SC5 absentees
  • If 2 characters/1 stage and no Cassie, he might share the Eurydice Shrine with Sophie because I think it’s considered a colliseum or arena and Rock generally gets them as his stage. Or it could be the grassy field.
  • Mi-Na is proof that he can get a major revamp
Why Rock isn’t in:
  • Replaced with Berserker in II while Hwang got a successor
  • Generally unpopular
  • Same CF as Astaroth
  • Same voice as a CaS
  • Yun/Hwang feel more diverse from Rockstaroth style
Say something, Benny...

Pretty much convinced that Rock will either not be in the game at all or will be in the roster but not at the cost of any other likely characters.

Was Ashlotte an official character? I thought all the SCIV bonus characters were just guests designed by manga artists.

They are, though they did try to integrate lore aspects I guess. I believe the manga artists own the characters though, making the prospect of them returning tricky.

Everyone's reaction if the large dark-skinned female barbarian makes it in and replaces Rock.

All five of them have equally-tenuous ties to main characters. The only reason Ashlotte gets special attention is that technically without her, Astaroth (mass-produced) in SoulCalibur V couldn't exist, but you could make arguments that Kamikirimusi's interaction with Algol, Shura's interaction with Toki, Scheherazade's interaction with Hilde/Wolfkrone, and Angol Fear's interaction with Edge Master/Olcadan are equally canon, if inconsequential.

I've been gifted this image from a new leaker who's from Namco South Africa.

Prepare yourself for a whole lot of Rock in the the game.

That's a very interesting leak you have there. Leave it to Namco to bring back multiple mimic characters at the bottom row.

On the bright side, the new character at the bottom left corner looks promising. The leak is a little obscure but he appears to be using a powerful new type of weapon never before seen in the game as suggested by the previous leaks. I don't know what it is but something about Grøh's father, if this is him, reminds me of Voldo in some way.

They already did cut all the female characters from SCV (maybe they already thought of selling them as DLC)
DLC is only to be either female characters or some veteran male character like Raphael (he will sell well for sure)

no bull. im gonna be hella salty if rock gets in and setsuka doesn't.

Who ever did this Photoshop is a Rock superfan? I would go with Hayate's latest vid over this.

Agreed on Rock's chances of being in.

I agree with Hayate on his latest vid on Raphael being in and he might be revealed at Gamescom next week.

Harada is literally the head of the fighting game division at Namco, not only that Team Soul was used for TTT2 and that is why content for the game abruptly stopped, even though there is certain data that indicates that more CaS DLC was on it's way.

Harada has gain levels since then, but even now he don't have such power on dictating release dates for other games and such things, and PS that worked on TTT2 that true but saying that it was Harada decision is just another speculation, and again sure Harada has big level in companie, and his mouth can definitely affect the true highers in the company that make those decision, but i highly doubt the things that you were mentioning were directly dictated by Harada.

Yes!! God, please, yes!! I am one of those!

The story should be that 18 year old Bangoo was all alone after Rock was captured by that cult and assimilated into being Astaroth. For a while, Bangoo fends for himself, growing stronger in the wilds, until meeting Maxi, who wants revenge on Astaroth. As they quest and train together, a romance is born between Maxi and Bangoo that blossoms until that fateful day when they finally locate Astaroth. They engage him in a fierce battle, but then due to memories he absorbed from Rock, Astaroth begins to recognise Bangoo. A dilemma is conceived in Bangoo's mind. "is this my father...?" what happens next?? Will Bangoo stand between Maxi and Astaroth, which causes Maxi to turn on his lover and, as a consequence, cause Bangoo to turn on the world in his own desperation?

Geez, the potential in this is so great, but we'll probably just end up with another BANGOOOO! BANGOOOO! joke ending. -_-

I think all-girl DLC would be pretty natural since all the popular male characters are looking to be in the base game. Cervantes and Lizardman are semi-confirmed already so all that leaves is Raph (who'll probably be in) and Yun/Hwang (who we only need one of). The rest of the popular characters are girls.

I don't think its a matter of deliberately cutting out the girls to be dlc, rather the males that are easy to cut aren't very popular while the easy-to-cut girls are.
