Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

There should have just been an Axe CaS style and make Rock a bonus character since he’s still been treated like crap since his return.

But I hope that Hwang and Aeon are indeed still in.

I mean, what lean female character do we even have in SoulCalibur? The only character remotely close to that is Taki and I doubt most people see her that way. The dark skin girl doesn't even need to be huge.; just have some muscle definition lol
When I say "not a stick figure", I mean things like noticeable abs, large biceps (for a women), clear definition on calves and thighs, things of that nature. The size of the muscle is about as important as the definition of it.
If very few people would pay for rock as a dlc, just make him like a free add on you can download. I can't think of many people who would say no to that. I'd like him to be differentiated, so long as he has different looking throw animations compared to Asta that's good enough for me personally.
I, too, condone the clearly already stretched dev team being made to work for free.

I can think of many people who would say no to that. And they all work for Namco.

Yeah, I forgot about that. The team is stretched, tbh I'm just happy the games out. The last thing we want is for the team to get stretched too far. Work conditions aren't great in Japan, at least from what I've heard.

Who, outside of ten-or-so people on this forum, would actually buy Rock or Hwang as DLC? I genuinely don't see anyone who isn't a diehard, original Soulcalibur fan caring tbh.

I also don't understand the Azwel/Viola comparisons? Azwel's weapons are all melee and aside from his CE or throw animations I've never seen him actually use magic or conjure weapons at range. He also doesn't even have an orb, and on top of that he's very masculine in his animations compared to Viola's feminine ballerina pirouettes and dips... How does his inclusion mean Viola will no longer be a character in this SC timeline lol

You'd assume anyone running a tournament for one thing, and then dependent on if there were any changes in properties to Astaroth/Yun (for example) then you can make a case that anyone serious about the competitive scene probably would also.

Also I think the original post about Viola/Azwel was meant sarcastically and everyone seemed to've misunderstood and overreacted which is weird for this community.

Looks like Azwel gets his own story mode.

By the way, do we know if these sequences are voiced?

That's hard to say about any character TBH it's just that IMO most of the outcry for characters like Tira are waifufags rather than players of that character.

Regarding the question though if I was still outside of this forum it would be Rock, Hwang and Li Long with double nunchucks (make it happen).
Yeah lol but you're obvs a fan of the classic soulcaliburs which was my whole point. Characters like Hwang, Rock and Li Long won't appeal to people who aren't classic fans or don't go on 8WR.

SC6 is tailored to attracting newcomers and keeping hold of the fanbase that exploded with SC4. Most of those players won't even know who those characters are (save Rock but we know barely anyone used him) so without the nostalgia factor, the characters really don't have much of a selling point

Even though it hurts, it's a good idea to have Tira, Hilde, Setsuka, Amy, Viola, ZWEI, Raphael, Cassandra, etc as DLC characters (hopefully not all of them will be cuz I'll be broke) as they have more than just a reminiscent quality to them that will attract the wider audience

Like I said it's hard to say about any character, we're dealing with different generations of players spanning over two decades so no one really knows. My generation (I'm currently 37) grew up with the traditional looking martial artists when they were trending so there will be a lot of attachment to that type of look. Mid 30's is also (IIRC) the largest gaming demographic so with those in mind you could make a loose judgement that there's a market for them, you've just got to market them.

Doesn't change that the scene exists and people in it would be highly likely to purchase characters.
Tournament palyers will buy all characters regardless, because otherwise there is no way of learning them and being prepared. They need to appeal to is those that won't buy just any and all DLC they would release no matter what (and those people most probably won't buy someone like Rock) to get more money.

I agree, DLC would need to be characters with a wider range of appeal. That's why I'm not at all shocked that Tira is DLC.

That's not what the question was though.

TBH, I'll be a stupid sheep mixed with a cash cow but... I'd buy Rock (even if he was my least favourite character in Soul Blade and totally useless for me since then) especially if it means supporting the game to get SCVII. After all, I'll buy SCV even if I won't play most of the characters on a regular basis, so why not go an extra step and support the game? I've wasted enough bucks for SCV, but SCVI seems so promising I cannot not support it.
