Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Tekken 7 initially launched in arcades with no 2P costumes. Fan feedback eventually led to them being added (for veteran characters) in a subsequent update.

So I think people should feel good about bitching about the absence of 2P costumes in SC6. History shows that complaining can get results.

Also, does anyone else remember the scorn and derision directed against people who, long ago, expressed the fear that we wouldn't get alternate costumes? Seems sadly ironic now.

I completely agree, but naturally there's a right way and a wrong way to go about this. Screaming bloody murder and generally being rude is definitely not it. (I'm not saying you're doing this if it comes off that way.)

If the issue is that important to people, organise your disappointment. Someone get petitions going, show the numbers behind the upset. It's gonna be way more productive. For all their flaws the dev team are still a collection of humans and if you treat them as such they're probably gonna be more receptive to that and bigger numbers carry more weight.

I'm sure Project Soul aren't happy that they weren't able to include 2P as well. It's a bummer, but I'm sure was just a time/budget thing.

My solace and lack of salt about it comes from hoping that the time and budget that would have gone to 2P went towards something worthwhile. Looking at what we've seen from the rest of the game, it looks like it could have been a necessary sacrifice to make. I'd rather have the game come out a little sooner, or a little more polished, than get 2Ps. It's a tough call, I wish that wasn't a choice they'd even have to make, but that's sadly the reality of modern gamedev and SC being a relatively small-scale and niche series.

And honestly, I love some 2P costumes, but for the majority of characters I thought they were either ugly at worst or forgettable at best, especially with how robust CaS is. Like really, outside of a select few that I particularly liked, for 90% of the cast 1P or CaS was my preference.

Still, even if it's a feature I didn't use much, it added something worthwhile to the game. My hope is that SCVI is successful and allows for the budget for 2P to make a comeback in future games.

It's not surprising, but nice to have confirmation that he's playable. I kind of doubt that he's a good guy, though. That seems fairly suspect. Balance, like Zasalamel, perhaps, but definitely not good.

Showing his trailer today to distract people from the recent news would be a good idea, I wonder why they didn't go with it.

After the two week cycle between news, there will be 6 weeks and 5 characters left to be shown, we know Cervantes and this guys are in and occupy almost half of those but the last 3 became much more mysterious with Lizardmen showing up in CaS making me think we won't get a Lizardman proper.

//Cross fingers

Cassandra, Raphael and Yun/Hwag .

You're right my man.

I feel like I should screengrab this entire post for future reference if the dismissive narrative arises again in the future. I mean there are people in here right now that are telling the critics that this is the best you're going to get it. I don't think that's fair and quite frankly anti consumer. You know with enough push people will just flat out not buy the game if it's content is below their expectations, I've seen it and I've done it many times with other games, I even did it with SCV. No matter how people spin it the lack of 2P in vanilla release is a very bad move, even more so than Tira being DLC.

K. : I see. So… Can we expect characters from Soul Calibur V, or characters like Setsuka who don’t fit into Soul Calibur VI’s story to be included in the Season Pass like Tira ?

M.O. : Maybe the Season Pass will come with a guest character ? Maybe. We don’t know who.

What is this answer !! Da FAKK he didn't even answer the question LOL

Lines seem blurred, I mean Groh is technically on the "evil" side of the character select screen. Merlin may have good intentions but go against what the rest of the cast stands for.

Well I wonder what his playstyle will be like, maybe an amalgamation of Viola and Vader with new stuff thrown in. It would be funny if he was kind of my Amiola idea to have floating swords. Should be fun to have him playable, then I guess that takes care of a slot. Worried that means Inferno is playable too?

Well now if there's no other new characters, Raph seems like the only big reveal they could drop near the end...
