Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I've seen... listened again the videos posted yesterday but with a headset.
Compared to speakers, it's really night and day. The game seems like 10x better with a headset.

16 hours all our hopes and dreams for this game will be crushed realized.

It's entirely possible that they won't mention anything new lol.

And then they drop a Hwang trailer today. That would be quite the thunderstorm.

A thunderstorm would be dropping a trailer for a character no one is talking about or expected lol.

I was hoping there would be more than that, like also earthquake, whirlwind, magnet, and all the other various effects. Maybe more can be unlocked? But I was thinking it would be Extra, with weapon effects, bringing stats back, but maybe that's only in Libra of Soul. Team Battle would be nice, though, especially if they allowed tagging out.

Must be hard for dev/production team since this game has to appeal to people who like to be silly and try crazy things, as well as serious fighting game players. :p

YOU, however, are not worthy of witnessing this glorious moment. Leave this place at once!
To be fair it's already better than what I could have hoped for. Honestly there is a lot to love about the game that far outweighs any negative.

20 characters - All unique in fighting style.
11 stages - 3 times of day per stage
Fast and Fun Combat with new mechanics
Despite not having 2P costumes the alt color scheme choices are quite good and throwbacks to previous entries in the series.
Story mode - No Puzzling Time Line + Character Development for all characters
Excellent Artwork some of the best we've seen for Soul Calibur.
Mission Mode/Weapon Master Mode - A return to some of the best casual content in any fighting game
Practice/Training Mode
Museum Mode - For extra game details and fun extras
Arcade Mode with 8 Enemies
Creation Mode - Most of the content from V plus extra content
Ton of support for the game leading up to release via tourneys, streaming, updates, etc...
Post-Release Support in DLC and Patches (both competitive and casual content)
Streaming support to help grow the viewer base for tournaments.
A bunch of new and returning fans in addition to the veterans...a bigger and better community.

Take a close look at this and think to yourself wow this is what they could accomplish with a limited budget what would they be able to do with an even bigger one? I for one think this will probably end up being the best Soul Calibur game to date VII though will be even better.

Considering how Bandai Namco treated this franchise last years, that's quite huge. (And it's Not even an Anime enough franchise for BANDAI namco)

And seeing that Mi-na was stripped of all tomboyish personality features so far and made more feminine in her behaviour, Cassandra would fill in that gap.

Since when was Cassandra anything close to a tomboy?

and yes, there seems to be a LOT more single player content, especially compared to SC5.
Will there be a ultra-difficult single player mode using legacy costumes (legendary souls?) . That
Casuals should be very pleased.
The only thing that concerned me was initial roster quantity + diversity, and the frequency for bug fixing/gameplay balance patches. Everything else is heading in the right direction.

Somebody on reddit apparently played the game at TGS. The "standard" battle option speculated to be... Team battle for some reason (i thought it would be custom stats) is instead for SCII-style battle effects. The settings are:
Standard
Slip out - slippery floor
Blow up - extra height on launched opponents
No ring outs - no ring out
Well that killed my speculation, can't be that hard to put in a team mode. It's a mode everyone wanted for over a decade.

Bamco has a strict "no team battle" policy for its fighting games. Purely to spite the fans, of course.

For real though, I think there just hasn't been a visible enough push for it, and fighting games as of late have been trimming whenever they can get away with it.

Team battle seems relatively low cost to implement though. If it's really missing from the full game come launch, I'd try sending a message to PS/Okubo that you'd very much like to see it return. Who knows what could happen?
